I found a project offering an airdrop but required participants to download and install their mobile app. The app is newly made with only few hundreds download and I don't think I'll ever use it.

Is it too risky?

I'm predicting that the potential for that big application will collect your personal information in the form of KYC. And most smartphone apps will know your location and habit of using your phone, and it will match the information you provide to get your information for sale on the black market.

If they have a good reputation, then why not, on the other hand, you need to look at the profit you can earn, whether it makes sense to download this application or this waste of time and phone memory.

I don't even waste my time and data downloading and installing an app that I have no use for, a token that would probably worth nothing even after hitting exchange, with my past experience, they are all waste of time, I can't even think about doing such, I can't keep waisting my time for such nonsense.

It's very risky to run an apps especially if you downloaded it somewhere else be sure you have anti virus to scan the apss you want to download. Try to search it in google if it's safe.
I agree on your idea mate, the purpose of anti virus is really relevant to the app and this will help is to be successful for installing. To gather information is the first stop to do so that you will be able to go for the next level you want to do.

airdrop indeed basically fraught with risk. without or with the required application requires the possibility of same. many airdrops that have the price doesn't match the expectations which exist and this certainly does not make the followers from the airdrop was not satisfied with the results. even many whose only aim is indeed a scam and almost all like this.

if the token or coin you are going to get is small probably its not worth the risk to do it, just stick with others that require less and no installation or some sort

I guess it may be, but it is normal when airdrop rules requires app installing. They(team of the project) need to advertise their product, and if they have app one of the ways to advertise it is to increase the quantity of downloads. How could they do it without huge advertising payments? Right, they require airdrop participants to download it. Airdrop-as-is.
By the way Google Play checks apps for viruses. But not perfectly, from time to time Smiley Remember about that

Dangerous to install apps on your primary phone. You can buy the cheapest phone and install any applications on it.

Installing application is not good, they can have inside malicious code and stole your keys.
Airdrop means tokens for free: filling the form with your wallet and its all
To be honest, based on one-time negative reviews about the air drop, I find this field of activity in the cryptocurrency market fairly relaxed and less attractive.

it used to be profitable! One of my friends earned $ 300 to complete the minimum tasks! but now they pay very little, and then the token is still falling in price very much! in the end, you can not even put on the stock exchange and sell it! just trash your wallet! just install the mobile app - there are no risks!)))
in any case, you need to be careful with these applications that you install on your computer. You never know, but there may be some program Trojans that can calculate personal information.

I myself actually never follow the airdrop program. I focus more on bounty achievement. I think that we must see the profits or rewards of the airdrops that require the apps install. if the reward is profitable, you can consider it. However, you must be careful because it may be risky for you. know the team members, analyze the team project, and see the reward numbers. if it doesn't match to what you expect, leave it and vice versa.

That is a good advise to follow, thank you!

It is maybe a little off topic here, but do you take part in airdrops that require KYC?

It not risky at all. You just install the app they required and you are good to go. This only means that the project that is airdroping has had their own apps for their tokens. So no worries my friend.

I participated in Airdrop and installed an extension of an App that offered some tokens. The funny thing that after several weeks it updated Google Chrome and it was removed. Tongue I think I lost my tokens. Maybe I do not participate in another Airdrop like that.  Cheesy

I agree with many, the installation of such an application can be very dangerous. Better take part in the bounty. Airdrops it is no profitable direction.

ONe Social Network.
I think the app should be in the play store or the apple store in the case of iPhone, to try to make sure it is something safe, because it is very delicate information we can have on the phone, many people use the phone as a wallet, which I see extremely risky, but there are people who need it that way to pay things and make transactions.

i would not install an app for any airdrop. certainly most apps are a virus or something like that. only if i was absolutely sure, it is a serious project, i would do something like that maybe. but when can you be sure?
