Although Strategic, but I observe a lot of projects that do not seem to run according to expectations. For example, Play2Live and Playgame are both game bases and I see that their development is not so maximal that it tends to be stagnant. if on average the game industry on the basis of the blockchain has no innovation then it will not be able to compete. The data above is 2018.

Blockchain tech should be applied everywhere , in every domain and Games are not different from this. Lets not forget that Steam, g2a , kinguin and a lot of website of games are accepting Bitcoin for a while now and in the future I heard some rumors that they will implement Ethereum too ( this remain to be see ).

I think that Bitcoin should be applied not only in games but in esports as well as that would do to Bitcoin a good promo and maybe who knows a bookie will sponsor a Dota 2 team or a CS:GO team sooner than we think because gaming industry is booming like never before.

The game industry is as promising as cryptocurrencies, but I’m not sure that Bitcoin will be actively used inside game structures, you can consider bitcoin as a prize pool, but not as a functioning unit within a game or platform, at least with its current bandwidth.

Hey guys, I was wondering about Bitcoin, blockchain and cryptos in general and their relation to the games industry

We all know, people at my age (31 years) growed up playing games, surfing the internet and they are  very close to technology in general

Games always have put new technologies to evolving the market, like: Internet to play multiplayer games, virtual reality and 3d to have a deeper experience, photorealism, payment inside app/game and etc

But until now, games industry didn't use any new technology related to cryptos

Do you think they will use?
And if yes, how they can use BTC, blockchain and cryptos in general?

The only and most obvious for me is use cryptos to pay games, in steam, psn, xbox live and etc, but I'd like to see your ideas guys

I believe that bitcoin will be soon adopted by the gaming industry because of its huge opportunity about finance. Gaming industry includes gambling, that is why there are a large possibility that it will adopt by other online games like Dota. Since a lot of people are interested with the power of bitcoin, many people will try to have it by playing computer games online. It is possible to manage an event that will give bitcoin as a price if they win the game. This was really cool.

I gave up on this happening anytime soon. There have been many gaming coins with all sorts of promises that they never even came close to achieving. The one that really made me laugh was when they said they plan to have a platform like steam. They all talk about it as if they already have a platform and are going to be big with big games being hosted and their coins used in these games. There haven't even been indie games with crypto as a currency that have done much. There have been a few games but only one game, not a platform and most of those games are not being developed much or are very slow to update or are simply dead.

I remember earning a bounty for two gaming platforms and I should have sold right away but I never since I decided they need a chance but they gave up and never continued development right after the funding was received. You can never take these people seriously. They just give up and it is pathetic since they could have made something and did put a fair enough effort in. It is just they make things look too fancy with too many promises but no actualy working product. There is no skill set on show.

I have not seen much of the game that integrate Bitcoin in their ingame system.  Probably because of the complexity of the needed knowledge,  The only gaming sector that had fully taking advantage of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency is the gambling industry

The gambling industry capitalizes on Bitcoin's popularity and value

Okay, you may rightfully ask why other sectors in this industry don't do the same and that would be a fair point. The short answer is that their business model is different. If they tried to integrate Bitcoin or another cryptocurrency into their games, they would lose control over some parts of the game as people would definitely find a way to exploit that distinction somehow (for example, building a market for game things outside the game itself). With an in-game currency the company behind a game retains its full control of the game

There are games out there that is using blockchain technology.

As far as I know this is not a new thing. There is this game I've read about that while you are progressing in the game, you will be able to mine cryptocurrencies. That I think is the future of gaming and cryptocurrencies since the world is slowly shifting into that kind since games nowadays are being priced with a lot of money, in the future it will be a stable job for a lot of people not just the professionals.
Many games right now are adopting cryptocurrency to gain more users and players in their game. Also many games are now using blockchain technology as a platform with different transaction to other people. Most of this are gambling games, dice games, sportsbook and different faucet of money that helps many people in giving people opportunities to earn and gain some profit .

As gaming becomes ever more lucrative in certain areas and heads ever more toward a leasing-esque model rather than anything approaching old school ownership I wonder whether this might wake a few people up and inspire some new avenues.

I've read a lot about Blizzard's shitstorm today, but didn't realize that Gods Unchained is a blockchain game.

Still, it's not a problem that blockchain would solve, the core of this problem lies in the fact that Blizzard is a giant company that has to comply with the laws of all the countries where they want to operate. Blockchain games aren't really decentralized, they still have centralized servers owned by a company, and if that company would become big enough to get noticed by regulators, they'll face the same challenges that Blizzard has.

Maybe you mean famous gaming company such as sony, nintendo and etc. who had adopted blockchain tech or accepted crypto. I've seen some projects here that are somehow related to gaming, but I've never seen any who had survived by far. I mean if some online games accept have gaming credits to buy weapons or gaming subscription or VIP pass, I think they should step up and start enggaging their selves to crypto.

Bitcoin and game industry have connection each other how to build an easy way to purchase your needed using bitcoin as payment way, keep connecting bitcoin and game industry.

More also, the anonymity that Bitcoin has brought has promote more gamblers to gamble, knowing fully well that they are fully shielded by the anonymity of Bitcoin. As a gambler, i have never wanted to gamble on the traditional ways again, becasue of what happened to me. I was beaten black and blue to give up my winnings on Gambling; that i did gave them my won profits. But the advent of cryptocurrency, i can now bet anonymously and go home with my profits without anybody harassment.

Bitcoin is widely used in gambling and iGaming. However, not only Bitcoin is used. the most popular gamblers' cryptocurrencies are Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Dogecoin. Crypto casino owners choose only those cryptocurrencies that are supposed to grow with time, and those, which will never disappear. Besides, faucets (games where crypto awards are given fo players) are popularized.

It would be a great experience if all the online store starts accepting bitcoin as an alternative payment method and it is a safe payment method when ever you purchase anything online, i know there is prepaid debit and credit cards but bitcoin should be the currency to use for any forms of transaction in the web as it gives you the protection and there is no charge backs too and it will be a perfect solution for merchants too.

Basically, most game doesn't really need to adopt bitcoin and other cryptocurrency. But with regards to payment method, every time you'll buy something in the game, they could also add bitcoin or cryptocurrency as a payment method. Because if the game focuses on bitcoin, it'll just become an online gambling site/app for bitcoin. It's hard to relate this two especially when the purpose of the game is to just entertain people.

But until now, games industry didn't use any new technology related to cryptos

I am waiting for online games MMORPG which can be played by any user and the main money is bitcoin!
I am sure that there will be a huge number of players to join the game.
You can loot satoshi instead of gold and the game doesn't need email but BTC address.

The most projects now are into gambling platforms, dice and sports betting.
I really hope they can come up with online games like Ragnarok and Mobius Online.

The are games that can reward you with altcoins and then convert it to bitcoin. You can check this list : https://blocksdecoded.com/best-cryptocurrency-games/.  They may not the game that you expected but they are reward their players with cryptocurrency and bitcoin.

I don't think blockchain would help gaming that much. As a mode of payment, it can help since it opens more options on how to pay something related to the game. However, by the blockchain technology itself, I don't think it's of any use. Online games require fast transfer times to avoid delay, which decentralized system of blockchain would not be a good alternative. Aside from being an alternative payment method, I can't see any great contribution bitcoin will offer to the industry.

If you'll do simple research, you can find games that use cryptocurrency as a part of their system or their rewards which are convertible to cryptocurrencies. It's their way to attract more players and it's actually an advantage for both parties. I'm sure that there will be more games in the future which would use cryptocurrency as a mode of transactions. It isn't possible since it's convenient if online games would use digital currency.
