I think that the blockchain technology can be applied at the moment only to online gambling that has a problem-it is a lack of trust on the part of users.Although in fact, using the tokens standart ERC 721,you can tokenize a number of games. The whole crypto industry is evolving and I think its symbiosis with the game world is about to happen.

There are many gaming project that incorporate blockchain technology into gaming but the core features of the designs are still lacking block chain. What many of them use block chain technology to make payment and also store gaming data. Deep learning language and Artificial intelligence are few of other technology that major core game development used especially most of the game being developed at the 21 century. I will be glad to see a game that use block chain technology at least 95%

I really don't know if OP is talking about using the blockchain technology in the the gaming industry or whether if the gaming industry has already accepted the use of cryptocurrencies as a means of payment, but if it's the latter, I know there are lots of gaming platforms that accepts cryptos as a means of payment.

Actually, the OP is referring to both,
Hey guys, I was wondering about Bitcoin, blockchain and cryptos in general and their relation to the games industry

I've already come up thinking about the usage of blockchain technology to some gaming platforms. It seems that gaming industries don't need transparency feature or network that will develop the server of a game. They usually prioritize the development of the game itself to have better gaming experience. But I hope there's a use of blockchain in the game soon, I know it will give a big change in the gaming industry.

So the most common thing that gaming devs focusing is the structure of the game and how will people buy those in-game items, so they implement the usage of bitcoin as payment.

I think gaming industry is really suitable for crypto to enter, but without the legality of crypto it will be hard for the game to implement the in game purchase using crypto, we already got crypto for purchasing games, I think its a great start but for in games crypto it will need to wait until the government allowed it

Actually, they are using it now like the game I played last time, they allowed their game ITEMS to be paid with bitcoins. and also you can use bitcoin to trade with the other players.

Some other games right now run with their own Altcoins their game currency is Altcoins.

I guess you are missing out already, there are so many gaming industries that has applied the technology of blockchain to their gaming system and has also been using cryptocurrency, especially that of bitcoin and that of the ones they personally created through the ICO market, so there are really lots of gaming sites into cryptocurrency.

Recently, there was a record showing that cryptocurrency is moistly used in the gambling sector, and wonder why is used their most, and don’t forget that gambling is also a game, and gambling does not have to be played Physically alone, there has been gambling gaming sites and most of them has virtually shifted their attention to the use of crypto, as we can see casino crypto, even this guy TRON has also created one using crypto.

Personally, I play a couple of online games which support buying cosmetics or skins like Dota 2 and CS:GO. There are many sites which allow users to deposit major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or Ethereum which is automatically converted into the dollar value at the time of transaction.

Additionally, there are altcoin projects like Dmarket which are based on the online gaming marketplace provide a platform for buyers and sellers to effectively trade items across games while avoiding much of the middleman fee involved.

You're outdated, there's a lot of gaming platform now that used bitcoin as the payment method to buy games and in-game items.
If you remember steam, they allow bitcoin as their payment and it's quite useful for me since I'm a gamer too who usually buy games a lot.

But recently, they stop this method;
Quote
Steam stops accepting payments in bitcoins. Online game service Steam has stopped accepting payments made with the Bitcoin virtual currency.

If a company having a hard time to adopt bitcoin, it will have lost in the market due to its sudden change.
I hope they figure it out 'cause the bitcoin payment method was very reliable since we're paying 1:1 on the game.

Regarding the other gaming platforms that adopt bitcoin, I hope they do their best to maintain since eSports was very mainstream today and bitcoin was also reaching its peak.

Livecasino, 20% cashback, no fuss payouts.
Just remember, not everything is suitable to blockchain, at least not the type of distributed ledger like Bitcoin where everything is stored on blockhain. Imagine if I as a player and 100 other players played the whole day how would we find the data storage space to keep all our transactions (walking, playing items, killing, stats so many data!) and then how would we wait for blocks to be found before our transactions take place?

Blockchain is not necessary for everything!

Bitcoin and game industry have connection each other how to build an easy way to purchase your needed using bitcoin as payment way, keep connecting bitcoin and game industry.
Bitcoin is unlikely to be widely used in the global gaming industry. For this, fast, light and cheap coins such as Tron are used. There are a lot of different ICOs on the Tron platform, which are associated with the release of various tokens in the gaming industry. In my opinion, bitcoin is too expensive for this, and too slow in transactions.

In my opinion, right now people doen's have reasons to pay in BTC because it's easier to pay in cash, credit cards etc, everyone have one of these ways
If cryptos can reduce the price of games for example, I'm sure that people will think and prefer cryptos

I find it really, really strange how gaming has such a blind spot when it comes to crypto. You'd think they'd be running towards it but the silence is deafening.

Crypto integration is likely to come from the left field as ever and it'll be indie developers who do something with it. The gaming behemoths are full corporate and some have their own financial systems to protect just like banks.

A lot of casinos make money on gamblers, who play for Bitcoin. As we know, most gamers lose - only a couple in a couple of hundreds wins. So, when they replenish their accounts with BTC and lose, this money is accumulated in a casino. The casino can wait until the market can go to the Moon, and make several times more than they could do it before, with fiat.

Hey guys, I was wondering about Bitcoin, blockchain and cryptos in general and their relation to the games industry

We all know, people at my age (31 years) growed up playing games, surfing the internet and they are  very close to technology in general

Games always have put new technologies to evolving the market, like: Internet to play multiplayer games, virtual reality and 3d to have a deeper experience, photorealism, payment inside app/game and etc

But until now, games industry didn't use any new technology related to cryptos

Do you think they will use?
And if yes, how they can use BTC, blockchain and cryptos in general?

The only and most obvious for me is use cryptos to pay games, in steam, psn, xbox live and etc, but I'd like to see your ideas guys

We may see Bitcoin as currency in the games rather than USD.

Games or gaming gadgets can be available to buy using Bitcoin in few years

There are some blockchain based games already available.

The best in-game integration that I have yet seen is with Enjin. They even have their own minecraft server. There already have been games launched where you can actually earn blockchain items that look beautiful on their wallet. They use an ethereum standard called as ERC-1155 which is different from ERC-20 and ERC-721 (that cryptokitties used).

They already have a bunch of games out including:
1. A dungeon crawler: Forgotten Artifacts
2. A space shooter MMORPG: Space Misfits
3. There is a crypto puzzle game with an in-game reward of 20 BTC, Age of Rust. The alpha isn't out yet i think. It started here at the forum years ago and I believe has grown really well.
4. A PVP RPG 9Lives Arena

I am a BTC believer when it comes to cryptocurrency. In gaming, I find Enjin really credible. If you have even a slight bit interest in gaming, I encourage you to try some of their games.

A bunch of small games with tiny playerbase is nothing, in fact it's a good example of blockchain/crypto hype pretending to disrupt or revolutionize something, while in reality it's just a small experiment that is irrelevant in grand scheme of things. No serious gaming studio is talking about blockchain, they understand that it brings nothing to them, gamers don't care about it and it won't help them make better games.

Why ?
As we know that E-sport game industry keep advance from time to time and cryptocurrency also getting known so by it's simplicity , it will become the advantage for the payment

The bigger gaming companies does not want to touch Bitcoin, before it is classified as a currency by more governments. They have to adhere to their local laws and most of the governments does not officially accept Bitcoin as a currency.  Roll Eyes

I have send several emails and posted a lot of request on gaming platforms to accept Bitcoin and the answer is always the same... They cannot accept it, because it is not a recognized currency.

The smaller companies have already incorporated Blockchain technologies and Alt coins in their games.  Roll Eyes

There are some games that involves blockchain technology and crypto these days but they aren't that popular yet. Bitcoin and blockchain is not that popular as of now and many people still doesn't know the main purpose of it. Maybe in the future many big game companies will also adapt to blockchain technology if most people are aware of it.
I agree with you.  The gaming industry is not very developed with blockchain technology.  But I am sure that in the future this situation will change.  This is only the beginning of development because I believe that everything is still ahead.

They are not yet popular at this moment since blockchain and crypto in general are not that popular right now. Maybe in some countries, blockchain is popular but to use it in gaming industry is a different thing. I believe that it will be used in the future. More games that involves blockchain technology will arise in the future for sure.

IIRC, Steam was accepting bitcoins for their marketplace correct? I'm not a PC gamer so wouldn't know much about that. .
Yes they do before but they stopped accepting bitcoin payments around 2017.

Steam stops accepting payments in bitcoins

Although there are third party services now that allows you to buy steam wallet credits for bitcoin.
