Philosophy comes from two words (Greek I think). Philo eaning love and sophy meaning knowledge and philosophy therefore means the love of knowledge. In practice I believe this means a love of pondering over the deeper issues of life that most people tend to ignore in the busyness of our current times. It is the love of analyzing issues that perhaps don't have a straightforward answer and trying to apply logic and facts to these questions of life.

I think it is useful. I believe that Philosophy should be used as a guide rather than completely using as a basis of our actions. There are circumstances that philosophy is applicable then there are also times that just need common sense. It kinda depends on the person on how he or she uses philosophy in his or her life.

Does philosophy useful nowadays?

very useful because we have the science of philosophy means we have the ability to analyze openly and critically the arguments, opinions, demands and legitimations of different religions, ideologies and worldviews. In short, philosophy has always been an ideological critique. Precisely this ability is indispensable today in which culture is a market of religious and political ideas and ideologies that will persuade humans to entrust themselves blindly to them. In this situation it is necessary to be able not only to reject the ideologies dogmatically and from the outside, but to respond critically and argumentatively.
