Of course if internet goes down, Bitcoin will also down, and bitcoin will stuck on wallet, and people loat their mind Grin
But how about a hardware wallet that is connected to a debit card. I am not sure how these cards work but they should be able to transfer bitcoin to fiat on the fly.

Well this is something that wont happen, people now are more conscient,if a war starts it wont last more then some months, till the world be without any person, soo money wont save you from a nuclear bomb,or to you think send bitcoin to the bomb with a code into it or throw money to it will make it change target.

We go back to fiat, money currency. Euros, dollars, then we won't have any trade confirmations possible, and nothing would work in bitcoin. Some people would be able to still store bitcoin in offline though:)
what do you mean by saying go back? we are still on the same fiat and it will take a lot of time for this to change

i think bitcoin would disappear then wouldnt it? in order for bitcoin to exist there has to be internet for the blockchain

who cares, there will be riots people starving mass deaths.. bitcoin and fiat will be the last of your problems.

I searched this thread first prior to posting and found ONLY one instance of it being mention - Internet of Things (IoT).

If the Internet goes down, having bitcoins or money will be the least of your worries (just like in the post I quoted).
Yeah. A lot of people in the world rely on the internet everyday. But that's why you shouldn't just keep Bitcoin. You need other forms of payment like fiat or a credit card.

Well with a war happening ont the begining of such stage,i believe some people would die before the war even start, some had invested all economies at it,imagine you wont be able to get it or to the bitcoin get hacked since the hash would be providind the huge protection as before, soo if internert returns it would be a hit and a depply hit into bitcoin .
Yes that kind of war situation also would not involve all the countries in this world. So, there is no possibilities for the power to go down the same time in the entire world. But anything would be happened beyond our expectations and control.

if internet goes down that mean bitcoin will down too and useless because i didn't see other way how to use bitcoin without internet connections and i thought this is terrible things because we can't access internet and can't do anything to solve these situations
Internet is a place where bitcoin stored, without Internet bitcoin would be nothing?
It's like ask someone to cross a brige without bridge.  Internet are one of the most important part in bitcoin.

Obviously without internet bitcoin cannot be utilized. One more example to this question is it is same as asking how can i charge my laptop/phone if there is no electricity. One more thing internet goes down almost nothing can be done without that...it will not only affect to btc...it will affect to all sort of the technologies.....

I think if the internet goes down we have bigger fish to fry. Lot of people would be throwing a hissy fit over not being able to like or post a selfie. Animals win because humans are pretty dumb now when it comes to basic survival and talking about bitcoin when you are being stalked by a grizzly bear will seem fleeting.

If internet goes down BTC is dead like everything what is connected and depends on the internet. The only question is whether we are talking about permanent go down of internet or about something short term.It is difficult to imagine a world without the internet, and for BTC internet is basis of existence.

It would not be a good thing that is for sure. Bitcoin is completely dependent on the internet and the people using the internet.
If the internet goes down Bitcoin would go down with it. But this doesn't only count for Bitcoin, many other companies would go down.

Its difficult to say but most likely the bitcoin will get destroyed if this happen, in fact its of course also depending for how long.
If its just for a short period it would not be a big problem in my eyes, if it will be on a long term the bitcoin will get destroyed without any doubts.

With no internet...what happens to porn?

I believe that is the more crucial question.

That's the more crucial question for sure, That would take one of the basic and essential needs for a human being and people might *ehm* need to use magazines  Shocked

The internet going down is very unlikely at the current time IMO, there aren't as many bugs and abuse-able weaknesses now and I don't think the internet servers can be damaged currently.

it won't be usable IMO, bitcoin is so much based on the internet that it won't work without it IMO, however since that would mean the world has flipped upside down then it won't be the main issue if internet is for some reason "got broken".

Use your brain or get out a piece of paper and track your transactions offline until the Internet comes back (or is replaced) and then catch up.

A much more likely scenario is a partition where the Internet is separated into two or more pieces that can't reach each other, e.g. Chinese firewall, etc.  Both sides will continue to produce blocks, i.e. a hard fork.  The difficulty will drop on both sides.  If/when the they can reach other the "longer" chain will win and the "shorter" one will be orphaned (this is likely to make some folks unhappy).

This is easily tested; just disconnect a mining node from the network and watch how it behaves.  The difficulty is probably so high that it won't produce a viable block for ages but eventually it will and eventually it will reach the point where it can reduce the difficulty back down to where it will produce blocks on average every 10 minutes.  It will be very far behind the rest of the network when it is reconnected and all the work it did will be orphaned.

While it will probably never happen Smiley .  I think pretty much everything would be chaos, bitcoin would of course be dead until everything was working properly again.
