What will you do if some altcoin (XMR or ETH for example surpasses the value of BTC, either in market cap or by the price of a token each? Will you sell your BTC to buy the more "valuable" coin, or continue using and holding BTC? Also, what do you think are the chances that it could happen? I would like to hear your thoughts and opinions.

It's possible, however, I think for now it is not. Because as you know bitcoin started unpopular and it already had established it's name in the crypto currency world. So, I think there's no crypto currency yet that can surpass what bitcoin had gone through.

The chances that will happen is high because of competition of all altcoin. But it would take some time before it happened. If that happens I would still keep some of my bitcoin.

I think that only one coin can exceed the cost of bitcoin. The ether has a leader - Vitalik Buterin. He is actively engaged in improving this coin. I see no other options.

It is unlikely that any altcoin in the near future is able to bypass bitcoin at a price or capitalization. Too large gap. However, if such a fantastic event happens, it is always necessary to remember the high volatility of the crypto currency. Therefore, you do not need to rush to buy those coins that go to the leaders at a cost. All this can be temporary. Before you transfer a part of the currency to another, a more successful digital currency, you need to make sure that for its growth there were objective reasons. And with bitcoin if the money is to be rented, then only partially, in any case no more than thirty percent. Bitcoin will always regain his lead. Equal to it yet.

I don't think it will happen since the rest of the alt coins and other crypto currencies depend their value appreciation in bitcoin. It is consider as the mother of all cryptos and nothing will ever surpass it but just in case it happen I will still keep on bitcoin because it has serve to become the strongest among cryptos abd surely whatecer dump it may ecoerience it will still rise and appreciate

If Ethereum or Zcash bypass bitcoin in value I should be very happy as I am mining them and many others are doing the same with their rigs. The problem is this will never happen because Bitcoin is the king of the cryptos and is much more widely accepted in online stores, casinos, steam and many other website where you can pay a subscription online. No one asks for Ethereum or Monero or Zcash payment, they all ask for Bitcoin first.
Hackers or deep web user will ask you Monero first instead of Bitcoin haha, they do not use Bitcoin for their deal. Because after BTC-e exchange offline down by FBI can track the source of transaction hash through Bitcoin, it does not mean is anonymous 100% as the past.

I think it is impossible for such a thing to happen since bitcoin was the first coin and it is almost 10 years old. Also there is a huge difference of price, bitcoins price is 10 times bigger than any other altcoin.
Now bitcoin is also used in some online and offline shops and the market for it is bigger and bigger.
An altcoin cant surpass bitcoin because it has to grow a lot in a very short time wich cant happen becsuse altcoins price ar determined from bitcoin price. They all grow together. When the bitcoin price goes down also they ethereum price goes down

No. I will not sell my bitcoin because why do you sell bitcoin just to another cryptocurrency with only higher value? You can invest on both cryptocurrencies we all know bitcoin can do so just keep holding even if bitcoin is surpassed by another  cryptocurrency. For now, no one will surpass bitcoin

Does it matter if it does, I think bitcoin has a really big lead but even if another coin passes it out, that doesnt diminish the importance of bitcoin.

all there is always competition from crypto. I dont think it's a problem if there is always a superior and the most popular, the most important is in terms of benefits

Nothing is impossible. But so far so good we see the performance of Bitcoin is remarkable. keep this track in mind we sure and confidence about Bitcoin it is very difficult to surpasses by another altcoin.

We no need to worry or think about comparison of Bitcoin with another altcoin.

I doubt that another currency will surpass Bitcoin in value. But, if we assume, then I'll use both currencies.

Most comparative altcoins' to bitcoin right now is ETH and Zcash if am i not wrong,
But to cross the btc price, They have to more popular and Increase their working capital.
There is no effect on btc if altcoins its value over btc.

And it seems that it will not happen, because BTC is however the most successful pioneer of crypto. Altcoin will only exist behind bitcoin. I'm not worried though altcoin might be worth more than btc.

If ever I will still hold because bitcoin value is still high the only different now is that there is now another digital currency that surpass its value. But I think by now it will not happen.

Just like you I will still hold my bitcoins if there is another altcoin who would manage to surpass it. Bitcoin has been the most popular crypto for years and I don't think that it will die as soon as another altcoin rises. I also believed that bitcoin will not be easily surpassed, for years many people had been using bitcoin as a major equivalent token in trading. Bitcoin may decreased its value but it will not die. However, if another altcoin won over bitcoin, I hope that it will have lower transaction fees and faster transactions process.

if alt coin goes beyond the btc value, that is impossible. maybe in terms of platform, eth is superior. because many projects use blockchain eth. but btc enthusiasts will not recede because btc is the ancestor of all coins

All I know is that I know nothing.
We already had an Altoin that was worth more than Bitcoin. Check ZCASH. Nothing happened.

there has been a LOT more altcoins with a lot higher prices than bitcoin. ZCash just made more noise to become more public specially because of its mining.

someone pointed out something interesting that people always forget: when bitcoin price goes down altcoins get dumped hard. that has to show something Wink

it may happen what you say. but basically to beat the bitcoin is very difficult to happen, seeing from the influence and movement of bitcoin itself from time to time until today.
