For the current scenario I don't see any currency beating Bitcoin. Maybe Etherum can reach to even more heights because of the potential it is showing currently. But the valur of Bitcoin will still be high in future compared to other coins as the price of bitcoin will also increase with time right?. If because of any reason there is a stop in the growth of Bitcoin prices then Etherum can surpass Bitcoin in the future.

The only altcoin which is having a remote chance of surpassing the market cap of Bitcoin is Bitcoin Cash (BCH). I am quite skeptical about the other alts such as Ripple and Ethereum. Till now I haven't found anything to justify the huge market caps of these altcoins. On the other hand, BCH is having solid basics, and a good team to support.

Even BCH market demand not upto the mark when compare with the bitcoin's market capital value. It will never happen at all. Since bitcoin is the first and best digital currency none of the coins can compete with bitcoin at anytime even in future as well. Those altcoins will be able to compete with each other alone at anytime. You can invest on altcoin to make profit nothing other usage with those coins till now.

I think XMR and ETH price can get over Bitcoin price only when the total amount of Bitcoin all over the world is mined and some more hard fork happened make Bitcoin price dumped in the future. I think at that time I'll try to sold my Bitcoin before all amount of Bitcoin mined out and maybe I'll exchange some of my Bitcoin into other better altcoin. But in my opinion it only can happen in at least next 10 years.
Even when the entire number of coins that can be mined has reached the circulation, the value of bitcoin won't be overcome by other altcoins that grow high in value. Being the base always has it importance over other assets that make it more valuable due to the limited supply and increased demand.

It is unlikely that any altcoin in the foreseeable future can beat bitcoin at a cost. So far, there is no basis for such a prospect. But if this happens, I will keep a significant part of my money in bitcoin.

I think that it is almost impossible, there's still a long road of adaption for BTC and during that proces I don't think any altcoin will surpass BTCs value.
Though I think it is very possible that once the world has become adapted to BTC and crypto is a more daily practice of life that there is potential for other coins to grow bigger than BTC. But right now you have to take in account that BTC is traded mainly for all other currencies and this reaffirms its position over other coins.

What will you do if some altcoin (XMR or ETH for example surpasses the value of BTC, either in market cap or by the price of a token each? Will you sell your BTC to buy the more "valuable" coin, or continue using and holding BTC? Also, what do you think are the chances that it could happen? I would like to hear your thoughts and opinions.
The last time I checked, the was another coin which had a total supply of 85 coins and only 49.9 in circulation, I think its worth about 2.03btc I think: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/42-coin/. I recommend you read about it and edit your thread.

Back to your question, I will hold on to my bitcoins since I am aware that even if whatever coin may arise, they are still valuable. You might find that its one of those pump and dumps which falls overnight.

I do not think that this will happen, at least in the near future. Because Bitcoin can be called the original cryptocurrency, which went through a hard way of its growth, and possibly even better years of Bitcoin ahead of.

Bitcoin is the head coin, so if it raises or loses value it remains the same. So there is no use to compare bitcoin with other altcoins, people who love bitcoin always invest in it and search for other coins which is best at that time, that doesn't mean that other coins surpass BTC in value.

Your question brought me 3 months back, when I spent a week trying to find an answer for this famous question !
In fact, the statistics and the forecasts excludes that such a thing took place in the next 5 years at most, but no one can deny that the other altcoins are still in a progression that could realize that.

We live to see but al these Altcoins are just a mere copy and upgrade of Bitcoin and should they change their ways or a new coin with completely different technology can give Bitcoin a good run else the clones have nothing more to offer than they at doing currently.

I'm sure it will not happen, because btc is the benchmark of all altcoin prices, if in btc banknote it is as the primary currency of the dollar. If that's the case, then I'll replace it with the altcoin you mentioned. because I want to make a profit.

I agree that bitcoin will not be outrun by some Altcoins only you can always use the value of bitcoin as an explanation for some critics and bitcoin will still continue to be number 1 no Altcoins can surely overtake it period. no pun intended because any one you would talk to here in the forum except Kwuk if you know him, then trusting in bitcoin is a 99% must.

i think it never happen but similar to bitcoin atleast ,if that will happen i think i will go to high value coin and invest a little in bitcoin then try to be expert in new coin like i search wallet or anything to know the new coins high than bitcoin

What do you understand by the term "Altcoin "? The new coin you're talking about is an Altcoin and so no new coin can be another Bitcoin even if their operations are similar and uses the blockchain as well.
Even there are altcoins or maybe the coins from splits, like BCH will not surpass btc value, btc can recover from downs. Btc will always be the superior among any coins.

most popular and some altcoin cant be popular with out bitcoin as a mother of all coin and nothing can ever compared i think and super agree with that no coin can surpass the btc now.

If i have bitcoin i will still hold it. If altcoin surpass the value of bitcoin i would think it as a hype which means it could dump anytime.

I would not sell bitcoin, and buy that alt at that high value will also be not a wise option. But if we see a coin going towards bitcoin at market cap, it will be a good investment, even if it does not match or went pass bitcoin value.

In the future , may be some other altcoin surpasses BTC value . But for now bitcoin is 10 times the price of other altcoins . Maybe , ETH one day be able to surpass bitcoins because of its growth rate , but it is still going to take many years in order to fulfill that agenda . Bitcoin is still the most trusted cryptocurrency and most of the people tend to invest on bitcoins because of its high volatility . Many other altcoins comes and goes but the support bitcoin has is not going to be effected by all that .

None of the altcoin that has been appeared in this forum or in this field of industry surpasses the value of bitcoin, still Ethereum so far was the second to the bitcoin digital currency.
