It is impossible for status quo to remain in cryptocurrency market, the market has already falling like 80 to 90% and those that want to sell have presumably sold all that they have especially in coin like bitcoin, ethereum and the likes!
If nothing changed in 2019, then one will need to continue to do what he has been doing before and further learn how to make money from the market in any conditions of it. The truth is even this year, some still make good money in Cryptocurrency through their knowledge and skills.
I think in crypto there will always be a change, even though only a few changes such as a decrease in price or a price increase that is not too significant, it is still a "change"
2018 is not a profitable year for almost all Crypto enthusiasts. Though there's an increase in adoption of blockchain technology but almost all crypto assets have lost close to 90% of their all time high and there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel. In some weeks now, we will say goodbye to 2018 and the hope of market recovery will now cling to 2019. Though am not trying to be pessimistic but what if nothing change in 2019, what if the bear market continues unabated, will it be the end or sign of the end for Cryptocurrency because I don't think many will still continue to retain their hope if nothing positive happens at least for the first quarter of 2019.
Learn from 2018. You have to be very vigilant in entering in any project and just invest what you can afford to lose if you're really not that of a believer but for those true enthuasiast they just don't care and keep supporting and do things that they think can help the whole community in general.
Even if there is no significant change in the market come next year, some of us who are ardent believers of this idea will continue to hope in it that a time will come when the hoard will be in our favor. The truth is that market cannot be in bearish condition forever but who knows when the time will be.

Many things will change in 2019. I guess, after the fork of Ethereum in winter the cryptocurrency will gain. People will understand that ETH is great and will start showing less interest to other altcoins.

You don't need to be pessimistic and think crypto will die, crypto still has hope and in 2019 crypto will recover, think positively and don't let you be in doubt because of the collapse of crypto in 2018.
