I am using Blockchain info so they allow to recover password but if you forgot the key then got losted on life as there is someone who lost more Bitcoins just for the key.

The best measures to keep your private key safe is better you take printout and save it in your personal storage like in your locker or somewhere else and other than this you can also save it in your external hard disk and you can also upload it to your google drive or to any other cloud storage drives with strict password so that no one else can get it through any means. I am personally using all this method for saving my private keys.

In myetherwallet there has a 2 types to login your account. if you neither forget nor lose your private key, you can get the file that you downloaded when you create your wallet then upload the file to login your account. this term is called keystore/JSON File. then if you deleted your Json file and also lost your private key, you might used Mnemonic phrase to login these are the words that has a phrase or rhyme.
It's a big loss for you because you can't get more of what you have, so better it is or keep the way you think is safe, make one or two copies.Because if you lost it, it's lost forever.
