You store your seed phrase in two email addresses and also in the cloud, meaninig your seed phrase is stored in three different online and electronic locations, that's three different points of attack and failure. This is not a recommended way to store your seed phrase, sometimes i wonder whether some of you guys read the recommended advise that is repeated in this forum on a daily basis. If you had lost your seed phrase you wrote down like you said, then that is down to your own opsec.

The most recommended option is to write your seed phrase on paper and keep it in different locations or to engrave it on a steel plate. For extra layers of security, you should set up a multisig wallet or extend your seed phrase with a passphrase.
Storing the seed phrase in an email is not a good idea, even if it is divided into several parts. Email or the cloud are places where a hacker can have access, if he finds at least one part of the seed phrase, he will understand that somewhere you store the remaining parts and perhaps they are stored in similar places. In any case, this is not the most reliable storage method. It’s better to write down the seed phrase on paper and hide it in different places, but it would also be nice to write it in such a way that only you know how it is encrypted, another additional level of protection never hurts.

Well, I don't know about any other persons, but for me, the most and convenient way to safely keep my seed phrase has always been to write them down on a piece of paper and keep it in a place that is safe.
It is quite susceptible for a piece of paper to be used to store seed phrases.
Of course, you have to use other supporting methods to keep the paper safe and intact,
or you can use metal to record every seed phrase, so it won't disappear or fade.

That is the most common and earliest option to do, if that method you think is good.
Store in an airtight place such as Time Capsule which is made of stainless metal and can withstand any condition when stored anywhere.

I have never tried anything complicated as the idea op shared, but for me, I have seed phrase to most of my wallets written in multiple random notes of mine, what I do is, randomly include my seed phrases in between my notes, so that even if someone picks up that note and read, he or she won't notice anything like a seed phrase there, this is how I have manged to keep my seed phrases safe for several years now without worry.
Randomly storing it in the notes you have will also not provide the best security.
If the note is read or owned by someone else, then they can read it and when that person is also a crypto user, then solving the phrase is easy to do.

For modern backup tools, seed phrases are now available in quite a lot of types, you just need to choose which one is best in your opinion.
Like using Cryptosteel, Blockstream or printing your own seed phrase on metal using Blockmit.

Check out this list of Seed Backup Solutions, you can compare which ones are the best.

My system of savings phrases and private entry keys to my wallets and other related software accounts is that I have had this one-time email address that I never forgets the password even if I have to forget any other passwords because it is as my notebook specifically were my phrases and private keys are stored.
I am backed up the email address for authentication and verifications with an phone number and an email that is not associated with no other signatures.
With this I don't even have to keep any of my wallet accounts logged on when It is not in used because I can easily log on to my retrieval or my notebook password saving email and get whatever passwords lost or forgotten.

Alternatively, I also have a the hardware storages for my phrases and private keys taken down in between other of my written informations so as to keep off attentions from any that comes through it though it is not tolerate ably handle but with extremely conciousness so, even if anyone comes across my hardware passwords storages it would be unreasonable to em about what it is about but verily identifiable and best known to me.

I have started a simple strategy of sharing the seed phrase from my personal email to alternative email so it's there in two separate places and also uploads the same in cloud.

I have also tried this method before. Writing it on a piece of paper to keep your seed phrase is a good strategy, however, it is prone to getting eaten by cockroaches/rats. Unless you have a vault where you can guarantee the security of your seed phrase that is written on a piece of paper. That's why I switched to using a plate with my seed phrase on it. This way, I can remove worrying whether my seed phrase is still safe or do I need to switch again as this method lasts longer.

People are saying that using Google Drive is not safe which I also tried before, since then, I have transferred all my documents/files/important information offline where I can secure it myself rather than letting it be exposed online.

You can write it on a steel plate or on paper, but it most important thing is that you should have up to three back ups that you should keep in three different location very far from each other, where only you can have access to.
save my seed phrase offline in notebook and online in google drive.
It is not save to store your seed phrase online because it has been exposed to the public and anyone can have access to your seed phrase. You might wake up one morning and your wallet has been compromised by scammers. Go and delete it and store it only offline.
Is it unsafe for me to keep on Google Drive? I've been keeping my seed phrase in google drive for quite some time now but so far I haven't had a problem. Here I want to say that I have not given anyone access to my google drive, if I don't give anyone access, how can they access my google drive?

Just because you didn't have any problems storing your seed phrase using an online storage service, it doesn't mean you'll continue to be safe in the future . Do hackers or viruses need to ask your permission before they want to attack your data? That is why online storage is never recommended because we can be attacked at any time. Meanwhile, storing private keys/seed clusters offline will help us be more proactive in protecting them. You're putting your bitcoins in danger, man.
Yes, you do have a point, but the thing is, if for him Google Drive is safe and he doesn't encounter any problems, then so be it. The safety of his property will depend on the owner, so we can't dictate it. Even if we want to advise other people about what is safe or not, the call will be with the owner. We have different ways of storing our seed phrase; it depends on what they know is safe or what they only know. What the real problem is is that even if the owner of the accounts keeps their accounts, seed phrase, or any kind of password, if the owner makes a little mistake and the hackers or malicious malware get into it, then it will be a problem. There's nothing safe on the internet. Remember that, as long as we are connected to the internet, we have no privacy or what. The safety will depend on the owner itself.

The idea you Ave mentioned is great as it will keep the seed phrase safe and I would probably think of t if I am hodling a huge amount of crypto in a particular wallet. But at the moment it's too much of an hassle for me and as a person who had already lost seed phrase of blockchain wallet in the past by writing and keeping it somewhere I have started a simple strategy of sharing the seed phrase from my personal email to alternative email so it's there in two separate places and also uploads the same in cloud.

Every method has risks, none offer absolute safety, but storing seed phrases online is always an unwise idea. Because the possibility of being attacked will be higher than if we store it offline. Online storage will bring us convenience and easy access anywhere as long as we have an internet connection, however the risk of online attacks is great and we will not be able to prevent it. Meanwhile, by storing offline you will be more proactive when detecting danger.

A question for you, have you ever thought about the main scenario: you can't access your email, and Google suddenly locks or deletes your gmail? You are using centralized services and they have enough rights to do that without asking your permission.

To those that say to the other person storing the seed in google drive isn't safe... is that person storing it in notepad and putting that document in google drive or just entering your seed in google drive?  I'm not sure how you store your seed in google drive unless you mean typing the seed in some type of document whether notepad, microsoft word or whatnot?  Is that what is meant?  Now if you enter your seed in a password manager and store that password in the password manager, that is safe right?

Storing your seed on a notepad file on the cloud is a pretty bad idea. But if one had to store it on the cloud I would use an encrypted Microsoft PDF file.

To take it a step further, place your encrypted PDF file as an attachment in a Keepass encrypted database file.
Then you upload your Keepass file onto your Google Drive or other cloud-based service such as a password manager.
And of course, always back your seed with a 25th word passphrase aka hidden wallet.

In the event your cloud server is ever hacked, the hacker would then need to break through several more layers of security before they could access your seed. Good luck with that.

The potential drawback of all these layers of security is having to memorize multiple different passwords for each of the layers. If you forget just one of them, you are screwed.
So you better be damn sure you have fully committed to memory and internalized each and every one. And practice using them at least once a week until you can recall each of them by heart
without even thinking about it. As the saying goes use it or lose it. You may think you have something completely memorized right now but if you haven't used it in many  months it would be easy to forget it.

Of course, you could just use the same password for all of your layers but that would kind of defeat the purpose of having multiple layers of security, now wouldn't it?
You could have it all written down somewhere on a physical medium such as paper but then you risk losing the paper or it getting destroyed, or forgetting where you have hidden it.

The 12-24 word seed phrase etched on a steel sheet, with 2(not split up) copies, in 2 separate locations that you have easy access to, and packaged in a way where you know if someone has gained access to either of these steel sheets; plus using a secure passphrase. That should be more than enough. Less complexity, less chance of error.

Also, personally not a fan of digitization.
I plan to do this in the future but to make it a bit more attracting to look and not just some steel plate. I'm planning to do a Magic the Gathering theme steel plate where I would store my seed phrase on one side and have a decoration on the other. This is definitely the best way to secure your seed phrase but for those that can't afford it, I suggest using some sort of cardboard that you can put it in a plastic sleeve or something like you are storing some Pokemon cards to preserve their condition. Another additional but useful thing you can do is buy a small safe but you have to make sure that no one knows about that safe as small safe can easily be lifted unlike the bigger ones.

The best way to store your seed phrase is offline. Aside that online would be regarded unsafe no matter how careful you claim to be.when it comes to offline storage there is actually no best way because the best way is that which you can store it offline without a third party knowing about it.This is because every individual has his special way of storing their seed phrases offline.
so writing on papers or engraving on stone and many others doesn't really matter so long the seed is as safe as possible.

I agree, It's better to keep it offline or better to keep it under both online and offline because there's a pros and cons by doing both. Just like what I did, I keep it in my physical notepad so that I have my copy incase there's an unfortunate happen in my online accounts or mobile devices where I kept it, and the other way is I keep it in my google documents and mobile notepad incase my physical notebook will lost or destroyed unexpectedly. We will do everything just to keep safe our seed phrase and we all have different ways on doing it.

Okay it's mentioned opening 4 bank safe deposit boxes is only needed if you have a lot of money.  Well even if you don't, but it's a decent amount, isn't that the safest way though?  Okay I mention those 4 banks have to be far from each other but let say they aren't that far then.  Would that be okay or unnecessary?  Also the people that say the put their seed phrases in 2 locations... you putting the entire seed phrase in each of the 2 locations?  I assume yes but you have to break it into 2 parts right?  Since if anyone has access to it, well there's the seed?  Also is a passphrase recommended or not?  Since if you have that, well someone having access to the seed phrase can't do anything without it.  Now where would you put your seedphrase?  You can type that in your password manager and store it in a usb and also the cloud?  Or is that not recommended?  People say don't store the seed phrase online but how is storing the passphrase a big issue?  That seems to be recommended?

Is it unsafe for me to keep on Google Drive? I've been keeping my seed phrase in google drive for quite some time now but so far I haven't had a problem.
You only have to have problem once and your money will be gone. My advice is to transfer your money while you still have it to a new wallet and store your seed phrase properly, offline.

Here I want to say that I have not given anyone access to my google drive, if I don't give anyone access, how can they access my google drive?
Ever heard of hacking? These kind of things can happen to even the most careful& vigilant ones (btw, you don't strike me as one) and for that reason no one who actually cares about stuff like that will use Google Drive to share anything sensitive.

Regarding the question in OP, I store my seed phrase in two separate locations and I have contingency plan set in case something happens to me.

Seems to me the best way to store a seed phrase with a hardware wallet would be write your seed phrase down twice and break it into 2 parts.  Also make sure you have a passphrase for the hardware wallet.  Now you open 4 safe deposit boxes at 4 different banks.
That should be only when you have $1 million worth of Bitcoin in that hardware wallet, because anything lesser than that, I don't think it's worth such stress of storing Seedphrase in 4 different banks at a far away distant places, but rather for me, the best way I think is the safest way to stay your Seed Phrase is by a craving it on a metallic durable material capable of withstanding the test of time without wear and tear, while arranging it in a format only you and you alone can understand how it's meant to be (i.e either vertically, horizontally or diagonally). But anything other than that, I personally don't subscribe to it, but I don't know for others.

Because you have been riding a motorcycle without a helment and you're yet to get hurt, doesn't mean that it is safe to do so. Your seed phrase should not be stored online or electronically, because anything that is online is prone to hacking, and your seed phrase could be compromised in this way. Write your seed phrase down on paper, engrave it on steel or back it up with washers, but don't store it in your Google drive or anywhere online.

I stand with Palestine.
As we can see that many members have given meny suggestions and this forum has many threads regarding this topic. And OP has also shared his/her point of view.

Some people try to store screenshots of the seed phrase or store this sensitive information online which is really a bad Idea. Some of them store the seed phrase offline like they writen it on a paper or on a notebook and save it in a safe place.

This is an individual decision everyone make this decision according to his/her taste. If you ask me what I do? So I always store the seed phrase offline I mostly use a pen and paper to write down the phrase and save it to my safe place.

Safety is not only in complexities, safety can also be obtained from simple methods and strategies. A simple method when practiced correctly can even be safer than a complex method wrongly practiced. Many bitcoin forum members will suggest complex ways that they do not even practice themselves, just to sound technical.

Trying to make things complex can make things difficult for you.

Most of the different ways mentioned in this thread on how to safely store seed phrases are effective, so it depends on very individual to choose the best option that suits them. But have you considered in the event of war, or natural disasters where the places that you stored and hide the seed phrases got destroyed? I think that in addition to keeping them safe, it's important also to memorize them. This is no doubt a very big task, but it is worth memorizing twelve or twenty four words that contains your valuable assets. You can be refreshing your memory once in a while by going through the words now and then. Except a big impact like accident that can erase ones memory, it remains the best storer of information, all you need is to remember anytime you need the information.

I use a Dremel tool and I edge it into the top of a mason jar lid.  Then of course that lid is placed in a private spot.  My wife and son-in-law know those locations and nobody else.  I wouldn't want my crypto to get lost if something happens to me.

be smart, be safe
Enjoy the day
