I would say 0.1btc.
This is how much i started trading with and have made well over 4x that amount back so that is all you really need to start out your luck. And if you don't have any then you wouldn't have lost too much to try you hand in it.

What is the minimum amount to start as a trader?
No need a big amount to start trading if want to trade start in altcoin any amount you can buy a altcoin. Then wait to get high that voin before you sell it. Altcoin trading is profitable so buy low and sell high.

There is no minimal amount, you can start with any amount you want and feel safe with. That is all beauty of Bitcoin trading, you don't have upper or lower boundaries. You can start with very small amount that is no big deal if you lose and slowley increase the amount how you are geting more experienced and skilled. With time trading gets under your skin, so you will want more.
It's true that you can start with any amount, but don't expect to make any significant kind of profit with small amounts, especially when trading Bitocoin.

If you already know a bit about trading, I would start with around 1000 or 2000 dollars, if that's an amount you feel comfortable with.

Best to start small and trade with a couple of million satoshis to
get used to the markets and minimise risk, when you get comfortable then you
can always scale up - I've taken that approach and am doing pretty well so far.

Yes, start with the small amount on trading especially when you are just  a beginner,
and the most and greatest rule on trading for me, trade only the amount you can afford to lose.

no minimum limit for trading. but if you want to get a bigger profit then you should have a large capital as well. you just choose the right time to buy and sell bitcoin.

At least a right answer...Congratulations !!!

yeah there's no minimal amount but be sure to have amount higher than the fees itself and if you are going to trade and currently having few thousand satoshi and then forget about it. you must gather even more satoshi until it reached mbtc and you will be fine on your trading. having ultra low amount will only drive you mad at the end when you're really serious on it

Agree with you, that is really a good procedure to be follow, not only in trading but in gambling too, if you are new in gambling and do not know any thing about it, you should try to start from investing a little amount and when you learn and get some experience about gambling then you can increase your betting. But, practically gambling and trading are not same.

as all kind of trading are risky and specially if you have no experience in trading. therefore if you are new in trading then you should try to start from a little amount of bitcoin, and when you learn the tricks of trading and gain some experience then you should start trading with big amount.

That's why I can suggest that if a newbie wants to try trading then that's the first he must do, to know the basics and there's no shame that you are studying first on how the market moves and its circulation. Because we've been all through there, so when you think you are already good enough. Then that's the start with minimum amount probably 0.005 BTC is already a good start.
Money management has needed at the trading phase.  Minimize the risk. But it won't mean for sue you learn all of the phases in trading.
It will run for naturally at we have done with the trading activities. 0.005 is a little amount but it's not being worthy. The better pair will be beating over 0.

Hey mate,
Starting to trade is a bit hard especially to the beginners like you, and me 
So talking about the amount to be trade, I guess this tip will be the tip with almost wise man who starts on trading too, trade only the amount you are ready to lose onto, because you do not know what will be the result of your trading and it is just like investment, investing to something you do not know what will become to.
And one more thing, make some research when you trade, and think so many times on this, it takes time to do so but it is ok, as long as you are sure with what will come up. Time is not hindrances, just make timing on that.

Being successful in trading doesn't depends either small or big amount that you will invest. As long as you know how to make a successful trade then it will be fine. Trading is risky but you can minimize it if you let your self study and learn the process.
Yes, that is the reason there is no common thumb rule on minimum capital amount requirement for a successful trading. A skilled trader will manage into maximum profits from small initial capital itself. But, we are here discussing about new traders, for them some less than $50 would be enough capital for both bitcoin trading and altcoin trading.
I am glad I had started my trading even less then $50. I just invested 0.1 BTC when bitcoin prices was trading around $240. It means I managed to be successful with my trading with less then $25 as trading capital.

I am still sticking with only altcoin trading and I do not prefer to go for bitcoin/usd trading as it might require more capital amounts. I'm just making my own technical analysis, that might be the prime reason I have survived with my minimum capital amount.
and specially if you  are a newbie in trading then you must start trading with a very very little amount of bitcoin as you first need to get some experience about trading and then you can go for good trading.
As you can start trading from any amount of bitcoin, because there is no limit in investing bitcoin, and the second reason is that there are so many cheap prices crypto currencies which can be traded from a very little amount of bitcoins. But it is also a fact that if you are a newbie then you should start trading with a very little amount.

i think we can start with 0.001 btc for minimum amount for first time and after we can make profit, then we can increase our trading amount and start again until we have make profit. we do this over and over until we have a big profit in one time trading but its need a time to get big profit and its need many experience for this. better to get stable profit with the small until medium amount to make the profit.

1,000 satoshis are enough for some traders to make profits and some people lose their money even in the scale of 1 to 10 bitcoins, yes don’t get surprised. A trader is a person who analyzes the market condition and trade according to it. You should invest your time first in order to start the trade instead of putting money first. Gain experience with small amount trades and then eventually increase your capital. You can start trade with any amount you wish, good luck.
Starting on small amounts would be the ideal move when you do tend to engage trading for the first time because if you decided to put up directly huge amounts, for sure that money will be gone in an gradual way.Knowledge and experience would be the key to be successful on trading and we all know that its not an easy thing because doing trading is not just buying low selling high thing. It requires analysis and experience which you could able to gain when you are trading up for a matter of time.
Every trader must start from small amount to ensure the lessen or loses, you will be gambling if you start with a bigger amount as you do not have the right experience and knowledge that will give you more chance of success in the future.

i agree with and this is what i do in my first time trading and i remember that i only use 0.003 btc to buy xem and waiting for a daily before i decide to sell it and get my first profit. its a good experience for me and i think almost trader will have this experience.

It’s always great to learn a process step by step because we get to explore things in layers and that helps us to understand things and how it works. I always focus on gaining practical knowledge and when I started trading or peer to peer lending, I started with the lowest required amount and then eventually increased the amounts over the period of time. Such practice helps me to learn the things in deep and this is my personal approach and anyone can have totally different opinion and I respect that too.

1,000 satoshi? You must be kidding. That's even less than the minimum amount per transaction in trading sites. Remember that trading is an investment too and I don't think 1,000 satoshi is a reasonable amount of capital in investment. You can't even get $1 out of your pocket? 1,000 satoshi is just one claim away from faucet sites. 1,000 satoshi wouldn't get you somewhere even if the price of the altcoin you bought goes 100x (which is very unlikely).

No, I am not. One can start trading with 1000 satoshi but you are forgetting one most important thing and that is platform. Trading not always means buying and selling bitcoins on a particular website (that’s the traditional method). Trading has very large scope and that includes trading on open platforms where there are no third party fees, buying with one payment and selling with many platforms. One must be innovative, prompt and capable of taking risks, that’s what trading is all about in my opinion.

I honestly haven't heard of a platform (aside from altcoins) where you are allowed to trade with amounts as low as 1000 satoshi's. Can you name up a platform where you're allowed to trade with amounts that low? Not that I am going to use it, but just to see what their terms are when it comes to executing orders that small.

When I said platform, it means an opportunity and not any particular website or exchange. For an example if someone wants bitcoin in exchange of some other stuff (altcoin or usd in sites like paypal or payoneer) then we can take 10% to 50% extra margin for rendering service (let’s assume both of them are Bitcointalk members) and thus there will be no third party fees so in this case platform is an opportunity not traditional exchange websites.
