Exactly, most addictions occur because they are triggered by an obsession with winning at first, where this obsession can occur in a person due to various factors, it could be like what you said, namely seeing other people who have succeeded in achieving big wins that change their lives or because of the influence of increasing dopamine levels in the brain when they succeed in achieving a number of wins, which triggers an increase in interest because of the hope of getting the same rewards as they have received before until finally they become addicted without realizing it.

You said something right that this is why we are always advised to only make gambling a place of entertainment, the reason is because when your main goal is not money, then you will not be too excessive in treating an activity.

It's very simple, the delusion of making millions is what makes a lot of people addicted to,..you can't achieve financial freedom with gambling, the moment you accept this thought I don't think you'd let yourself become addicted to it.. gambling addicts go through a lot of crisis and the most common one is being bankrupt and indebted, borrowing money to gamble has to the height of it all, it's something that's not rational but when that addiction takes over they would do anything just for them to gamble.. Gambling is indeed a vice and has done more harm than good.

Two wrong ways of looking at gambling in one place: seeing it as a means to obtain financial breakthrough and escape poverty, which will lead the gambler to spend more of what they have trying to profit from what they don't have control over, and the more money they try, the deeper they get into it.

Those who also see gambling as a means of escaping their problem might not entirely get addicted to it, but they themselves will get into more problems as their losses will increase their emotional stress compared to what they are already facing.

Money is a driven factor why you see people get addicted to gambling, you can never see people addicted to gambling because they love the game or because they spend all their days in casino, it's the money motivation but what they don't understand is they don't look around how many people exactly had made money from gambling. Only few people makes money from gambling, majority lose money to it, the average guy just make something and don't lose all the a time.

If gambling is really a profitable business for individuals, a lot of casinos would be hot bankrupt and wouldn't be able to function isn't it, hardly you see casino enter into debts, it's always profit making this is why it's profitable for companies because the odaa is always in their favour while the average guy goes home with nothing. Getting rich quickly has been the downfall of many individuals. Not only in gambling but in other online schemes they involve themselves. But they fail to understand that any quick way of getting money that is not guaranteed is also the fastest way to go bankrupt. This means they might get into debt and be unable to pay their debt. Gambling does not guarantee financial freedom, it should be done with the mindset that it's not the main focus for us to get wealthy. Only a few persons were lucky enough to win huge in gambling. Gambling only favors the few and make the masses go in pains.

You are right.
Sometimes many gamblers gives themselves false hopes, and it leter turns out to be horrible for them because they did not know what they were doing. However, one of the easiest ways a gambler gets addicted to gamble is because they have seen someone that have won huge money from gamble (out of luck) and they thinks it's easy to win and they wagered huge money if money on their bets. Along the line, if they eventually lose the money they chase their losses and that's how they become addicted to gamble gradually.

When people win a prize, in this case trading a small amount of money for a larger amount of money, then it releases "happy chemicals" in their brain. Just like when people have sex and orgasm or take drugs - happy chemicals can fire off in your brain, which often means people associate that activity with feeling better. Now that is true early on, but the more you play it - the more desensitized you get to the happy chemicals and you want to chase an even bigger high. Then comes in the habit forming behavior, if you're able to control yourself and play small amounts - it is easy to break free. However if you start playing again, day after day, becomes week after week but all that time you are chasing a high that you're never going to reach again, to the point where you might forget the original joy it brought to you.

IMO its a multiple reasons why people become addicted to gambling. Its:

The allure of making profit is a massive draw especially as a lot of people believe they
can "beat the bookies"

Starting to win bets and making profits can be very addictive and can seem like
"easy money"

It was, it is, and will always be money. Not just any money but that which is tax-free (or already taxed) thus clean, fast, and without any particular effort or studies. The life of both the player and those around him can change in a split second. Everybody wants to get the jackpot and even if they did catch it at some point, the feeling and the idea that you can be the next millionaire is very hard to replace and becomes an addiction.

You should know that everybody does not have a strong mind, and for those who are weak in their minds, gambling addiction can happen to them very fast because their minds are not fighting it as they should, they have weak willpower due to that. It doesn't mean they don't know about investment or business. They know very well that only investment and business can provide real benefits, but this requires a fairly long and complicated process, while they are lazy enough to learn and want to follow the process. So in the end they run to gambling, they place bets in the hope that it will be multiplied.

Since primitive times, people have competed for benefits with each other to make life less difficult and more comfortable with daily material things, this need is still the criterion and lasts until this stage but more clever people have appeared, they do not use force, they use brain to create traps like gambling. I know few reasons how people get addicted to gambling.

For some reason, some people think they are going to crack the code to win in gambling and keep trying testing their fate and in the process they get addicted to gambling.

Some people are so desperate for money that instead of investing it they gamble the money in the hope to win big money in a short term but end up losing it. So they decide to chase losses and in the process they get addicted to gambling.

Scientifically speaking, winning releases dopamine in our body and hence we get a good feeling when we win. Some people like this "feel good" property of winning in gambling and keep trying to get that feeling and in the process they get addicted to gambling.
