Talking about how it felt for me is really an overwhelming feeling. Im started to used this forum 2017, and it took me 2 years before I start to post like a normal person who doesn't thinking of airdrops and bounties. This where Ive started anf my focus upon joining but I realized thats not how you live up here in forum. I was a member rank that time, and everytime I almost near the goal of ranking up, its makes me feel so happy that you can say " Oh shit, I almost there, all the hardworks of creating valuable topics is worth it".

I already had high rank when merit system was launched, so I haven't rank up yet, despite that I earned over 350 merit, so I can't tell how it feels. I still need almost 150 merit Cheesy.
At least, there is an upcoming rank that awaits for you dude. Im sure even you mentioned youre not emotional, there always a bit of it that will gives you satisfaction of a long accumulation of merits.

We're quite the same. I'm already a Sr. Member even before the merit system began. Though I don't get merits that much, I don't lose heart. It's just a reminder that I have to do better.

But when the time comes for me of ranking up, our reaction would be the opposite. If you would have a calm face expression, I'd surely be ecstatic and wear a really big smile on my face. For all I know, I could possibly cry because of too much happiness! That moment is just something worth celebrating for me. Wink
You are lucky to get the airdropped rank and merit. From what I see, users from old era often are worse in merit earning. I don't know why that happens because they joined the forum earlier, spent more time here and they have better knowledge and they should earn more merit than new era members.

I have my feeling that it is more easily acceptable if one person start and has to face with challenges, then through time and challenge adaptation, he will grows well and is more comfortable with such challenge. On the other hands, if one person start with something easy, he will have bad feelings and struggle to adapt to later challenges.

I have felt an increase in account ranking 5 times so far because I am a new user after the merit system was launched in the forum. I feel amazing when I can reach a new rank because it is the result of hard work and my consistency in posting thing that are useful for the community. I have received 527 merit during my forum trip since 2018 and now I am on my way to Legendary ranking which still requires 473 merit.

Although lately my merit earn has decreased but I will not give up and say that as a form of failure I made a useful post. Regarding merit, I think it really depends on the user rating for the post we made and I just tried for it and let them evaluate it.

The forum is quite an otherly and well moderated one such that one with the mindset of boosting in ranks regardless of what he or she posts is an abolished fantasy which is commendable. It ensures purity of the forum, lives no room for ambiguous rubbish and motivates newbies to think, research and understand what the forum and world of Bitcoin as a cryptocurrency and other alternate cryptos are all about. Each time you want to type, it's just got to be the right content and if you don't, you can barely grow in rank. Hence, these lives a lot of we newbies in wonder how it really feels.
Have you ever wondered what it felt like to grow in rank?
That's a question for the newbies as I am myself one. This question has and still puzzles my mind on how it really feels. I guess a lot of you with ranks now where once in these shoes. I guess I'll find out in time by experience soon enough how it does feel. In the meantime, how about some you guys tell us, how you really felt.
We would love to hear it!
How about experienced

It will somehow depend on how you really achieved the merits you have for a certain rank. It feels sweeter when your really work hard for the merits, prouder when you really acquired certain sets of knowledge reading through the topics, confident when you know you contributed to a certain topic with a quality post.

I think it will always differ with the investment you gave getting that rank. One good investment is time, spend time reading a lot here. Learn and try to get knowledge here, its literally everywhere.

It stopped and minimized spamming from new members, and people are motivated to contribute useful post in the forum merits has become a big help for the whole community,

It has cut down on the spam posted by people in low grade sig campaigns simply because many of them can't gain the rank to get on them.

But members often keep plugging away with crappy posts for years somehow believing their genius will be recognised without addressing why they're not progressing.

No one needs to be a genius or scholar to gain merit, they just have be a little thoughtful about their approach here. What's clear is that most are spray and pray and are too stupid or idle to get beyond that.

Actually, the issue of ranks came later, I was more than a year doing eventual posts, for me the posts are the most valuable in any forum before anything, of the forums where I was in my beginnings even before the XXI, the Contribution was paramount, adding value to an existing conversation was essential, wanting to make repeated contributions made in your words, it was simply erased, the moderators of that time were not moderators, they were dictators, but they were also formators.

If you understand that, it is essential to grow, generally the moderators are of great help, since their actions as I said are a very fair measure of your work in each sector of the forum where you participate.

With that idea, I came to the forum so much so, that not if someone has done it but far from celebrating my first merit, what I did was celebrate my post 100 very happily, seriously, today I think that my local board must have thought that does this guy celebrating his post 100. (laughs)

Nowadays I alternate my celebrations of getting my 100 post (I still keep updating the post) with those of getting the merits and I still think that in my case reaching 1000 post will mean something incredible and if they have the added merit, well!... welcome nM.

Just put common sense to each post, think about the contribution before simply launching your opinion, although a forum is written participation, there must always be something that must be useful to the discussion, not always one achieves it, but perhaps the Merits be your coaching indicator of how you are doing it.

Finally:You are not only excited by your results but also by your colleagues, look at this graph:

I'm very happy, if rank go up. This means the post is useful for some people in this forum. This is happiness and pride. I learned from the senior post. Merit system is very influential for this forum, just look at this time, many quality posts in this forum.

It stopped and minimized spamming from new members, and people are motivated to contribute useful post in the forum merits has become a big help for the whole community, in the olden days you just need activity and you will eventually rank, but now you have to be more active and a provider of good content, and that will keep the forum to go for a long time.

There was a time when it was much easier to take the account into a good position. Ever since the merit system was introduced, it has not been as easy as before. You must have the ability to post well developed posts otherwise you can't do anything here now. Know well first then post. It is not possible to improve your account rank without good quality posts. Currently moving a new account to the highest level really hard thing.
Indeed. It was easier back in the days to make your account rank up as long as you are very active in this forum. But as you have said, since the merit system introduced, it has been hard to make your account rank up or make it in a high position because you need to make a good quality post that will help other members in engaging in cryptocurrency.

It is a matter of pride to take one's account to a better position. You must get merit to get the account in good condition and the prerequisite of Merit is to post you very well and meaningfully. You need to have a very good knowledge or idea about the topic you are going to write. In this way it is possible to take an account to a better position. Focus on your spelling and grammar. Write in a language that everyone can easily understand.

I had to rank from Hero to Legendary after the merit system introduction, and it was a little fun to finally reach the highest rank, especially considering that I had to get 500 merit, but overall it was nothing too exciting. I'm looking forward towards celebrating when I'll earn 1000 merit, so I will be able to consider myself a self-made Legendary, but I don't do anything special to earn merit - I don't try to make high-effort posts, guides, translations, etc.

From my perspective, ranking up so far felt both good and bad. Of course, I enjoyed earning my first merit, which helped me leave behind the Newbie rank, and also all the other merits which brought me to a Hero rank even since I was Full Member. But to he honest, I felt best when I was a Full Member and I think that another rank I'll enjoy a lot will be the Hero rank.

I don't like too much the Sr. Member and Legendary ranks as I feel like being old lol. But that's just a personal impression. I am Sr. Member since April 2020 and it feels like I am a very old man. And I believe I'll have the same feeling once I'll achieve the Legendary rank. Maybe I'll start a new account by then, to have another challenge. Maybe an account to use on my mobile phone, like GazetaMobile (I took this idea from LoyceMobile).

The Hero rank sounds great - like being a true hero Smiley But Sr. Member sounds like a grumpy old man and Legendary as an even older man.

These replies make me want to start chasing for a high rank in this forum! Honestly interesting to see everyone's unique stories on how they joined the forum and ranked up throughout the years.

What for do you need high rank? You can chat and use forum with any rank. Only newbies have to wait a bit before  making a new post. Also, you can fully use forum only by reading it and without even being registered.

High ranks only profit from bounties, but bounty times are gone. There now highly paid bounties anymore. You can wear a signature as an act of support. For this, Jr.Member is enough Wink

Ranking up starts with a warm feeling in your toes, then it works its way up your legs and when it reaches the mid section your bowels let go. Pray you don't rank up when on a plane.

When you hit legendary the process is randomised which adds to the excitement as you never know when it'll happen.

I ranked up before the the merit system was introduced when it was much easier. You didn't have to do anything other than stick around shitposting enough junk for enough time. I can imagine people who ranked up entirely from merit earned must find it a very satisfying process.

If there was no merit system and no rankings, then there would have not been much interest to post actively in the forum.

Many are here for money and the only reason they're concerned with rank is the opportunities to make more of it that it brings. If you didn't need rank for that I doubt many would care at all.

This question strife to my inner mind as it hit on my eyes, bitcointalk journey wouldn't be an easy journey if you create your mindset of earning money, it is very easy if your mind is set for sharing knowledge, through quality posting, then you good to go. Many newbies failed to understand this at all costs that's why many dropped out from the community.

Moreover, your activities are full of bounty reports which will really deprive you of earning merits here in the community. You can take a look at my bitcointalk journey testimony from zero to member.  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/congratulatory-poem-to-myself-5257402

Of course, you will be happy since you have achieved something but that feeling will only remain for a short time. After that, things will be the same as before. It's like the same feeling working hard for homework, and after getting a satisfying score, you wipl be happy because it just shows that someone appreciated your hard work.  But after that, it will just become part of your journey since what really matters is the thing you have learned from doing the homework, not the score you got but it will also encourage you to do even better.

You can also earn merit if you know you are deserving of one, you just need to give quality in your post. Soon, you will also be able to know how it feels. Good luck.

Indeed, the merit system challenges me for real. You know the feeling of posting as hard as you can and then go to your profile the moment you log in once again to know whether you able to get at least a single merit or not? That's what I feel most of the time. So thrilling! It makes my heart skip a beat Grin. Though I don't get merits sometimes but that's fine with me, getting nothing doesn't make me hate this forum. It actually encourages me to grind harder because I'm not really contented with 71 merits. I want to have more.

The wide variety of topics here is also one of the main reasons why I'm still interested in this forum. It really tests my brain to cope in various discussions. I'm used on solving math problems and thought it was the hardest to understand but d*mn economics and technology (mainly crypotocurrency) is more complex lol. I'm still a newbie when it comes on those topics that's why I remain eager to stay here to contimue learning Cheesy.
