my advice is better you buy NEO or EOS to be a long-term investment, because the price I'm sure will increase in the future.
All digital asset in top 10 ranking is best choice, but if you would like to buy 3 or 4 different coins, in my opinion ETH, XLM, NEO, EOS will be has strong demand and massive potential. All those coins was give huge profit for early investor and possible the price will going up again in a few month. 
You can surly buy ETH. Because ETH is the very good coin and it price will be very nice. Although ETH price is low now but surly it come back again strongly and you can get huge profit with ETH. Buy now and wait for good profit.

I would split $10000 on five pieces of $2000. Will invest the first four in Bitcoin, Ethereum, NEO and Litecoin. The fifth part I would invest in two or three new and promising tokens.

i will suggest you to invest your 50% in alts 20% in eth and keep 30% as usdt... market can dip anytime and then you will have $$ to buy the btc in cheap and sell at high again to get some more profit
