We all know the beginning stage is not easy as a newcomer needs to be patient. Atleast he or she should be getting no matter how little some reward for their resources in terms of time and materials.
I joined the forum and all I told some people around me about it, the next question is," how much have u earned", I was absolutely discourage as I remained mute till date.
Op Dont be discouraged , a journey of hundred miles starts with one step ,merit will come At the right time but try And understand the forum rules And regulations , learn How To contribute To post And as well  learn How To make quality post .I have Read some of the post made My High ranked members since I joined the forum And I understood that they earn their merits as a result of their quality post And reasonable contributions ,So earning merits here is actually based on the quality nature of your post .

Just answer it with nothing LOL.
Right now with your current rank, you will not earn anything aside from some useless tokens coming from bounty campaigns (altcoins). Money-wise it will be hard for you to earn still, and just tell the truth to them. Why choose to be silent?

Do you not consider "knowledge" as a reward? Tell me about another forum that gives lots of knowledge like this forum. Take note that it's free. What reward are you saying? Oh, it's money. You already said that it's really hard at the beginning. It's the same as applying for a job. If you are inexperienced and don't have any knowledge at all, it will be hard for you at first, but over time as you learn more and more, it will be easier to apply and get a job. You said that newbies need to be patient, and they need to. The problem nowadays is that people don't have the patience to wait for something, and they want the rewards to be instant. Like what's happening to the world already. Cheesy

Just do your sh*t here in the forum, and don't let negative thoughts interfere you. If you're here to learn then focus on it. If you're here to earn then focus on it as well. I mean you can do both though.

Merit is subjective you can get a merit for providing information, affirming a given answer, or just providing a discussion, there is no one rule and there are no rules for merits, it's a form of appreciation or validation, you just do what others here are doing by participating in a discussion and just make the information you provided valid and up to date.
Make your post unique and based on your knowledge that it's right and up to date do not provide information that you will just copy outside of this forum and make it your own opinion, many newbies fall to this mistake, in trying to impress others they violated the rule of plagiarism

...the next question is," how much have u earned", I was absolutely discourage as I remained mute till date.

There's a problem somewhere and that problem is that you do not know your purpose in this group. If I may ask, is you purpose here to earn merits? Secondly, people asking you how much merits you have earned do not also know their purpose here. Merits can be earned by crooks but that cannot be said about knowledge. If you look around, you will discover that there are some merit give away threads but there's no knowledge give away threads. In terms of earnings, there are three things you can earn;
  • First you earn knowledge
  • Your earned knowledge will help you make quality posts to earn merits
  • Your earned merits will enable you join signature campaign to earn bitcoin

Re: What thread can earn newcomers merit
Threads were something substantial is discussed and not a random thread like "I love Elon musk". There are also give away threads like that of fillippone if it's what you are asking about.

And to add here, I noticed when you created a thread in the scam accusations board with very valid proofs,
such as a new project having signs of potentially scamming their investors like fake profiles, fake address,
and other solid proofs that they are heading to screw people. The creator thread usually earns merit for exposing such fraud.
And in terms of earning merit, if you will chase earning one, you may get disappointed.
Just continue doing your work, be sincere about it, but don't expect someone will give you merit. It will come unexpectedly.
Remember, most merit sources are not active in giving merits.

It is true that beginners face difficulties in obtaining merit, but their eraning merits are constantly growing, while alternative accounts know how to collect merit points quickly, and when they reach their goal, the spoilers begin, so if you really want to learn, you will gain merits slowly, but it will be sustainable.
You're right and this is why I'm never in the mood to applaud any newbie account I see gathering merit because I summarily conclude  that it's an alt of a highly ranked account. Not as if it's any offence to the best of my perspicacity but applauding them is already a waste of such encouragement.

Going forward, I advise genuine newbies to just be themselves and post without earning merit in mind and merit will trickle in from time to time. Again, they can utilize the available threads created to help users who are active and constructive in their posts rank up. Such threads are now ubiquitous here this day.

Being patient without trying will never give you any results. Start taking action by increasing your knowledge from useful threads pinned on several boards. There are lots of insights you can gain after reading threads that can help you achieve your goal of joining the forum.
To get through the initial stages according to what you want, you have to go through each process perfectly. There are steps that you must learn to achieve a level of success, but if your goal is only to get merit, you will feel disappointed when you cannot get it.

What is your question actually asking? Is that how much merit you get or how much money you have earned on this forum? lol  regarding the title of your topic, actually in all threads you have the potential to get it, it's just that the quality of your posts is often the benchmark, so try exploring the WO thread, maybe you can get some merit there because there are quite a lot of merit circulating in there, but remember you should never offend the senior members there.

Your most recent posts are just copy and pasted from online articles without even giving credit to the original source. Many of your other posts are generic one liners. If you want to acquire merit as a newbie you should first get familiar with how the forum works. Such low effort posts will not be helpful in ranking up and you will be considered a spammer if it becomes excessive.

You joined the forum ten days ago. Tell those people who ask you "how much have you earned" to fuck off!

No kidding. They are being rude and disrespectful. You dont owe them any explanation about your financial situation. So, next time someone questions your earnings, you could say its personal or that youd rather not discuss it and  there are polite ways to handle nosy questions.

OP, if I may ask what have you contributed so far to this forum for now, merit is a reward to your quality post that solves many users problem or teaches the readers new ideas, as a newbie, I think what you should be doing now is to know more things about this place, don't be faster than your shadow, one step at a time, with what you said it seems you are here for just merit and money which is not the major purpose for the creation of this forum, you have to engage yourself in meaningful conversations here in other to be part of this great forum.
OP, you just started your journey with a wrong approach which is not good for your growth, the forum is open for you to learn, there are many boards here, you must not write when you know nothing, do more of reading than writing as a newbie, so that when you start writing you will give the best to this community, op if you must succeed in this community you have to retrace your step and chase the knowledge which is the major reason why this place exist.

Yes the beginners stage is not easy but that does not mean that you need to be desperate about getting to the higher ranks without any effort. There is no shortcut her Incase you are looking for a way to get to an higher rank without any input in the forum.
The forum is big enough for everyone to grow but one of the mistakes we might be making is doing the wrong thing. You need to write good posts for you to get merits and if you don't do that, you might end up with the wrong perspectives.

Everyone here has their own expertise and strengths, that's the point, whatever you know about forums and crypto will show, that you have something that other people don't have, so there's no point in remaining silent without showing the advantages that you have here.

Remember that merit comes by itself, as long as you give your best to the community here, show something that you have, you will see something amazing that you have never seen, don't hide something that you have, show it.

The OP is in a hurry and unfortunately did not read all the forum rules, and now he has several cases of plagiarism in his history, and as a result, the account should be banned.
But now the holidays are starting, and perhaps the first days of the OP’s mistakes will be pardoned.
OP, if you are lucky, you must accept that rushing and writing only out of a desire to earn something without understanding the topic is exposing your account to thorough verification. You need to learn to respect the laws of the forum and get used to the fact that if you manage to deceive the forum once, then your deception will come out later, like everything bad and bad-smelling comes out.
Conclude.

Dear mate, "Forum is an ocean of knowledge," which you will not only see as a source of earning money but also find solutions to many problems in our worldly lives through various board discussions.

And you know, experience is a great teacher that builds us up over time.

So give yourself enough time in the community without running after merit.
Because this place seems like a well of knowledge to me.Just as we have to go to the well to drink fresh water knowing the depth of the well, similarly, we have to patiently learn from the forum to get good things in life. And I believe that given enough time, the forum will never turn anyone away empty-handed.

So run after knowledge and not merit, and one day you will see that this knowledge will bring you merit.

Will compile some threads that can possibly help you to earn merits

Hugeblack thread post on local boards which didn't receive a merit https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/merit-help-posts-in-local-boards-that-did-not-receive-enough-merits-5465195
Fillippone thread share your best post to earn merit https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/merit-share-your-best-poststhreads-with-fillippone-to-be-merit-assessed-5412657
Bitcoingirl.club Thread post your PGP key then earn merit https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/receive-merit-post-your-pgp-key-add-an-encrypted-message-open-for-anyone-5461523

All credits for this reputable users to have this threads since this can really help newbie to get their first merit or at least have some.

Go on that threads if you are really hunting for merits and just present the best post you have so that they can clearly verify that you deserve to get a merit.

Also extend a lot of effort to search for new ideas or helpful things that you can share here since maybe for that post there are people would give some merits because they find your thread or post very helpful to the community.

Lastly share your merits to anyone and don't let it decay since by sending merits can caught up some attention to people that you are generous and then they might give back what you give to them.

Dont be pressured. Merits arent gonna come if you push to get that and make unnecessary post that could lead to a spam or low quality post. Well the volume of topics to be created are actually full due to a lots of topics has been discussed already. Anyways more people cna focus on response instead creating new topics. Show them your idea and contribute a good answer. Apparently merits will be on your way the least you expect it.

Here is the problem I have with your thread Jenwi.
It begins with a question about how to earn merits. However, the opening post discusses how you told some friends about Bitcointalk, who then asked you how much you earned. Now, I seriously doubt they would be interested in knowing how many merits you earned. Why would that particular stat interest them? It has no value whatsoever outside of this forum, and those who aren't part of Bitcointalk wouldn't care about what happens with it. They probably asked you how much money, aka, bitcoin you earned, didn't they?

To answer the question you asked in your title, there isn't one specific type of posts/threads that earn people merits. There is a whole list of things you can do. No matter how you look at it, you will have to be willing to invest time and/or knowledge to get it right. Unless people can see from your posts that you know what you are talking about and that you spent time articulating your thoughts properly, they will rarely merit you.

My tip, begin reading and learning about bitcoin, which should be the reason you are here. After that, start browsing the forum and participate in the discussions with other people in a natural and honest way.

When you have made yourself familiar with the forum and its different boards, you will notice that there are people who create threads with various stats. They get merits. Some other folks hunt for scammers, and they also receive merits. Other people create detailed tutorials or report on the most important news and developments relating to Bitcoin. They get merited by people who find those posts pleasant to read. You can even get merits for being funny.

You have to find your own way. That's how you will succeed in what you want. We can't tell you what do to except open your eyes, look around, and find what you like.
