There seems to be something missing with the kinds of gamblers in the list.
I see people who likes to gamble at certain events like Superbowl, Finals, and playoffs. Will they be in the Casual type of gamblers too? Because as I read the description about it, it is different than what I am expecting. They are not distressing but being playful in a big event.
And, as I keep on reading I can't see what bracket they should be at. Occasional gamblers?

I think reading through the description, they fall under casual too because with the description of a casual drinker that hangs out sometimes at a bar while coming back from a work is such like someone who does that act casually and not by compulsion or influenced to do so neither is he playing for only the winning, he is excited for the moment. I think someone who bet on political events and things that come up not often is a causal gambler.

Casual but not really social because this is 2022 and we are living in the online especially since 2020, just used to gamble randomly there is no goals and enjoy the thrill or technically the adrenaline pump when we bet and also have to admit feel bit sad and not really lot when you lose.
this is 2022 really well the problem is that we have to know exactly what we achieve in gambling in respecting that the online has taken over every sister of gambling so what's this question he saying that what type of gamblers are you are you a successful one or you are the one wasting your money in the name of gambling so in what have you been benefited from gambling

Of course, professional gamblers have the intelligence on how to consider every opportunity well, manage the capital to be used and have self-control. There are many strategies that can be used if you become a professional gambler.
Those who lose more, of course there are several factors that are wrong, one of which is not having good self-control and other factors.

I thought professional gamblers are paid gamblers to do gambling activities, but after reading some articles I just found out that someone could actually make a living out of gambling. You only need to win more than you lose. So, this might not only focused on just being patient, but intense research and experiences.
This isn't an easy path for living. We could rarely find a person who's actually doing this.

there are very few people who decide to become professional gamblers. They use gambling for their main income and they know very well about the world of gambling. They have experienced intense research and experience in every gambling game and they certainly analyze every game model and find loopholes to win. Losing is certain, but at least the chance to win is more.

Interesting survey we have here, what is a big of a surprise to me is that most people seem to social gamblers. I would have said that about myself before the corona pandemic. But after 2 years of lockdowns and social distancing I haven't seen the inside of a casino for a long time. Enjoying gambling with friends together while having a few drinks was the highlight of casino trips, but now I got used to online gambling more. The only sad thing is that online gambling is done alone and not with others. Sometimes I play the same poker tournaments with friends but we rarely sit at the same table. It would be cool if online casinos where more socially friendly than just a chat box. Having avatars and voice channels would be a nice first step.

Based on the result of the poll, the majority of us here are on the safe side of gambling as both the Casual Social Gamblers and Conservative Gamblers are two options that are on the safe side, I hope it will keep this way, this only shows that our community is a community of safe players as they know the harm of too much gambling.

Professional Gamblers   - 2 (4.5%)
Casual Social Gamblers   - 22 (50%)
Serious Social Gamblers   - 0 (0%)
Relief and Escape Gamblers   - 6 (13.6%)
Conservative Gamblers   - 12 (27.3%)
Personality Gamblers   - 1 (2.3%)
Compulsive gamblers   - 1 (2.3%)

On the one hand, this is good, but on the other hand, it is not a fact that all the respondents in this survey answered the truth. People always unconsciously evaluate themselves as better than they are and deny problems to the last. I have several friends who have obvious problems with alcohol, but only once I heard from one of them - "yes, I'm an alcoholic." Basically, they always say the "cult" phrase: I can quit at any time, I have no addiction. I think that some of the addicted gamblers voted in a similar way.

It is good to see that nearly all of us who voted here are just casual gamblers. Are you sure your gambling activities are not affecting your responsibilities in the family and at work?

I never knew that we had so many gambling types.  Smiley

I would consider myself  casual gambler too with no stress to earn money from gambling. Also as per my experience, if you play gambling without taking much stress to win, you will usually win.

Sometimes we gambled over our limitations and it's not really healthy. I felt stressed during those times especially when losing money that is already material to me even if it is my extra amount. Because gambling is just some kind of a recreation. It should be fun, entertaining and gives us some thrill and excitement. It somehow relaxes us from our daily routines which at times could be stressful and boring.

Gambling is a game and it should be treated as a game for fun and time pass. If gambling gives you stress and anxiety then you are not doing any good with your health. If money is too much important for you, better do not risk in the gambling game and play other games which do not involve money.

Although I bet and often fail in online or real gambling, because I am one of the gamblers: (Casual Social Gamblers), because I am not too addicted to gambling, to this day I can still control myself in gambling.

Even though I am a "Casual Social Gambler" it doesn't mean that I didn't develop my talent in betting, maybe I failed at slots, roulette, poker, but I can still have a chance to win in sports betting, jackpot and others.

From my experience and my explanation, my type in gambling is the second choice.

Like the op posted, there are several kinds of gamblers according to research and prior to this post, I've been wondering what type i fall in, then I had to go through it and discovered I'm a casual gambler. I see it as a means to pass the time. Sometimes I record wins, most of the times I fail woefully and feel so bad that the loss alone should stop me. Hehehe
there is some people who is destined to gamble and win gambling so winning of gambling is determined true your hard-working and your observation towards other gamblers so if you continue to fail and Gamble know that it is not your call or it's not a gift for you you better withdraw yourself because some people Force their self to play game because all the people is playing gamble and meriting it. What I am seeing there is that gambling is just like a game of words of time again of pleasure

If the main priority in your life is your family then it should not and cannot affect your family life, in this life to be a healthy living we should know our priority and our family is our priority, in fact, our gambling should be the least of our priority, we can be of our gambling account for several days and it will not bother us.

We all do even if we don't want to, we are just human bound to make mistakes and lose control, but it's not healthy anymore if we are stressed every time we've lost, that can only mean we are not in the right mindset when we are playing, we are playing to make money not enjoy the game.

It is important to know what type of gambler is a person.  It greatly helps in the medication of a gambler with a gambling disorder.
Not aware of knowing this is important. Oh well maybe I am not that addicted to gambling that is why I can say this but in what sense it can help us out in case we have gone the wrong way and we got addicted in the game already? By the way I voted for casual social gamblers since I am mostly go to the gambling site to chit chat and not really to play gambling.

I develop a friendship there for my long years of stay on the site. They can help me and I can also help them. It is important for a gambling site to have a social media like function such as chat and a forum as this can drives some traffic and make the site look active even if some won't play heavily.

Relief and Escape Gamblers
Quote
The National Institute on Drug Abuse reports that addictions commonly form when people engage in behaviors, like using drugs or gambling, to fulfill an emotional need. Relief and escape gamblers may only seek out gambling as a way to manage their depression, anxiety or other causes of stress.

Escape gamblers may be pretty unsuccessful at winning, though. Due to their emotional state, their decision making and judgment can be poor.
~

Winning money is not the aim of relief and escape gamblers, as far as I understand. There are many ways to manage your depression, anxiety or other causes of stress, and gambling is one of the safest ones. Think, using drugs, alcohol, or, doing some of the extreme sports such as bungee jumping.

Relief and escape gamblers could lose huge amounts of money in a short amount of time and feel higher stress, anxiety and depression in the long-term. ~

That's right. Like with any other medicine(and in this case gambling is a medicine), overuse it - and you are in troubles. Don't do that. Allocate an amount of money which you can afford to lose, maybe not easily, maybe summat you'd spend on going to see a movie, but not more than that, and you'll be OK.

I think I am both Casual Social Gamblers and Conservative Gamblers

I am not really seeking the thrill of the game but rather take experience into how it works if I see a new gambling machine or a new style of casino game that is where I will be taking my budgeted money in playing, I just try to control my time into playing the game and if I lose I will just call it a day and not force myself to win back that lost money,

And I am casually playing gambling when with my friends but I don't let them control what I will do because I initially have control over my decision, I rather not become very attached to just 1 game but if there is a good game that I really like I tend to focus on that game but with a limited budget, I am occasionally playing on casino's with friends or sometimes alone with my computer taking a couple hit on the slot online, but still not become very attached to it because I would rather want to make a bet on sports bookies than wasting it on casino type of games,

maybe I fall into this category ~Serious Social Gamblers~

because I focus more on my work and family first before I gamble and this I have implemented after I got married. The main thing maybe we should think carefully before entering into gambling where family must come first above all else.

So after the first point is done I clear I will head to the gambling house until late at night without any pressure or thoughts about family or work.

You must have a very supportive partner/wife if you can go and stay until late at night in the casino house. My wife even if I get back from work one hour or two hours later because I have to stay late to finish some work, the cell phone rings constantly as she is worried about me(a loving one, caring one),I don't imagine myself going to the casino until late at night while I leave my wife and daughter at home alone, that would be a bad move for my marriage and I advice this to you too, don't keep going to the casino late at night as you may become addicted and risk your marriage, career and everything.

As that is what we mostly are, we often say that we gamble for fun but badly feeling when Losses , that is the reality and lets accept that fact.

feel bad when you lose, ummm maybe so. But here I only use a small amount of money to gamble and when I lose money it doesn't make me feel so bad.
Those who feel really bad are those who spend a lot of money gambling and keep losing, because there is no management or strategy in place.
Financial management in gambling may be close, but gambling rarely focuses on exploring strategy, because luck-based gambling will not require any strategy. Moreover, what needs to be emphasized is self-control which does not necessarily follow the flow of gambling. A person who mostly follows curiosity and can't control his emotions actually tends to lose more.

Gambling is based on luck, but if there is no management, gambling is just a place to waste money. Look at the OP's thread about Professional gamblers.

Professional Gamblers
Professional gamblers are a rarity. People who gamble professionally make a living by gambling. Somehow, they confront systems that are built around taking their money and come out ahead.
Being a professional gambler takes an extraordinary level of:

Patience
Frustration tolerance
Intelligence
Self-control

Successful professional gamblers continually weigh the odds of each situation to decide how to proceed. Impulsivity and anger stand in the way of their performance, so professionals dismiss these traits.

It is important to note that professional gamblers will not usually be addicted to the act of gambling. Addictions can diminish self-control and rational thinking, which would undoubtedly cause more losses than wins.
Quote
They are skilled in the games they choose to play and are able to control both the amount of money and time spent gambling. Thus, professional gamblers are not addicted to gambling. They patiently wait for the best bet and then try to win as much as they can.

Of course, professional gamblers have the intelligence on how to consider every opportunity well, manage the capital to be used and have self-control. There are many strategies that can be used if you become a professional gambler.
Those who lose more, of course there are several factors that are wrong, one of which is not having good self-control and other factors.

The average voter says they fall into the Casual Social Gamblers type , and that's my vote too. I feel like gambling is just for free time, to relax my mind so I can forget some problems. Gambling which is only used as relaxation without thinking about profit certainly does not use big money, because the purpose is only for entertainment, nothing more than that. If you're lucky maybe it's just a bonus.
If any of them can use their spare time to gamble, relax their minds and don't use gambling as a medium to make money, they will not pursue winning and will think that winning is just a bonus. Maybe in one period, we can belong to Casual Social Gamblers, but at another time we can belong to another type. If we are only playing gambling because of searching of fun, we need to stay at that type and not trying to be another type because that will make us in trouble.
