I have voted for casual social gambler, which I see is the majority option.

Online I only gamble very occasionally and when I go to a casino I go with friends. I don't usually bet high amounts, and to this day I have not had any problems of self-control, betting more than I should. I make some bets like someone who drinks a few beers.

I'm surprised there aren't more responses from problem personalities, with the threads we see around this board. Maybe they are ashamed to admit it.

Casual Social Gamblers
Quote
Casual social gamblers gamble for recreation, sociability and entertainment. For them, gambling may be a distraction or a form of relaxation. Gambling does not interfere with family, social or vocational obligations. Examples of such betting are the occasional poker game, Super Bowl bets, a yearly trip to Las Vegas and casual involvement in the lottery.

Conservative Gamblers
Quote
Conservative gamblers likely place a modest budget or time limit on their gambling and stick to it whether they win or lose. This practice makes problematic or addictive gambling very rare among conservative gamblers.
I think I will consider myself as a combination of a Casual Gambler and Conservative Gambler.

I purely gamble because of entertainment though I'm not the type of gambler who will go to casinos to gamble. I started gambling online and until now, I'm only gambling online and I find it more convenient for me.

At the same time, as I'm gambling mainly because of entertainment, I'm only sticking to the budget that I put in gambling and I don't add another if I lose that money again. That mindset for me prevents me from losing more money in gambling. TBH, having that mindset is very difficult to get because we've seen many gamblers losing money consecutive times because they want to recover their losses.

Not sure which type of gambler I am. I don't gamble regularly, just gamble once I have free/spare time. I also don't set how many times to gamble in a week. Anyway, when I gamble, I prefer choosing the game that I am familiar with and looks entertaining to me. Considering my habit, I think I'm more like a casual social gambler. I don't really target to win every time I gamble, I more focus on the entertainment. It is almost the same as the casual social gambler that doesn't really desire to win in gambling.  Grin

Casual but not really social because this is 2022 and we are living in the online especially since 2020, just used to gamble randomly there is no goals and enjoy the thrill or technically the adrenaline pump when we bet and also have to admit feel bit sad and not really lot when you lose.
anyone who make up his mind to place a bet we also consider is safe for a device whenever the bed goes wrong about the person because gambling is something that everybody who is interested for it and the who is addicted for it do consider two things Which is positive and negative so therefore gambling is something that you give yourself a device and it's not something someone will give you advice that is why when you are addicted to it nothing can make you to come back so when the negative occur that means you have lose and then when the positive occur you have made it. So every gambler encourage yourself for both the negative and the positive

I identified with some types...
I was once a compulsive gambler at a time when I was losing a lot of cryptocurrencies with gambling.
But today I identify a lot as a casual social player, I think Cheesy

I believe, however, that the same player can fit into more than one of these categories or go quickly through two or more of them alternately, according to their emotional state.

Indeed there are different levels of gambling for different people, and it is mostly based on how much income they have access to, and generally a casual gambler is someone who can take it or leave it.
and they may play occasionally or even quite regularly, but they never spend more than they would like, they generally see it as a fun pastime as well as enjoying free time during busy times at work.
And what I mentioned above is like my attitude towards gambling, so a casual social gambler is more suitable for me, and I also sometimes gamble with close friends on weekends with small bets and just for fun.
It also applies in myself too. Although I started like a conservative gambler in my first attempts of gambling, but now that I have been into a lot of losses and few wins, I guess being a casual social gambler would be the best to fit for me. I love to gamble as long as I’m with my friends and when boredom strikes me. And mostly, I only do that in my extra funds. So no regrets if I win or lose, as I’m only gambling an amount I can manage to lose.

I am quite conservative in spending money, especially on gambling games.  Among the explanation on OP, I think I am a conservative gambler.  I never play gambling for entertainment, I am more inclined to play pc games than bet in a casino.  The only occasion I play in gambling is whenever some gambling games catch my interest.  And when I play I often have limited funds.  I maybe sometimes lean on the casual social gambler type but most of the time I am on the conservative gambler group.

Based from the list, I can say, I am a conservative gambler as well. So yes, I only allot certain amount for gambling. And if my losses are already within my limits, I stop. Also, I bet from time to time for example, I know the boxers and I feel I have the advantage to bet on this particular boxer. But if not, I just stay with how much money I can afford to lose. Because I know, if I will push myself, I will end up losing all my funds.

I think many here are casual social gamblers and will say that they're on it for the entertainment. It's not new and I've always read enough of it that they're just gambling for fun and entertainment.
While for the conservative gamblers, I think that goes mostly to the newbies that want to try as much as they can or also to the experienced ones to experience new games and as well as with the combination of being casual and social.

The average voter says they fall into the Casual Social Gamblers type , and that's my vote too. I feel like gambling is just for free time, to relax my mind so I can forget some problems. Gambling which is only used as relaxation without thinking about profit certainly does not use big money, because the purpose is only for entertainment, nothing more than that. If you're lucky maybe it's just a bonus.
As that is what we mostly are, we often say that we gamble for fun but badly feeling when Losses , that is the reality and lets accept that fact.

What we feel or think may not be what others feel or think.  We shouldn't judge other feelings and consider them as facts especially when our sole basis of comparison is our own. For example, other people have enough money that losing thousands of dollars in gambling doesn't affect them.  Besides people have different levels of acceptance/tolerance so what hurts us may not hurt others, and possibly what is important to us maybe not that important to others.

So few professional players (one of the two votes is mine)  Grin However, I do not agree with the definition where it is said that a professional gambler lives off this activity. This is an initially false statement.

If gambling is not your profession, ie you don't live off of gambling income exclusively, then you cannot call yourself a professional gambler.
You may disagree with the definition, but I believe you are closer to the "Serious Social Gamblers" category than to the "Professional Gamblers".

I also wonder, do gamblers can only be called professional gambler if gambling is their profession?

maybe I fall into this category ~Serious Social Gamblers~

because I focus more on my work and family first before I gamble and this I have implemented after I got married. The main thing maybe we should think carefully before entering into gambling where family must come first above all else.

So after the first point is done I clear I will head to the gambling house until late at night without any pressure or thoughts about family or work.

This is an initially false statement. For example, a physicist who has been studying gravity all his life and of course is a professional cannot control it, but this does not negate his professionalism and knowledge. Professional gambler cannot win simply because the casino has an advantage, but this does not negate his knowledge and skills. If you use the definition from the first post, then it turns out that bonus hunters and cheaters are professionals in gambling.

I didn't know that there are several types of gamblers here in this business industry. Just all I know is that once you gamble you are a gambler just simple as that. But there is something came up into my mind where, what if the gambler have an addiction into gambling? Does this mean you are a professional gambler or something that you cannot become a professional gambler if you are not addicted in doing gamble?

Gambling is a big business and a big passion. If you are addicted to gambling, it will affect your professional career. Professional players are more likely to develop an addiction because of the need for constant gratification. So, if you want to play with integrity, stay away from gambling.being a professional gambler is not necessary to be addicted. Addiction is a deadly tool that makes you lose all your wealth

There are tendencies that a gambler could belong to two category of the listed gambling types lets say a professional gambler who is also a casual social gambler depending on the necessity of events. For instance a Professional gambler who takes gambling as a source of living but still have recreational events, distractions, sociability and entertainment. Or a Casual social gambler who has threats of personality gambler although those cases are rare but in a gambling hub you could get single people with multiple threats

As that is what we mostly are, we often say that we gamble for fun but badly feeling when Losses , that is the reality and lets accept that fact.

feel bad when you lose, ummm maybe so. But here I only use a small amount of money to gamble and when I lose money it doesn't make me feel so bad.
Those who feel really bad are those who spend a lot of money gambling and keep losing, because there is no management or strategy in place.
Financial management in gambling may be close, but gambling rarely focuses on exploring strategy, because luck-based gambling will not require any strategy. Moreover, what needs to be emphasized is self-control which does not necessarily follow the flow of gambling. A person who mostly follows curiosity and can't control his emotions actually tends to lose more.

Yes sir, but the question that I'll like to ask to you is: how can I be a professional gambler without be addicted? It is really complicated that this happen, it

requires a lot of concentration and attention, sometimes also happen that professional fell into the tunnel of dependence, and we've heard many case about that.

I believe the key term is being in control.  As stated in the traits of professional gamblers, they tend to have control over their gambling activities.  They keep themselves aware of time and environment .  they have the knowledge of bankroll management and more importantly they know what game they are playing.  They often use the data needed to have an advantage over their competitors or casino and they know the odds of the game they are playing.  In short, they have knowledge, experience, awareness, patience and control when they are gambling.

How can control a risk of becomin addicted?

I've started to smoke cigarette when I was 14 years old, and when someone asked to me to avoid it, my reply was: Don't worry, I can control my dependence !

Now, 12 years has been passed and I still smoke.

It isn't the same comparison, but it needs to help understand that ok, you're professional, but when you start to lose, risk to become addicted will be always at your

side.
