and i lost a whole lot of money trading it[/b]

This is the issue with most newbies. Before risking any amount, it is so much advised that you make a thorough research. There are online courses for those who want to trade, you can either start one (and of course finish it) or you make researches and ask experts question. This doesn't mean that there won't be bad times; there could be bad times but it won't be like when you know nothing and just throw in your money.

I lost money, but the money I lost is a minuscule compared to what I was able to make later. I started buying bitcoin in 2014 and I wasn't serious with it back then, so I didn't invest much. The funny thing is that I still lost this little money I invested in cryptocurrency. Then I wasn't really good at it. I taught myself everything I know about bitcoin today, nobody was there to guide me through it.

I was just using an Electrum wallet and I didn't know how to withdraw the cryptocurrency which was worth $250 to my bank, so I sent it to a scammer who claimed to be an exchanger and I lost it. I decided to quit because I was angry, but came back in 2016 and started buying again, then I have understood everything that I need to know. And 2017 was a good year.

Fear of going into the experience, for the next time to start will be easier and faster.
I invested some currencies in the year 2018 and I didn't sell them, I plan to buy more this year and I want to invest some money in some markets. I am waiting for a return from them to start again.
Investing is a game of profit and loss, and I do not fear loss.
If you are investing your hard earned money then you should fear about the loss you could encounter if you are taking a risk, not sure what coins you invested to have a bold statement but trading is all about top coins rather than the shit coins we have in the market and you need to be careful what coins you are trading and bitcoin is the only coin that can guarantee a profit in the long run and that cannot be said about majority of the alts.
~~~~~
As for the bold part - there is NO coin (including Bitcoin) that can guarantee you profit! I can agree that there is much less chance that Bitcoin price will dump like some shitcoin price, but no one can guarantee anything in crypto.
Well said but you have forgotten that, bitcoin investment is far better than those shitholes called altcoins which has no good foundations compare to bitcoin. Though, some altcoins are scalable and good for investment but personally I won't do to any. Bitcoin still remains the bold coin we'll should make our investment into, this investment should be on a long-term purpose to actualize huge profits. So, the only cryptocurrency that guarantee profit is bitcoin and this must be on a long-term basis.
You are hilarious... On my post where I'm saying that no coin, including Bitcoin, can't guarantee profit first you say this:
Well said...
and then in the end of your post you say:
the only cryptocurrency that guarantee profit is bitcoin
I repeat - there is no investment that can guarantee you profit. We can talk about high, medium and low risk investments but there is no investment (in crypto or in anything else) that can guarantee you profit. Even in the long run. At some point (maybe in a year, maybe in 100 years) Bitcoin price will reach it's maximum and a person who buys that maximum will never have profit of that investment. So how can you say that it can guarantee you profit?
I've learned so far that trading actions is usually waist of time and money, at least that is my experience, so.I stick to Bitcoin.
Also, there is always a risk and no matter how splendid situation might look there is always possibility for surprise. Losses are inevitable so always think twice how much you can risk to lose and for successful trading you always need a bit of luck too.
I started trading indices and forex in 2010, with a health related break between 2012 and 2014. Even though I knew cryptos since years prior, I just started trading them in 2016. The procedere remaind the same, just as much as the basic principles like never investing money you can´t afford to lose, never go too high in leverage, never enter a market you have no idea about, never enter a trade without a plan or never enter a trade without a stop loss. I kept writting a journal when trading cryptos just as with trading the S&P500 or the German DAX  but completely quit trading in 2018 because of a change of focus to building that DEX startup.
As for experience in crypto trading, my main strategy and trading system worked in cryptos too. What I successfully used was a variation of an Inverse Turtle Trader. Here an explanation if the original: https://www.investopedia.com/articles/trading/08/turtle-trading.asp
Right now, I´m just a Hodler, makes life less stressful as well ;-)
That is why it is important to remove our emotional attachment to our money especially if it is our hard earned money. Make sure that amount that we will put in trading is the money that we are willing to lose which means that we will not get depressed if we will experience losses. Fear is normal at the beginning because we are still do not have enough confidence to ourselves, but if we want to be a confident trader then we should have courage and determination to study and have knowledge about trading.
It is normal to have ups and down in trading because there is no perfect system. Losses are inevitable but we can lessen it if we have a proper risk and management. Being a trader is fun because I always surpassing my limits where I constantly learning and growing.
I think that everyone is investing their hard earned money because money doesn't grow on threes. It has to be earned. I guess you meant that no one should invest money that they can't afford to lose.
Been trading for quite a while now and it took me time to get to where i am today coming from a noob in trading. Trading cryptocurrencies was one hell of an experience for me Grin.
The first cryptocurrency i traded back in late 2018 was bitcoin and i lost a whole lot of money trading it. I guess i didn't learn enough about the crypto market and the volatility involved before delving into it  Undecided.
Ever since then, i picked another instrument of choice. I went into the FOREX trading. I plan on coming back into trading cryptocurencies but for now i'm still learning about the crypto market.  Cheesy
It was a painful experience though  Grin
What was your experience ?
Trading cryptocurrency is a bit fun and exciting; however, its risky knowing that you are playing real money.
Basically the idea of trading is that you should not lose yourself with the intense mechanism of the market especially trading with
very volatile and liquid market like BTC and ETH. In fact, I created a lot of techniques from creating my trading set-ups out of technical and
fundamental factors, making my own strategies to lure out fake walls, FOMO "ing", fake price reversals then suddenly pumping the price along
with our peers and groups(mostly for low volume market).
Well, everything should be played within the market to maximized profit, right! However, I settled with consistent losses and the saddest part,
I end up cutting my losses. Although, it kinda exciting but time will come up that you need to think a little bit further, cause you are not only fighting with the price
but rather controlling one`s fund and fighting with your own emotion. The concept of trading for me is self-discipline. And even if it is fun, it kinda kills my time and ends up having profit and losing at the same time.
So, I think maybe my trading skill sets need to step-up, that is when I decided to teach other people and sell my strategies on how to trade better. And this one is very odd, although it didn`t
really work for me but it worked to those whom I taught. Really, most of them get huge profits out of my strat, some may even withdrew thousands and me "Huh" Grin Grin.
That`s the time I decided to sell information and trading only when the market showed potentials.  I am day trader before, and now I am swing trader/position trader.
Also, am hodlers of crypto coins and fascinated to be a pioneer trader/investor on any potential, disrupting the future, and developing projects/coins/tokens in circulation. Hope this will inspire newbies (traders) out there...
Crypto-assets are risky activities, so if we lose, this is the risk we should be aware of.
I also had the experience, but I was lucky when I started trading in 2017, benefiting from BTC and ETH. I learned to trade for the first time, guided by my brother, who had previously been a trader. Especially at that time, the price of the crypto-assets increased significantly. It is my precious experience, though when trades sometimes will also disappear.
Trading has been a bitter sweet lesson for me. In that time, I've had my own fair share of wins, losses, regrets and lessons. Trading the crypto markets has taught me how to keep up in a fast paced environment. I may not be an experienced trader yet, but I know I can surely improve. Trading in a live account beyond  both paper trading and demo trading. You're faced with difficult situations without a clear head way in sight. The lessons have taught me a whole lot (majority of which can be applied to real world situations) – like the fact that I shouldn't be too quick to make certain decisions.
I've been in situations where I panicked and sold too soon or in situations where I got a greedy hoping the price of a coin will continue pumping for everywhere. Now, whenever I see an opportunity – on the chart or reality, I grab it with both hands.
Trading is not only about knowledge but also about experience, when I started trading I always rush into decision and lose, I also panic to sell soon and what happened after was the coin I sold risen in price. We all face all these and thought us lessons not to panic or greedy but to be patient. Experience really matters a lot in trading.
What was your experience ?
To begin with you should probably move this thread to the trading section of the forum since that section seems to be the right section for this topic.
My experience trading bitcoin has been in fact positive but that is because I have dedicated an enormous amount of time to try to learn how to trade, anyone that dedicated just a few days or weeks is bound to eventually fail, trading is a very deep subject and there is no one that can master it so quickly, not only that even if there are many ways to trade that could be profitable there are only a few that could be right for you, also it takes a lot of time to backtest your strategy so you make sure that it actually works, when you combine all of these factors it is really no wonder why so few people are successful, so my recommendation is that before you pick a new instrument to trade that you try to find the reasons of why failed and then you correct them.
I also tried trading bitcoin, last time I tried risking at poloniex. It is an online bitcoin trading website. In trading you cannot be sure of the future of your bitcoin. In trading you may win and you may lose. Many people say that it is out of lack. But then in bitcoin trading you may gain more if you also trade more. You may lose more if you trade more. You may win less if you trade less and you may lose less if you trade less. That is the idea of trading. You have to risk your money to gain. It is a bit hard in maintaing and watching the charts and trades. If you have the passion and enough knowledge in trading, you will surely enjoy trading. But if you do not have a passion I doubt you will earn more in here.
Inexperience in trade cryptocurrency will only lead to bigger lose, these coins are most volatiles in their natures. Newbies who want to join the trade in cryptocurrencies should know that, they are to be more careful about their funds, don't start trade with the amount they can't afford to loose in the process.
My first trade ever was done on binance exchange, this made me to realized the true power of Bitcoin, during the trade I made some decent profits which I hold till bitcoin had a good pump back then.
The first time you heard this business you'll be entice, especially if the information comes from your friends or close relatives thinking that it's an easy access to earned more money without doing any hard works.
But the time you lose your money due to your irresponsible decisions, you'll be starting to cry out very common to newbies, it was a great experienced when buying low and selling high still working inside crypto exchange.
This reminds me of the the very first day way back about 3 years ago when i started investing into this industry. The very first coin I bought was Binance Coin and I was a bit skeptical intially that I might not received the coins as many people complained of being scammed in this industry. But all the same it was fun and the knowledge has been so worth it.
It was a painful experience though  Grin
What was your experience ?
Just as painful.  And that's because of the volatility in the market and FOMO. Like I'd buy coins to HODL but then somehow the market would start declining and I'd find myself pondering over HODLing or not.
Since then I have come to learn more but it would be untrue if I was to say that I mastered FOMO, it still creeps in sometimes but at least I'm not as reactive as I used to be - turns out that sometimes it relives me not only from a lot of mental strain but financial strains too! After so many years I'm Still learning because trading is all about continuous learning
