Well its really hard to tell which currency will be our new world currency, there are chances that it could be bitcoin but they seem slim since bitcoin going mainstream will create problems for governments and they don't like problems.

I really don't see how bitcoin would be able to be the next dominant world currency.
At the moment it is the dollar followed by the euro with a big distance.
Bitcoin with its 12 billion market capitalization is way too small to play in that league, even if its worth would climbe 100 times of what it has now.
In my opinion the dominant world currency has to be a fiat, backed up by a major national economy.
It is true that presently USD is the dominant currency of the world, but the grown trend of online business and shopping the trend of bitcoin, fiat currency is now decreasing people giving preference to digital currencies, so we can hope that a time is coming when majority of people will be using crypto currency instead of fiat.
USD is now losing its value which is already cleared from online businesses which all are now going to use bitcoin. The majority of people will definitely use crypto currency for their businesses instead of fiat in the coming future. They now have their banks in their own hands and they can easily handle all of their financial affairs without any bank of government.

Now USD is not able to produce any new source that is why they are dying and what you said is right that in the coming days where internet and online shopping is the main source of products sales in that bitcoin is going to  play the major role and in within some years we can see bitcoin occupying the world currency also

True soon USD will no longer exist , but that soon may not happen for 10 to 30 years it will be replaced by other currency like Yuan.  But for bitcoin it may not be popular now to everyone but its adaptability by the users were growing faster that it can be used after 5-10 years in every online purchasing and paying sites and hopefully also as a fiat in every country.

I think Bitcoin has everything to be our new world currency. Many people forget that the dollar, by not following the gold standard anymore, does not have the same benefits as decades ago. At the moment the currency is quite overpriced, and people are beginning to realize that they do not have the same purchase power as they had years ago when using dollar. These are just a few of the factors that make Bitcoin a better currency.

The new world currency will likely be something that either is governed by international banking cartels (expect something like carbon credits or energy credits to be a major player if we go down this path), or we might get off lucky and only have to deal with fiat currencies being world reserve currencies or whatever.

USD or Yuan are the most likely candidates for world reserve currencies in the future.

I think that if the bitcoin keeps on rising like this and people start using it more , governments will make a currency to compete against bitcoin, because of the nature of bitcoin and how dicentrelized it is and how china is owning a large share of it and how are unable to control it , they will never let it dominate the world , just think about and think about why they haven't made it an official currency yet.

It's probably dollars still for a few years. Some countries doesn't even recognize Bitcoin and some even ban it. So it can't be applied all over the world. I hope it does because it's possibilities are endless. It could still be improved.

The end of the dollar will come suddenly. It has dominated international trade for almost a century now.
With Donald Trump at the helm, the end might come more quickly than you think.  Wink

Confirms at least 40% of people on this forum are of their rockers. The new world currency will be in the form of a digital microchip. Not Bitcoin lol

Suppose that only after next generation people will adopt to use in everyday life bitcoins. Till then, fiat money will dominate as a world currency. Most of the above posts I read talk about US dollar. I would like to ask; Do you believe that Chinese will live in a world dominated by the USD for much longer? What happens if they want RMB to be the dominant currency all over the world? What USA will do?

The United States of America Currency will still be here and act as a world currency. There are no signs yet that it will be replaced by a new currency.

Some say it will be bitcoin but maybe after 20 years it will be possible. As for now there are no country currency that will replace the US dollars.

the US dollar has long occupied a leading position. In the near future it will not be able to replace any one currency. Bitcoin too strong, but it is an alternative currency
Have you seen the chinese RMB which are now trending about they're have strengthen their position and more likely to take over the world most used currency? it's indeed right that dollar had led for a long time but still have the possibilities to be replaced by another currency. nothing last forever

Of course it would be bitcoin, that will be going to be the next currency in the whole world. It is just two months from now when someone introduced bitcoin to me and that is my friend and in that two months I have seen and proved that bitcoin is really awesome. It is fast and every users is anonymous when they are using bitcoin in every transaction that they are going to have. Bitcoin being the new world currency in the future is not impossible.

I'm sure that soon the Chinese national currency will strengthen its position and become very popular. Not sure it will be the world currency, but the significance in the society will be greater
Indeed it's been replacing Yen in the third position of the largest world's currency, I think the position of the Yuan will only be the third, because the Dollar and Euro are hard to slide again. This is because in the last 5 years the Chinese economy showed negative trends.
