i think there are so many other thing who are in virtual form and we have to accept, even the whole business are now converting to virtual. we have a good example of stock market. where you do trade shares of different companies in virtual form. and the concept of people toward currency is already converting to digital form and we have to accept the reality.

The US dollar recently broke the 20 trillion debt mark and growing. This is obviously not sustainable. We are headed towards a massive correction, no matter what Donald Trump or anybody else does. This means bitcoin holders are up for massive gains.

As much as I would love Bitcoin to be the new world currency, being a Bitcoin user and all, I really doubt that it will happen. The first step for it to become the new world currency, is to become mainstream. And for that to happen, the block size needs to become larger and the price needs to stabilize. Realistically, I believe that the US dollar will become the new world currency. Pretty much everything in the world is valued in the USD. But maybe this will change in the future.
US Dollar will still be the major global currency for another +30 years later I think, but there is still chance for CNY may has chance to replace dollar as the country growing more faster than US in economics section. I don't think bitcoin will be the new world currency as the market cap isn't enough to compare with fiat money, moreover if some countries ban bitcoin to use inside the country, will decrease the users and the market price.

For us, who uses bitcoins, we would like bitcoin be the new world currency, but we must first know what will happen if bitcoin be the new world currency. We shall not be one of those guys who does not think what will happen, or being selfish just to earn a lot of money.

I do agreed with you, majority of the member in this forum they replied the same thing. Maybe they wanted bitcoin to become a new world currency. For me isn't obvious that there is big chances to be happen. But while waiting let us witness little by little the world will adopt the concept unique system of bitcoin.
No one knows what will be our new world currency. However, if ever times come that bitcoin will become a new world currency, all bitcoin enthusiast will instantly become rich. That's is good news to all of us here in this industry.

Indeed, maybe it is because they really wanted that bitcoin will become a legal currency interntionaly. Although, there is a big possibility to be happen but it will take more more years before it happen. lets us go with the flow for awhile until the right time comes for the bitcoin community.

US Dollar gained importance and its price increased from the day saudi arabia decided to sell its asset crude oil only for US dollars.Even till today, every country have to convert their currency into US Dollars and then only, they buy crude oil. This has created a unshakeable place for US Dollars in the global economy. US Dollar will dominate until these situations change. China, which is one of the largest oil importers (3d place), is buying oil from Russia (one of the top 2 oil exporters to China, the other being Saudi Arabia) for their national currency, the Chinese Yuan, and from Iran for the Euro. I'm not sure about the EU itself, which is the largest oil importer in the world, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn that they get most of their oil imports for the Euro as well

I think it would be important to have a few equal currencies.
They can be exchanged amongst each other, and if one should really get into trouble it will not have too big effects on world economy.
But if I had to name a currency that is going to rule the next century, it will most likely be something in asia.

Good point. And i think that would be possible if you look at the growth of bitcoin users in the recent years. Even now more and more people are actually becoming interested about it and i think it is a very good sign for users like us. Though you're right as well that we need to have thr dollar working as well mostly alongside bitcoin if the time comes that it dors become the main digital currency. People can't rely mainly on digital currency so a physical option should still be available I do hope bitcoin to be known worldwide even the people in provinces who doesn't know bitcoin well. Russia ruble - Lost 50% of the value since 2014.
Zimbabwe dollar - No longer in circulation.
Bitcoin - Very small userbase.
Litecoin - Microscopic userbase.
Gold - Not a currency
Silver - Not a currency
Euro - Losing value since 2014.

I think we should address the elephant in the room, bitcoin has great potential and as of now, there is no alternate cryptocurrency that can beat bitcoin in terms of user base, strong community and goodwill. However, there is huge number of people who are using fiat today (even many of us) because bitcoin is not yet available on local level as compared with that of fiat currencies so I think fiat currencies will dominate bitcoin until bitcoin is localised on macro level.
You're right, we all as Bitcoin users have a soft spot for the cryptocurrency but I don't think it will completely substitute fiat anytime soon and if fiat currencies are still going to reign then it's the US dollar that's going to standup high for perhaps another 30 years like the poll suggest.
I know some people who just hate plastic money and thus they will hate bitcoin too. We have to admit that bitcoin won't be the supreme currency anytime in the future because there will be the people who will always use cash and fiat currencies. I am expecting bitcoin to become a universally accepted currency rather than competing currency with dollar or euro.

In coming bitcoin will be used by money people from different of the world because bitcoin does not belong to specific country, bitcoin has already proved that it is global currency where many people keep using it, buying it, selling it. Once we get awareness to the society than most will start using it.
In fact it is already in used in major countries, what makes it not yet that popular is due to the limited number of users when compared to the potential users of bitcoin. Don't worry, just be optimistic, the future looks good and as long as we do support bitcoin, the adoption will increase due to effective spreading of awareness to them.Jump to:
