Exactly, its like, 90% chance to survive and from that on the price will slowly increase, ALOT, or if somehow devs fail badly, the price will decrease. The risk to gain is so much higher than the risk to lose, by ALOT. Its comparable to bitcoin, like investing in bitcoin at 200$ knowing it will increase to 700$+, but there being a very small chance for it to fail because of block size.

Survive at 5$ ? You must be delusional, nobody will sell below 9$ because it wont be profitable for miners. And it already lost 40% of its value because of the dao, so untill that is left behind and the fork occurs, it will float above 10$. Ofc theres always the risk of whale dump, but that can happen with any other coin including bitcoin.
So if you wanna make any profit from crypto, invest in any crypto that has potential, except for btc/ltc ( 99.9% of LTC is traded in CNY, chinese trade between themselves to create the illusion of activity/volume, while they control probably 90% of hashrate).

If it survives the crisis, the price will be $50. If it does not survive, the price will be $1 or lower. It is binary.

It will survive at less than $5.  You all got hosed even though the facts were right in front of your faces...

Voted "meh." ETH will undoubtedly survive, but it's lost its charm.

i'll buy more rig to mine more ethereum and dump for bitcoin, what else should i do this thing is still very profitable lol, i think everyone here is just for bitcoin, and dump altcoin is the most profitable way to get bitcoin

You are not alone. There are many people doing the same. The network hash rate keeps on rising even after the hack.

he sure is not alone in this! even at $12 i'm still selling eths ~four times what they cost! all my gpus are few months old only, fully roi-ed & can be sold 2/3 of the original price anyday! amd rx incoming is gonna moon the hashrate tho. even then it'll still be the most profitable way to get btc! (& keeps some alts as lulz & sentiment)

also keep in mind: ETH was sold as "bitcoin contender" and they would have loved to feed on the corpse of btc. I don't think anything of value was lost. Maybe that's why some are bitter, because ETH was a project to fuck over bitcoin. And very openly so.

But was it really? Or is that just the way BCT members interpreted it? Crypto is very tribal. EVERY new crypto is a bitcoin killer in 'ere. Just ask holders.

read the old threads again, watch the old videos. I thought it was very invasive and even hostile. I felt even blackmailed into investing. Sorry for not showing a positive reaction to that.
Generally i'm an altcoin-guy and would they have sold it without a presale but pow-distribution and were not so obnoxious and over the top with their claims i would have been all for it, believe me.

Trolling them a little should be alright. But you're right. Let's not overdo it. Some of the believers have heavy losses to take, that's right.

ETH is being kicked HARD in the balls and it's bones are being picked at. Noob accounts are being created by established community members to join in the ETH lynching fun. People are shouting at ETH straight in the face. I don't know if I've ever seen such a feeding frenzy on BCT.

There's nothing like a bit of camaraderie. And there's nothing like even a little bit of camaraderie in crypto!

Pages and pages of relish at the death of ETH which might have the same effect on crypto as the MtGox fiasco. It might set us all back months, if not years. But no-one seems to care about that right now. It's too much fun hunkering down on it.

But what will y'all do if ETH survives?? (apart from getting very very angry!)

Where were all the emotions when 150mln$ were invested in the dao? Some of us were standing on the sideline, warning, waving hands and facepalming. The writing was in big red letters on the wall: something would go wrong (untested code on such a scale is madness)

I imagine it sucks for some few who were misled and my condolences go out to them but all in all this was the worst mania for tulips i have seen so far in crypto. Why is everyone emotional when the inevitable happens? Where are the regret-posts on the way up?

And the funny part about all this is: you morons will do it next time exactly like this again.

This madness is harming all of crypto, yes. But blame your own greed, not the people who warned you about it.

Maybe you're right op, maybe it's time to tone it down and let the SILENCE begin.

Sold by slimy hypers.
It's really a pitty the greed got the best of so many people. Karma, i guess.

I will do nothing!
This case just shows how prone to failure this whole system still is and probably will be in the future due to it's massive complexity. And if you have read the chat logs you realize how centrally controlled  and governed it is.
If Ethereum should survive it's value will be a fraction of what it is now.

For a while I have been stopped trading for a while and was lucky that i didn't invested in ETH when the price started crashing, but now the price has become better but still not safe to invest lots of money there. In case ETH survives then i may invest a bit and then increase the volume time by time.

The Ethereum trading is still quite risky. It is better to wait until after the soft fork take effect, then decide.

will probably buy back eth too after halving.  it should survive. its huge enough to let it die.

It depends on the support of the community. It has strong support at the moment. The price is still high now.

What i did:

- Sold all DAO and made BTC
- Sold ETH while it was going down, bought it back very cheap. Holding it for the future. ETH will climb back up, but not sure about DAO.

Advice:

- Sell DAO
- Sell ETH
- Hold BTC until halving
- After halving, convert BTC to ETH for the future.
