Until now my country or government still banned bitcoin, but not give effects for user's. Now, bitcoin use more than 3℅ peoples in this earth. So, if any government banned bitcoin not effects with bitcoin performance.
as well as the country they prohibit the use of any virtual currency, but once again they will not be able to stop users to continue using bitcoin, because they can not stop, so it does not give any effect

Yeah I think so too, laws don't mean anything in stoping bitcoin users from using bitcoin but this would somehow make other people think that bitcoin is something really bad and need to be avoided. And if this really happened, well then not just the government who was against us but the people would contribute eliminate bitcoin without realising how potential bitcoin is.

What do you guys think it would happen if all the governments in the world declared bitcoin to be illegal?
How do you think the community would react? What could be the possible solutions?
all the governments in the world declared bitcoin to be illegal? this is bad news i heard , i hope will not happened
but i think bitcoin still usable like withdraw to local money
I have no idea how bitcoin could be “banned” because bitcoin is not a centralized thing. That is the great part of bitcoin , so who could “ban” bitcoin? Goverments can only make it unlawful at most but since it is not tied to any goverment that means there would still be people on other countries that can use it.

First of all, who will ban it?

No other than but the your government, my local government and the world government if they can see it as threat to their own service or with the financing sector.

if it will be ban I think only for selective countries and not in the whole world in an instant

Yes, it will not be implemented and applicable to all countries for there are some countries that sees bitcoins potential to boost their economy.

but before it happens I think most of the Bitcoin holders will change it to FIAT currency and withdraw.

Even if bitcoin will be banned, bitcoin holders will just find some other ways to exchange their/our bitcoins with fiat.

It's just like when will be the 3rd world war.

I don't think bitcoin will be banned when world war 3 happens but there are a lot of countries and people who are using bitcoin that will be affected.

I am not saying Bitcoin will be ban if there is 3rd world war, you commented in every lines that I said, what I was trying to say is that asking when will BTC will be banned is like asking when will be the 3rd world war.

It would just be so bad for the bitcoin right now but the fact is also that we cannot predict this and I think that its not happening in the most country so that is positive.

People would simply find another way to get and use Bitcoin. Not many because most of us want to do only legit stuff, but some will because they want freedom and anonymity. Without internet browsing control and stuff like that, I think there's no way they can ban it because there'd be no way they could find out about it!

If a government bans it then people may wont be able to use it without any VPN or something like that which can bypass the banned things, because the authorities may have access on every internet connection running in a country and they are always traceable.

Initally as written by Kembo "A ban on Bitcoin is difficult to enforce"

Bitcoin has no centre to attack. There is no single organisation or person that controls Bitcoin and transactions don't go through a central clearing house there is really no way a regulator can stop people from downloading Bitcoin wallets and sending each other bitcoins. If there we to block all the websites that people can download Bitcoin wallets from, new ones will come up and some people will compile their own wallets from source code - Bitcoin is like Bittorrent in that respect. If they shut down the internet, people will send each other Bitcoin via SMS and if they shut down the electricity supply, people will use solar and battery-powered solutions.

But try and read this article from Forbes on why governments would fail miserably..

No one is expecting that to be happened because may people have invested a lot into this bitcoin, even many companies are being developing this new technology and also many countries want legalize this bitcoin as one of payment method in future. Now every country is following same approach that every thing should be done in the form of digital currency. So it might be very difficult to ban btc i hope.

If btc was banned everywhere then the legal BTC exchanges would shut down, and maybe btc will be used to deal in illegal products?

It would not happen as big companies in the top 100 where using/joining to use it now like Microsoft because they saw potential on it to be a good digital currency. Unless majority of it will pursue to make it illegal then it will be ban as they can influence the government to do something to it.

Right the development and future of bitcoin have lots to offer in everyone. It opens lot of opportunities in evefy user. It offers services that no one or other companies did before. So i hope it will not be banned in anyway possible. It gives chances to everyone ti be rich just by having patient, focus and strategies in bitcoin world.

No can could ever ban it because it decentralized neither one could ban it even if it is banned then also someone wool still use it in dark. Because none could ever track where and even bitcoin is used by whom. It's all anonymous.

Nobody can ban BTC ever in thousand years.
Because BTC is an anonymous, P2P network and by banning government cannot stop us from doing anonymous transactions using TOR and VPNs.rying t
So good luck trying to ban it! Cool

Dont say it wont happen. One thing I have learned is that anything is possible. And those multi-national you are saying, they exist within the armbit of the law. If countries decide to ban Bitcoin, what they need is to sign a Charter at the level of United Nations and thats it...

Now if it is banned, then its use will only be in a more secretive way but I am sure its total ban might spell doom because alot of people will abandon which will make the price come crashing...

I think every part that has accepted bitcoin would be mad if that happens. What happens is really uncertain but we will know when that time comes. The bitcointalk community will still continue to run but maybe in another way. It will become harder to access so it's not easily seen by everyone and it won't be hi-jacked by the government that banned Bitcoin.

But I know it's highly unlikely that Bitcoin will be banned.
