Rather than explaining what is airdrop, i want to warn all of you to not to use your original e-mail adress for airdrop's. The reason behind this is most of them are scam like other people said here and their aim is steal your e-mail or other info's to hack your exchange account's or wallets. Think twice when you are using your e-mail adress on registering kind of things like airdrop etc.
Airdrop is basically the team behind the coin is giving away free money to people who participate on them. They need you to promote their coins in exchange of the tokens but you can also choose not to promote promoting only gives bonuses.

This question have been ask a lot of times here in the forum and searching it in the web will not give you a hard time. and to answer this question. airdrops is simply a free coin or token distributed to people that wants to participate by just giving them your ethereum address that supports erc20 tokens and other infos. you will earn tokens depending to your rank here in the forum or depends on the rules of the airdrop.

Isn't it similar to Bounty campaign of ICO? So what makes Airdrop different than Bounty campaigns? Some people claim that Airdrop pays better
The main differences are, airdrop more effortless than bounty campaigns. You only need fill form, and submit your data such as bitcointalk username, twitter and facebook account and of course your wallet address to receive the tokens/coins

Airdrop is project reward from development, but with small amount.
So, you will earn some reward with small fund allocation.
If you want to earn a lot of token, maybe you can try another project like Bounty.

Well, free way of distibution. Some group use that way to lift and stand in wider spot, easy publicity, easy audience.
