Knowledge about its existence for one? Other than that they are probably just waiting for it to become more used overall.

The moment they can use it to buy anything on/offline then it will be the number one form of transactions for sure.

The main reason is the people get carried away with the news that they hear about the bitcoin, and I think they should start researching on their own and that will show them the clear picture of bitcoin.

I think one of the biggest issue is the fluctuation of Bitcoin value. One day it's $637 USD another week it might be $800 USD, and one month later it might be $300 USD.

I was trying to push fourth the idea to a friend on cryptocurrencies and real life usage, for example via Plutus or any other similar platforms that helps to bridge bitcoin to the real world to make purchases on daily items. But he did ask a good question on fluctuation. At that time, I don't have an answer. Perhaps one of you might be able to better address it? If BTC isn't hedged to a local FIAT, e.g USD or AUD for that matter, then one day a coffee that's $4 USD may cost me less bitcoins and another day may cost me way too much bitcoins.

Doesn't make sense to be using much of it if it's not hedged.

Your will understand it once he go deep in knowing what bitcoin is. I was just taught with the basics and if he is really in to bitcoin then he should be the one who will be willing to get more about it. The attraction from earning free is the first goal but later on you should teach yourself.

Well you are a good listener and follower if you are just taught only with the basics. Because I taught a lot of people regarding bitcoin, but it seems they are having hard time to cope up what bitcoin really is.
But in the end they learned as the day passes each by each thing with bitcoin they are learning but they stopped when they saw the price is falling.

It's not for being a good listener or follower. They truly wants to know more about bitcoin that's why he is able to get some of advance information with only basics information as a start.

Also those person that having a hard time to cope up for really a long time teaching is really not serious about knowing bitcoin more. All they know is just to earn.

Haha! exactly what I've experience, the last time my brother wants me to learn about how to use bitcoin, then I can't understand everything so, nothing came into my mind but I just really want to earn. But when I actually really want to know about it i forced him to teach me and make me understand  what he is teaching me. Then now, I actually know how it works. Smiley

That's how everyone learns, slowly and steadily. I too took a lot of time to know what this is and how it works, but in the end, I am know a somewhat knowledgeable person about bitcoins and can tell everyone about this without hesitating on any topic.

if the people will good knowledge about bitcoin start some academies and give lectures about that then within a shortest time a lot of people will get knowledge about bitcoin and will not hate bitcoin any more

Well I think the one that is stopping people from using bitcoin is the media I think. They always relate bitcoin to drugs and that is what's stopping people to use bitcoin.
thats the thing that stops people the most, in my opinion if there werent such huge media influence the bitcoin adoption would be way faster as more people would be interested in bitcoins

i think also people stop themselves from using bitcoin especially if they think that bitcoin use might be illegal and they are worried to use it in order not to have trouble with law
i think in preset time the first most reason is that people cannot use bitoicn in bazaar and market like other local currencies. they is why people are avoiding to use it and even to accept it from other. there are a few shops in some area who are accepting bitcoin in the shops for shopping.

yeah I do not know the media is controlled by anyone but why do they always proclaim the ugliness of bitcoin? and make bitcoin be ugly image in the eyes of the community

So after reading this article and especially the ending:

Quote
One thing is for certain: having made Bitcoin less of a security worry, transparency will now be key in attracting users to new models, placing control of funds and fees in an upfront way in their own hands.

I'm wondering what's stopping people from using bitcoin?

And now I'm talking about people who already aware of bitcoin and how it works but still not using it.

The price is now pretty much stable for more then a year, security issues are out of the question - so why we can't see in 2015 more companies switching to it, especially considering the unstable condition of moden economy?

i think large reason why not many people use bitcoins yet is because they don't know enough about this, so they need  info about bitcoins to use it, i am sure

and second reason is maybe because they are afraid of losing their money as they think that it is a scam, or they will lose their money after any bitcoin price drop

Most people don't know about bitcoin. and the people who know, well they are for the vast majority sceptical, for now it's still incredibly a closed tiny world. Even if everyone talked about it for a while (the news, good magazines, etc) after the initial 'that's cool' people in the middle lost interest. I believe the main reason is that they perceive the entire thing like something dangerous somehow. I talked with a lot of firends that know bitcoins but are just too scared about trying and they don't have a good incentive (basically they don't need them): If you spend just a few hours on your laptop every day, you may see the entire thing like a distant and complicated world.
Most people wouldn't even dare touch the surface of what's bitcoin is to provide. Even the smallest info.

People are too ignorant to know of the possibilities of bitcoin and too afraid because the mass media has always been reporting negative issues about bitcoin.

I think lack of knowledge is the major issue here. People are not aware about bitcoin, so it makes difficult for them to start using it or invest their money on bitcoin.
If people know they could earn decent money from bitcoin, that would encourage them to use bitcoin.

As quoted lack of knowledge about bitcoin is one among the important factor which stops people stand away from bitcoin. Even users who know about bitcoin don't really understand its potential.

Maintain Social Distance, Stay safe.
BTC has not yet reached the whole world. Some do use the BTC and some do not as they think it has a lot of risk in moving with this. But BTC is alwasy a safest forum to gain money. People should get to know more benefits of BTC. The more they know, the more they will be aware interested.
Honestly yeah not all people dont know about bicoin  but the problem is this is not the only forum that can earn money .. we don't know that there is more precious outside in this forum.. and they are afraid for bitcoin because they heard many things that bitcoin is scam and the other thing is the already experience of scam.. thats why they are stop using bitcoin..

I think one of the major drawbacks is for the newbies, and even for the experienced, it's very easy to make a mistake and end up paying a lot of money, or not enough money, but mistakingly adding or subtracting a zero or moving a comma, and BTC has no way to get refunds so..

It is manly because of the lack of knowledge newbies should have before starting to do transactions in bitcoins, it is better to learn before actually starting to do it. Mistakes in bitcoin transactions could cost you a lot if you accidentally send non-purposed amount to anyone.

That can really be a reason as people might feel that once sent the bitcoins with wrong amounts, it is similar to seeing your money being burned live. But I feel users are careful and should be careful enough to avoid such mistakes again. Thank you very much for sharing. It would help a lot of members here.

Very hard to detect why people don't using bitcoin, it's individual problem for everybody, somebody don't like bitcoin, somebody is too old to start and many other reasons.

I dont think age matters. It is the mind. If they open it and willing to be taught about it then there would be no problem at all. As long as the person knew some basic computer it will be done.
Yes and sometimes young people are curious to know more things and that is the reason why most of the bitcoin users are youth. I think the lack of interest and curiosity is what is stopping people from using bitcoins.

Curiosity is different from lack of interest.

Curiosity is to reserach or putting themselves on bitcoin world. Because of curiousity people automatically putting themselves in the situation of earning bitcoin. If they will like it, they will continue, if they don't then they will flee.

Yes and that is why more are also greedy because of their hot blood. Young ones that got a lot of questions in their mind will be the one profiting from here if they can control that greed also.

Greediness is really one of the bad attitude that can make a person fall. But we can't blame them. But as for those youths that are experiencing to earn real money with bitcoin that is a good model for those older ones.
But still if those old people are not really interested in bitcoin then they aren't going to use bitcoin at all.
