i'm not being overly confident or anything, but i can say that i am a responsible person so since the beginning of gambling i have never been involved in serious gambling problems. although at some times i have gambled excessively, i use money that i think that when it is lost it doesn't mean anything to me, so it prevents me from getting involved further in gambling and losing my money on it.

because i think that when you are a responsible person in real life, then it is not difficult for you to be responsible in gambling too.

I want to be as responsible as possible when it comes to gamble but I wont deny the fact that sometime I did it late.
Late means that I realized it after lose some money or once my wife warn me about my gambling habits.
I always try to learn from my own experiences so I can reduce the chance to repeat the same mistakes I did before.
The most imortpant thing is that we should not realize it TOO LATE, I'm sure you know what I mean with too late.

Voted responsible gambler... When it's about gambling I do had this fear of losing away my money in the early times when I started gambling, this fear to lose my money instilled a wholesome attitude of a responsible gambler in me right from beginning. As time went on and reading about others negative stories about the effect of irresponsible gambling on them I just told myself that the only way for me to stay longer and enjoy my time as a gambler is to stay responsible at it by all means necessary.

Losing a lot of money is the main reason most gamblers quit their gambling habits or minimize the way they gamble. In my case, I minimize the way I gamble when I lose the amount I wasn't expecting to lose within a short time, that experience alone made me learn how to gamble less so that I won't lose hugely in betting in a single day. Nothing more painful than knowing fully well that the money you have with you for an important thing is no more in your custody

Yea, gamblers desist from excessive gambling when they notice that it ain't beneficial to them instead they lose more than the profit but this happens when a gambler is in control of his/her gambling habits, gambling has to be done with caution, gambling ordinarily need carefulness so everyone that wants to be be responsible in gambling have to do it ina safest way which is gambling with what you can afford to lose, most addiction today was as a result of gamblers inability to control there emotion when loses occur, if you lose funds in gambling though it is not an easy thing to bear but your ability to control yourself is what I call responsible gambling.

We all know that we cannot play for a long time without being responsible players; we could go crazy, or we could lose all our money; at some point, you have to realize that you need to play responsibly, so I created this poll and this discussion to pick your reasons and explain it.

In my case, I have to lose a lot of money to realize I have to gamble responsibly if I don't want to break my finances and experience depression, so now I control myself and monitor my expenses, and I'm doing good with it.

Two conditions can happen and be the reason why some gamblers will be responsible on the way they are gambling, when they make huge losses and the whole thing affects them badly, secondly is when they are gambling from the money or profits they are earning and thinks of how they could be able to afford a living despite their passion for gambling while none is being affected, they will then come into the realization of giving it a second thought on why they need to be a responsible gambler.

True, I quite agree with you that it is likely that someone can become a responsible gambler if they have experienced very bad things or downturns that traumatize them so that with this incident there is a possibility for them to feel discouraged and do not want to do the same way to avoid the same events that make them experience such bad effects.

But on the other hand it may depend on the person too, because not everyone has the same capacity in terms of feeling traumatized by something, which means that there may be some people who continue their way of gambling even though they have experienced a lot of adversity by applying such an approach where maybe they have to experience a truly significant impact to be able to make them realize their mistakes.

I am a responsible person now but it wasn't till a couple of years of gambling lightly did I realized that I was turning heavily into it so I needed to manage how I do so properly. It was kind of a gradual process, the more I started to gamble and the more I started to increase the wagers I did, the more I realized that I had to set some rules that I need to follow 100%. It was hard at first, I often skipped or ignored it but it gradually improved over time and since then, I luckily haven't had any big issues with it.
This is what I'm saying in my head when I see the last choice in the poll. I don't think there is a responsible person when they start something but we can only attained it, once we lose our way and managed to get back on the right track again, so OP should not include it there. I was glad that you are doing well now buddy. Rest only assure that it will continue all the way.

The same message I was going to say to my self because that's how exactly what I've been through. The 3 reasons/choices in the poll can seem to be ignored easily by us but it was the first, is the one that can make us realize to slow down in gambling for good because quitting it permanently is heavy.

I don't want to experience the same thing. It is enough for me to know it from other people's experience. I've read many stories of gamblers who lost a lot of money because they play in a careless way. Even, there are gamblers who experience addictions and trapped in huge loans because of gambling excessively. This surely motivated me to be a responsible gambler, this is the only way to avoid the worse scenario.

It is good if you already become a responsible gambler. You need to always limit your funds and time in gambling. You don't try to play excessively and chase the wins. Always remember that mostly gambling games are about the luck, we can't chase the luck! What we do is just playing gambling normally, most of the point of gambling is for fun only. So why we must spend too much money if our purpose is mainly for fun. If we can commit with this way, I think we can always be a responsible gambler.  Wink

I don't think there is anything to fear if you know your spending limit. If you know that a dollar is what you can use to gamble, don't go out of that limit and bet with $2, if you know $100 is what you can spend in gambling without feeling any remorse of any loss, then don't go and bet with your savings thinking you can double that because if you do, there is going to be a consequence, it's either you regret betting in the first place or become irresponsible gambler with addiction.

I don't think this your gambling lifestyle is a healthy one, as I said above if you want to gamble, use amount you can afford to lose. In your own case, instead of repeatedly losing you can make initial bankroll of total amount of money you know you can afford to lose and then you can be betting from there, you will see that even though you don't win much for that cycle, you wouldn't bother about anything.

I don't bet much so my chances of losing money are very low. I don't want to lose more risk if I don't have much money. I prefer saving to gambling where there is no risk. But responsible gamblers can control themselves so they don't become greedy. Responsible gambling occurs in balance with other activities in their lives and can manage everything easily without causing problems or harm to themselves or others. Do not gamble under the influence of drugs or alcohol to control yourself. Take regular breaks from gambling and engage in other enjoyable forms of entertainment create balance in your life.

Yes and maybe I would say that you have a good mindset in terms of addressing gambling, you understand that gambling is always risky so with that awareness you prefer to gamble with a small budget amount so that the possibility of risk is also small, that's good friend and I hope you keep that approach because after all only that approach can make you avoid various bad possibilities that are not wanted.

On the other hand, responsible gambling is always recommended but only a few gamblers are really able to apply good responsibility in their gambling activities, one of the reasons is because they are too focused on the chances of winning in gambling, they think that victory is easy to get, even though they have to sacrifice a lot of loss and pressure to get that victory, But it is also still uncertain because after all the victory can never be predicted and will only come by chance when luck comes, and this is the reason why a gambler who has the intention of earning instead suffers a lot of losses, so it is clear that the best approach to gambling is to limit your expectations of victory, the absence of certainty and guarantee in victory will only make you feel more disappointed and regretful at the end of the session.

I wouldn't make a choice from the Poll you made due to various reasons:

1. From the get-go I quitted gambling once I realized I'm falling into gambling addiction, and when I say I quitted, I had all the intents and wants to quit for good, never to look back on gambling ever again, the trauma and the mental torture isn't just for me, and the shit I went through while I was trying to recover while I'm doing my hardest not to go on a gambling site and place bets was something that I didn't ever want to experience again. I just so happened to gamble right now because I felt like it, good thing I knew my lesson too.

2. I don't have any inspirations to take my realizations from. It all came from me and I am the man to credit for it. whilst friends and family definitely helped with my recovery phase, the thing is that the choice to even make the first step came from me first and foremost. And had it not been for that snap of a finger smart judgement moment, I would've remained stuck in gambling addiction hell till now, probably poor as a dog too.

I believe for someone or most of us to realize and learn a lesson is only when we lose a big money or continue losing for long to realize that it is time either to stop for good or reduce the amount of gambling and the time spent on screen chasing your losses.
Personally, When I started gambling with smaller budget I was doing good, sometimes winning and sometimes losing, but when I lose, it never effected me at first. However, with time, I didn’t realize that in every session I was putting more money and kept losing strike, one time, I had some money that I supposed to spend in a very important matter , but my hunger for gambling or maybe it was addiction that time, I deposited that amount on a casino, started gambling, fortunately I realized what I was doing is so wrong and after losing almost 50% of it. I decided to withdraw it and behave myself, took a long brake from gambling that time and I became so careful and whenever I feel my gambling activity increased, I take a small brake.
Everyone should experience gambling in a bad way to learn and become responsible and moderate in the way of gambling.

Well thats the hard way to actually learn but I know you are not alone because just like you I believe the are lots of person under this same category but many would claim to be the latter and that's because it's the web and there is absolutely freedom to what you can say. If there is a percentage check on this, I believe the larger margin would fall on the part where people often turn crazy with their habits .

Pretty much the same that happened to so many people within this community, as a newbie within the world of gambling I initially thought It was possible for me to profit in a consistent way off my gambling sessions. I started to try to get money out of dices, my strategy (which was very stupid of me) was to use a very low multiplier and a high enough wager for me so slowly accumulate come cents and (by the end of the session) to withdraw several dollars, I thought it was possible for me to have reliable profits with this technique in the long term. It was very foolish of me, of course.
In the end, the inevitable happened and I ended up losing the wager I intended to multiple through that strategy, It was not much, but still it was a high enough amount for me to consider to chase that loss, I almost did... but then I recalled the stories I had read here in the gambling session of the forum and quit my session.

That was the night I realized one is never supposed to gamble or try to profit of casinos in a reckless way or allow greed to take the best off yourselves, it is literally to jeopardize our current livelihood. Fortunately, I am doing good and control my wager, I do not longer deposit anywhere with the expectations of profit, perhaps unless when it comes to sport-betting.

Don't know if it's due to denial, or what, but most people voted for the "I am responsible" option and so did I.
I'm talking from experience here. I've never lost a lot of money, I've never chased losses. I'm a bit afraid of doing that which is why I mostly bet on sports and the events I bet on are often days away, so I can't really chase a loss, or lose a lot of money trying to stay in the game. I feel no pressure. I either win or lose, regardless of what happens I will bet again in a few days or weeks and I won't feel compelled to do so. When I'm on vacation I don't gamble, just as I don't check the price of bitcoin.

I will say the truth, most likely I am not that much of a responsible person,I am relatively responsible and when I am playing with money I can afford to lose I keep going to either hit the max win or lose it all and when I am playing with money I cannot afford to lose I am somehwat more pragmatic which in overall makes me a responsible person. So this is me and I am in the middle, sometimes being responsible and sometimes being not.

I am a responsible person

And im sure of this one.. Doesnt really need for other people to tell me on what should i do or whatever the decisions i do make.Somehow its not bad to hear out some advises but actually you wont really be needing it as long you do find yourself that being responsible on whatever the things that you are really that dealing with. Common sense and awareness on the things you've been doing should be enough.
Its impossible that you dont know about on how risky gambling is and it would be normal that you would be needing to have that control on spending up your money so that you wont really be ending up
on sleeping on the streets because this is how gambling do works but actually it is really just that for the sake of fun but if you wont be that careful then you would surely be messing up your life with.

Self control is needed for any gambler to know they’re over gambling and they need to stop, I heard several emotional stories online about gamble addict, people taking their life just because they gambled owing debt, marriage conflict etc so I had to restructure my gambling habit, restructuring an addictive habit is so difficult that’s why I hardly blame an addict who want to change badly as all this requires gradual process. Regardless our choice being a responsible gambler, gambling is actually fun but, sometimes I feel like quitting for a while cause of the excess loss.
