Truth to be told, before I started gambling I actually made rules for myself, I listed there all the things I shouldn't do and shouldn't happen to me especially since I grew up in a family with relatives whose lives became miserable because of gambling, at a young age, I told myself that I didn't want to have a life like theirs until I carried that thought to adulthood and until I participated in gambling. Thankfully I can follow my rules and I can say that I am a responsible gambler.

What other people have experienced is more than enough to remind me how important it is to control myself when gambling, and how important it is to be a responsible gambler. Because learning is not only learning from what we experience, but also from what other people experience. Where many people are trapped in the cycle of hopeless gambling, they have lost everything including wealth, the people closest to them, and the trust of other people. And do we have to experience all that first, to understand the negative impact of irresponsible gambling activities? No, right? and therefore, before something bad happens to us, control ourselves and the gambling activities we do as best as possible, so that we can always avoid all the negative impacts of gambling.

Right from when I started gambling I have always managed my bankroll properly and I have never had to regret depositing more than I could afford to lose. The only issue I know I had back then was staying too long in my account - there are times when I’ll keep toggling between winning and losing and that would keep my account with some balance and because of that I’d have to stay longer and gamble more - which eventually led to me not doing anything useful with my time. That was the only problem I had but fortunately I was able to manage it and even if I have balance in my account I can still log out and come back another time to continue my game.

OP I could understand that you virtually could be talking out of experience. You know sometimes things happens so that one would could learn how to control situations.
You have spoken well but however, I have never gambled out of my budget and as a matter of fact, I can categorically and boldly say it aloud that I am a responsible gambler and I do not exceed my limit while gambling. Although not every time it ends in my court but most times I smile home with a good take away package. I am not addicted to gambling so I know when to call it a day while gambling.

Before I started gambling I have been around core gamblers. I have seen responsible and irresponsible gambling and its effects. I have seen people gamble with shoes, watches, and clothing because they were addicted to gambling or chasing losses. There are times when a fight breaks out between gamblers because of irresponsible gambling.

I have also been around some of the finest and responsible gamblers whom I admired. These set of gamblers have control over how much they spend on gambling. With this experience, it was now up to me to make my choice and I decided to be responsible from the onset. Although there are times when I gamble irresponsibly in most cases I have always been a responsible gambler.

Well, for me, I've been a responsible guy right from time even before I started gambling, but i understand that being responsible in real life doesn't connote or equal to being responsible with activities like gambling, but I believe that being responsible naturally helped me to be very careful when I started gambling, because I've heard and read stories of people who were rich, but ended up becoming extremely broke simply because they lost all their fortune to gambling, even though I wasn't rich at the time, I didn't want the same thing to happen to me even with the little money I had, so, I was always very careful with how much I bet on games while gambling.

The above have helped me to teach myself how to become a responsible gambler right from the onset, and today, I am mostly happy with all my gambling decisions, because I never tend to lose more than I can afford, only ones (if I remember correctly) have I lost money I never prepared to lose, and since then, I've not made such mistake again.

Your experience with gambling addictions is not different from that of many of us here on the board who may have experienced gambling at one time or the other, gambling addictions have lead to so much loses for us but then thank Goodness we were able to escape it since we are extremely determine to get over the whole thing, because gambling addictions can only be overcome via self determinations.

I realized this as soon as I started with sports betting, on my first day, I deposited money, played and lost everything, on the second day I deposited again, played and lost everything. On the third day I deposited again, played and lost everything. Then I went to sleep sad, I confess that I couldn't understand what was happening, because I didn't know anything about sports betting and yet I deluded myself into thinking that I could make a profit. When I started thinking about my losses, I made the decision to put the last little money I had left in the casino because I didn't reach the minimum withdrawal amount and I bet, I didn't even expect that I would get my bet right.

when I lost my rent money for the month(it might not be a big deal for some but it was for me), though I still had money saved in my bank at the time of losing my rent money and it is what I used to pay for the rent, it still affected me financially for a while. realizing and getting scared of how risky it is to gamble money you can't afford to lose made me take a step back from gambling at the time and reevaluate what I have been doing. the change was not instant, I used to make excuses to gamble but in the end, I was able to get out of my gambling problem and be more responsible with my money when gambling.

I voted the top one but I've only lost more then I would like not that I had put a large amount into one place to bet in one session to begin with. Its true that anyone can make a mistake and lose more then they planned to with any variation of details during a bet.

Mostly I made a mixup with live betting which gives very little time but is very convenient way to engage with sports betting during a match. Only deposit a daily amount and most of the time you will be ok, I think crypto is ideal to segregate the amounts.

I chosed the last option because I know that I am responsible player because I wouldn't want to experience much lose before I could apply responsibleness in my bet, what I does is that I always have some special weeks I do go into gambling this on a based that I can be sure that winning is close or nearly because when going into gambling without a proper analysis on a game you want to bet makes it so easily for you to lose. Most people that often lose is as a cause of irresponsible gambling and not thoroughly doing their analysis couple with eagerness to hit some certain amount.

After losing all my weekly salary. I think that's the worst-case scenario that I have done in my life and I won't do it again.
I was so hooked on a slot game that I had forgotten to think ahead. The plan was also wrecked and I just wanted to win more than what I had lost.

Honestly there fells no necessity to apply conciousness at the places were you feels there is no form of threats.
So any gambler that thinks gambling has no negative impacts would surely fall victim to irresponsibilities.

Perhaps some take chances of gambling responsibly either after tough lessions of their gambling or by others experiences.
I personally, I learnt my responsible gambling in a hard way after multiple looses that affects my emotions although I have not been such addicted that I cannot control when to stop.

Yes, in my case I also had to lose some amount of money until I realized I was taking the wrong approach towards gambling. I had gambling as a potential source of income to make steady passive income profit, so as you can see I was really wrong about it, and it was only though losses that I understood I couldn't overcome the house edge factor, which prevents us from making profit on long run, despite the strategies we use and the size of the bets we place.

Now I know to be responsible gambler means to know we can't defeat the house the more we play. I finally got aware about my personal limits inside the game, so I don't get greedy anymore and stick to a pre-determined bankroll which can never be trespassed. People around me sometimes advised me that it was taking so much risks by gambling, but I didn't listen to them at all. I had to learn by myself, through my own mistakes...

I think we can all agree that experience is the best teacher especially in this type of situation.

Gambling is all about chances and odds. The result can either go two (2) directions: either you win or you lose miserably. Sure, there is always that possibility of winning huge amounts of money but remember that there is also that equal chance of you losing the same.

Whenever a person wins in a gambling game, there is this high and adrenaline that they feel. They think that they can experience this feeling and win this amount of money by betting again without discounting the fact that the house always wins due to the presence of house edge.

Personally, I learned more when I realized that I made a huge mistake of betting continuously. I lost lots of money in the process and that regret still lingers from time-to-time. The good thing, however, is that my experience is what made me the person today, which definitely made me more responsible in the process.

I sort of feel the opposite. I've always been an extremely responsible gambler and have never lost a bet that I got emotional about because I needed the money. At this point, it feels like I may need some irresponsibility with my gambling to bring some fun. Lately I've tossed some bucks at slot machines knowing I was setting money on fire, but it was nice to get a feeling of excitement with the possibility of hitting a major jackpot. Sure, so far I've just lost any winnings on the slots, but it was fun trying something new as opposed to low stakes sports betting. Just make sure if you're going to set your money on fire that you have enough to where losing it doesn't effect you.

There's a saying experience is the best teacher, and you have to lose something to realize how important it is, so when I lose a lot of money, I realize this cannot go on.

I realize I have to take control of my greed if I want to continue to gamble because there are a lot of risks in gambling. You're out if you give in, so I prefer to control and just enjoy the experience rather than trying to make money.
