For big e-commerce use of bitcoin in the next few years won't bring big benefit. Users of cryptocurrency are early followers for today. Those who believe in them, despite immaturity of cryptocurrencies for use in the market. Yet there is no sufficient critical mass of users who will be able to use every day bitcoin as means of payment instead of traditional means of payment

I don't think so mate.
In 2010 you can tell we are early adopter, but as mass media all over the world is talking about it, it's anymore something restricted to some port of human kind - everyone could easily open their wallet and start accept and pay with it. It pretty easy, don't you think ?
You have only to take e pic of the QRcode and that's it !

Purse.io is already acting like bridge between amazon and bitcoin despite the fact that amazon haven't announced support for bitcoin. But there are rumors that soon they gonna officially accept bitcoin as payment method.

There are still few mega merchants that are accepting bitcoin like overstock.com and steam.

I tried purse.io and it's really good !
I think the same - but as for now we have to wait to something big happen. You named it : they are considering it - they have to
Anyway as usual their Governments are very worried about taxes stuff that could happen if it would spread , cause they no more can control it

Most of them depends on their governments treatment on bitcoin since they are duly registered and need to follow certain laws. Bitcoin issues like possible blockchain take over and sometimes network being unstable are something they want to assure. Volatility is also a concern to them. I still see Bitcoin slowly accepted soon and who knows another friendly crypto will be more acceptable to giant e-commerce companies.

Here it's the point.
I want to buy in Amazon or Alibaba something and pay in BTC.
Do you ever think this is gonna happen or not?

I mean, little and local e-shop are supporting nowadays the Criptocurrency Gateway; why instead do they seem to be late adopters?

And if yes, when do you think it will happen?
Jack Ma, the Alibaba founder, is a good entrepreneur. Of course bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are filling up in his mind that having bitcoins as payment in his own e commerce shop, might give shine on his business.

Majority of big businesses still don't consider introducing and accepting bitcoin because this is still big risk and potential loss because of bitcoin volatility. And some influence of politics can't be discarded. Also, because of their legal and regulatory obligations in many countries bitcoin regulation are the precondition for introducing bitcoin into business.

It's gonna happen, maybe next year or two more years but i can see it happening. Crypto popularity is really booming especially this year, and if the demand is high, they will add it because surely it will bring them more revenue.

As of now that cryptocurrency is working it’s way to mainstream and can’t be stopped by any means of black propaganda and regulations on some country’s.. The time it will be coming out as an option with Alibaba and Amazon is nearing and I believe that this is now on the table of both companies discussing this feature and its impact to they’re company.. But still let’s wait for it biggest it will surely help also our community..

There's a lot of online shop that accepts bitcoin nowadays and the three of them are Newegg, Shopify and Steam. But the main form of payment and still the most recommended is still fiat currency I think it is because of the fluctuations and volatility that's why some of the biggest e-commerce businesses are still in doubt in adapting cryptocurrencies as a payment but soon to be that the majority of all online stores will accept bitcoin for their products i think some of them are still in development and experimental but we will see soon.

You are referring to a templates which can support the gateway such as Spotify - ok this is the first step . But I'm looking the solution of actually paying with BTC or other CCs in real world. I men something is missing right ?

I think scaling is definitely a challenge that are identified by them. They would be losing money, when people want to do transactions and Bitcoin goes through a spam period and these transactions cannot be done within a few hours. < slow confirmations >

This will cause further problems with their customer support being flooded with problems regarding "confirmation" issues. People has become used to "instant" transaction confirmation with other payment options like Credit cards and PayPal. Bitcoin has to address these issues, before it can be seriously considered by these ecommerce giants. ^hmmmmm^

Great consideration as usual for you.
I go along with your thinking

It would still take a long time, do you hear the news that Vatican will show how bitcoin use on Human Slave? Another FUD right? another "bad news" for the reputation of Bitcoin, with these different forces that will release FUD articles about Bitcoin, Giant E Commerce will still think twice integrating bitcoin on their business.

 Grin Grin Cheesy
You made me laugh a LOT.
Who the hell still believe in Vatican say ?
Of course they are doing their political statement, because remember it, you can consider a Vatican as a nation as has its Prime Minister !

And I can tell you man, I'm Italian guy!
So I just don't give a shoot of what he's saying because he is such a hypocritical person - and yet too many people are taking care of what is predicting.

It is really hard to put on a certain date as legality is one of the main concerns, one of the sites you mentioned is owned by a Chinese which we know China have strict laws about cryptocurrencies. Another concern that these companies will face to is the acceptance for it, will there be person who are willing to accept Bitcoin as their mode of payment if they will be incurring additional cost? If these 2 are not a issue anymore then we can start to see these websites to accept Bitcoin in the future.

Great consideration.

Yes the problem is related with the China's movement for Alibaba, but I think we'll see an extraordinary happy ending along with that side.

A member already spoken about Purse so I will not talk about it. But there are some challenges for bitcoin to be accepted as a payment option in giant retail shops and e-commerce websites. Let me list down a few for you,

1. Fluctuating value: Bitcoin's value is dynamic and keeps fluctuating from one end to another within a very short period of time. So if you see a product price is 0.015 bitcoin now, it may change to 0.017 while checking out. E-commerce companies need a way to fight such fluctuations. Because it posses a huge risk on their profitability.

2. Transaction confirmation time: Currently bitcoin transactions usually take around 30 minutes if you pay suitable network fees. SO if you order something, your trade request won't get confirmed before the payment comes to their wallet. The system will have to keep checking for the transaction confirmation and then they can release the product for further processing and shipping. That isn't convenient.

3. Legal status of bitcoin: That is one of major challenges for bitcoin to be accepted as a payment gateway. The legal status of bitcoin is still not clear in majority of the countries. So e-commerce stores will not want to burn their hands on to something like this. They need transparency around their business.

I think these are the three major roadblocks for bitcoin to be accepted as a real payment gateway. It looks good now as an investment asset but not as a currency, at least for now. We need a faster and more stable crypto currency to become mainstream. Sad reality!

Great point buddy.
You cleary paved the trail for what you gonna solve as community.
I think when it will stabilise more then it would be easier to pass the n° 2 point
I totally agree with your last thinking "We need a faster and more stable crypto currency to become mainstream. Sad reality! "

But we gonna solve it  Wink

why instead do they seem to be late adopters?
The number of small retailers is pretty low.  The difference is that they don't have a huge amount of resources to consider it, so their acceptance of BTC is somewhat experimental and they don't expect huge amounts of customers to be paying with it.

There's also the fact that BTC users are quite specific audiences, so very general audiences like Amazon may not be interested enough for it.  A VPN provider or porn site is more likely to accept BTC than Amazon or another major retailer.

As for adoption, I'd say it was happening more when the price was lower.  We're still mentioning the addition of one retailer at a time rather than giving general statistics or information.

If you really need to use those major services, you could try converting BTC to gift cards or using indirect systems like Purse.

The fact is that small retailer does not want to look too forward because they are the last to adapt to the technology itself. But doing that way they are losing the next big opportunity.
With so easy implementation for the retailer would be very bad for him not to take advatages

I think it will happen in the middle of 2018. Already, bitcoin can be paid in restaurants.
