It depends if you are holding good altcoins, then you can gain profit. But if you are holding shitcoins, then no matter how long you will hold it, it is still useless and bring you loses. Sell your coins if you think you gain profit even at 30-50%, don't be greedy to avoid losses.

When should long-held alt coins be sold? When to sell even when we are in profit? That doesn't make sense. Let me know if there is a suitable alternative to this issue.
If you actually held an altcoin for long term that means you only desire to sell it when the price eventually rises, so long term held coins should be sold when your targeted profit is met by that coin, if you are in  profit sometimes its much better to walk away with the profit you have at hand, but if you believe that the coin is still undervalued then you can hold till you feel you have gotten enough profits from it, the only solution to this, is not to be too greedy and always want too much profit from one coin.

For me crypto currencies are a long term investment, I don't have specific time line when to buy and when to sell. It is either that when I need money I look which alt coin has the best profit and I could sell it. Except for potential profit today I also look at the profit over the next 6 months. In my opinion its better to evaluate the coins on a weekly or monthly  basis instead of fixed time periods when to sell.

I suggest you set a target price to sell in advance and place a sell order on the exchange, the advantage of this is that once the price of the coin reaches your target price, it will automatically sell. If you don't place the order in advance, even if the price of the coin rises to your desired price, you may hesitate to sell at the end and miss the opportunity.

We can only calculate profit in our head when the market rises in price. However, we will not actually have it if we do not sell our cryptocurrency at this time of its growth. We will only watch it increase as the market rises in price, and then calculate the losses when the market starts to fall. Of course, the most important thing here is to choose the right time to make a decision to sell cryptocurrency. Here we have to do it ourselves. In practice, the success of our entire activity in the cryptocurrency depends on this.

In my opinion, selling altcoins would be much profitable if you sell it when the bullish market comes because lots of crypto will increase in that time. Right now the market is in bearish state so it would be best if you hold your altcoins or buy more crypto with potential.

Crypto market is like a rolling ball, there wil always be bear market and bull market so the best time to sell is bull market and the best time to buy is bear market, take profits and wait for the whole market to crash before buying back again

If you see that your initial invested fund double or triple better get the initial investment and then hodl the profit until you see and feel in yourself that its the amount that you wanted. Another way is get any possible profit from the long term token that you hodl especially if the profit is in very good amount.

I just experienced the question asked! I have held a certain coin for more than six months and all through the price rise in the first quarter of this year, it was just there.  At the very ATH of ethereum,  it was 3x and I  thought there is still room for growth.  Unfortunately,  we later find a code that was not functioning as it should and that brought down the price to ATL!  Holding altcoin is risky.  But when you hold bitcoin,  you are safe!

I suggest that if you hold altcoin assets and you don't really need money, then you can implement long-term investments, as happened to the price of Dogecoin which in my opinion has a very good history of rising price movements and set the best price increase record because it can get a lot of profit for who still hold Dogecoin when the price is still cheap and can make a profit of more than 1000%.

depending on the target you want, if you only want 100% profit, then you have to sell it when the price has gone up according to your target, because you can't be greedy if you want to invest in cryptocurrency, so when you get a profit, then you have to satisfied with the profit you get, because we never know when the market will go up and down, so of course if you are greedy (don't want to sell it when the price has increased according to your target), then of course you can lose your money, because the price can go down very far at any time.

you are right. And I understand what you said. But can you tell me which target would be the most accurate to sell any token or coin? Any advice that will only benefit the seller by 95%.

This depends on the personal investment goals that you have set for yourself when you were buying those altcoins. If you intend to hold long term, you can do that & if you intend to get make some quick money, you can sell when you are in profit.
Nonetheless i always advise that investors occasionally take profits when they are in profits and they can buy more when price dips

Why don't you think about taking your capital out of the market and letting your profits float in the market. I think this will be a good way for you not to miss out on long term returns on any crypto investment.

You should know how to deal with the volatility of the market first so you'll know what to do during the pump and dump. As for me, setting a certain goal before selling would be a good strategy. Once you reach your target goal and you gain your desired profit, then that's a good time to sell. Things will depend on the amount of profit that you want to earn.

It is really hard to decide when to sell a long-held altcoin most special when its value is oftenly increasing. You start to wonder until when will the price keep on going up or is it the right time already? Will I regret it if ever it is already the peak and it will keep on going down eventually? For me, if ever the altcoin you are currently investing at is doing good, the best way to know when to sell is though watching the price movement, if it is rapidly increasing then keep on holding for a while but if you are already seeing it is going down, sell while it is still high. Staying informed about the news with regards to crypto market will also help so always make sure you are always updated.

there are altcoins that are suitable for long-term investment and some are short-term, you have to really know and analyze the altcoins you want to invest in, don't take a wrong step or you will regret and be traumatized to invest in the crypto world, many people already successful in crypto investment, so it's not impossible
How do you decide on the long term and short term coins? I have been invested in a coin that I think has a very very good long term situation but the price has gone down from 4k to 3k and I do not get why? It is just an algo stable coin and so far 1 of them brings about 70 or 80 bucks give or take interest daily, and that is DAILY which means in less than 2 months you make the whole money back, that is a lot of money and it hasn't changed much for months now, it has been like this.

So, I am not sure why it went down in the short term and I want to believe that it is a great coin for long term but I do not know how to understand if something is long term or short term. Is there a specific metric that tells you that "this is why it is a short term coin" or "this is the reason it is a long term coin" type of situation? If there is a way to separate them, it would be awesome to learn.

Long held coins bought from ICO are rarely making it through., they've lost their worth and most investors were scammed. But if ever you have some and still hold, you should probably sell it, a good profit of 10 to 20 percent is okay, 50 percent is good, if you're lucky to attain 100 percent then it's a win. Don't be greedy as it won't just be the green days that you will be experiencing, so better make a profit.

Here you need to proceed from each specific case. In general, if we see that the price has risen very decently and the profit is significant, so why not sell such an altcoin. At the same time, if there is information that the price of this cryptocurrency may still grow and further, then it would be more correct to sell it in parts. If the growth is insignificant, you need to proceed from the potential for its growth. We still hope for the altcoin season after bitcoin stops in price growth for a while.

Holding your coin for too long is not ideal. It is up to you to decide when to take your profit, just remember that profit is profit even if you had sold and the price kept going up. It is better to sell at profit than selling with a loss. Not all projects will continue to bloom in the market, there is always another project to replace it sometime soon.
