"Best" is a subjective term. It would depend on what parameter you are judging them by. A coin that may be the best at one particular application might be a very poor model for doing something else. Blockchain technology is very diverse and each coin has its own advantages. You should be clear about what the superiority is. An example of transaction speed or uniqueness ... Everyone and I can advise you
ethereum, like bitcoin, cannot possibly scale. ethereum is far to slow to be of practical value, especially in a world where we want it now, not 10 seconds from now. ethereum is too slow. its a novelty that doesn't work in practice.
From my perception the best technology for altcoins is the ETH. It is called the "World Computer". It enables to compete with offer services to the users.
I think that Ziliqa has the best technology at the moment, but some others are more stablished, like for example NEO or Ethereum for smart contracts.

NEO, WAVES, LISK, ETH all have smart contract feature which can be big thing in future or its already getting lots of attention. There are also some other new players in smart contract field but they are pretty new and might find hard time competing with established one.

It depends, some altcoins have strong artificial intelligence , some have a good algorithm to do something which is humanly impossible and some too have a speed of transactions on blockchian transactions.
