Residential area determine the best crypto currency exchange that will suit your need OP and you can check the bestbitcoinexchange site. For that. However, I'm currently using coinbase,yobit and bitwala which I found useful.
There are many Bitcoin exchange in the world and some are country specific and some allows global audience. I am using Bitfinex.
I found there is lots of things to learn…… 
I am using poloniex for bitcoin exchange because its very easy to use.
Poloniex is also good, but we need to choose bitcoin exchange which apropriate for our strategy. For me bitfinex is the best for my trading strategy. 
I use some exchange to do transactions and exchange them bittrex, etherdelta, hitbtc and yobit. because all that I've often used and very convenient for the transaction.
I love to use binance.com, they new exchange but have add many my favorite altcoins. They platform so easy to use for newbie or even old traders.
HitBTC and Poloniex are my choice. With altcoin and new tokens I use etherdelta. Both of them are good exchanges you can consider
the best bitcoin exchange for me is etherdelta because he is not stricted when it comes to trading and you are still quick to get your money.
If you're talking trading using bitcoin I'm afraid that you can't use etherdelta as this only supports ERC20 tokens.
There are a lot of exchanges now so we have many options but still there are some that have a poor support.
Personally, my taste is always in bittrex, hitbtc and coinexchange, these never gave me a headache and every transactions went smoothly.
I am using decentralized exchangers like shapeshift and novaexchange right now, because it will close now next year. Bitfinex is also still a good choice.
Man there's so many, one particular one I believe will come to stay is sugar exchange, sugarexchange.io

I'm using bittrex and now hitbtc because of some other alt coins that are on hype there. But before I'm using poloniex and shapeshift.io. I'm not focusing with only one exchange now since I'm comparing the price of the coins that I'm trading.
With bitfinx shutting down its service and coinbase being priced very high which other service do you use?
I like Bittrex because it is a more well known and trusted exchange and has good trade volume. There are several I have used in the past but because of the number of coins available and the reputation, I’m going with Bittrex right now.
As far as Coinbase is concerned, I would only use them to initially buy or to cash out. They aren’t really set up as a trading exchange at least the last time I used them. And I think they are kind of expensive.

I feel good with bittrex, livecoin. Eventually try their service to buy sone of my likely alts whenever I've received pretty good amont of Bitcoin.

prefer to using poloniex because withdraw fee bitcoin on poloniex less than 0.0002 btc
and in poloniex , price all coin worth with price altcoin in bittrex

HitBTC and Bitfinex are the exchanges I usually use. They are easy to use and safety for me.
Currently that i used to are HITBTC, CRYPTOPIA, and BITTREX this are only exchange market having a good support and volume trading. Like some others depends cryptocurrencies exchanger and the support team.

but i must warn ye with poloniex. very bad customer care. sometimes my ethereum withdrawals are stuch without reason and noone answers tickets!

mostly bittrex, or etherdelta, bitfinex is also not bad to use
