I am always using localbitcoins for purchasing Bitcoin with money and for Crypto to Crypto transaction I am using exchanges like Binance and some of the new centralised exchanges.
With bitfinx shutting down its service and coinbase being priced very high which other service do you use?
I am using cryptotapia since I start trading because it has less fee and no KYC needed. Choosing an good exchange is an advantage for a good trading and will help you to do more because you're familiar with the exchange. Sometimes due to the price spike or anything that is related to the causes the fall of bitcoin where are not using an exchange that has only few users unlike famous exchange like Binance where there's always a user that is active to observe the prices to tell the others. 
Time to time the name of exchanges keep changing because in recent days many new exchanges were evolved but Binance looks the best of all for now.So everyone literally using centralized exchange until now since they are getting satisfied experience than DEX.
Don't trade in new and low volume exchange because there are fewer chances for you to execute your order. If you look at the higher volumes exchange almost most of the potential coins listed there which will help you to buy and sell them on the profit you made on that coin. Not only we should about the coin we should also look for higher volume generating exchange like Binance, Upbit etc.
There are a lot of bitcoin exchanges that you can use because there are a lot of new exchanges that are very convenient for you to use and has low fees like polyneix and bittrex. But i mostly prefer exchanges that has a security features that can protect all of my assets from hackers like Bittreo, the worlds most advance trading platform where it supports different currency such as fiat and cryptocurrencies that can also easily help you to exchange your fiats into bitcoin and vice versa. I use CoinDeal now and it's even better today than ever because it lowers fees for addresses beginning with bc1... (native segwit, bech32).
I am so far just use my local exchange for trading. because i dont have credit card or USD to exchange my crypto. even my local exchange never got any problem for withdraw and deposit, it is fine for me. i dont care about big fee when exchange have good reputation.

It is here that all the cryptocurrency can be exchanged and the crypto can be stored securely. And when the price increases, it is more beneficial to sell. So I used Coinbase for exchange of Bitcoin from my favorite place.
Though I'm not using this site but I heard a lot of good reviews on this site and they have a good volume.
Maybe some are not using it as they require users to undergo the KYC before they can use the exchange, other exchanges like binance offers no KYC policy.

The only exchange I use is Coinbase, but if otherwise I believe it’s sensible to go for direct trading, which can be very helpful for us and can reward us as well. I personally feel that a good Crypto Broker is beautiful for us and bring us some great benefits too and also the much needed comfort. But yes, the idea is to ensure that we join up on right one not any random. The reason I feel this is better instead of exchanges is that it’s where we don’t get stuck.

Last year was very difficult for the cryptocurrency market and many exchanges went bankrupt. therefore, I am wary of all the exchanges. The most reliable in my opinion are the decentralized exchanges, but they are not very popular yet. I choose from centralized exchanges - binance and bittrex.
