I will suggest that you will chose a long-term coin that has a good platform and will be used by millions of people, I will recommend 4NEW(Kwatt coin) this is for long-term basis you are going to hold an electricity here but it's tokenized, all people in the world are using electricity for a living imagine if all people will use Kwatt coin? think of the possibilities, we all know that blockchain is the future and Kwatt will be the number 1 currency to be used for electricity

It is a master-node coin and you need 250k tokens for master-node.
Trade token (TIO) - still undervalued. Credits (CS) - I'm interested in this because of its transaction speed and scale. EOS - currently hot one, but have to be aware that 80% of the coins is in just a few wallets. I'm sure it'll be expensive to buy in right now but it's worth watching.

About Ripple holders there's bad and good news on it. There's someone that is an XRP whale that holds $500 Million in total of it but sadly he died with an heart attack. That can be a coin burning for XRP holders if that guy didn't wrote a last will for accessing that fund.
I will suggest you do a proper research about coin on the top 20 in the coinmarketcap and then decide on the ones you will like to invest. It is good tp invest in stable and potential coin that can yield enough profit when you hold them.
Always consider that this space is volatile, so 'safe' here can mean dangerous somewhere else. NEO is nice because sitting in the neon wallet it accrues GAS. Looking into some small caps like HBZ makes sense because in a big bull run, you could see x10-x50 gains.
