I would say Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple. BTC is the king of the cryptos, ETH allows decentralized applications, XPR is the fastest, most scalable digital asset for payments. Their value fluctuates, but I believe in them.
With long-term trading, you should choose a coin which has a great potential. We know as BTC and ETH are great for long-term investment. Both of these coins continue to experience growth and many people are doing transactions using BTC and ETH.
I agree with you completely.I would like to add Litecoin as well. Ripple could be good in long term also.
Now the price of all altcoins is low.I think dash and nano are good for long term investment.Now the price of Dash is reduced to $ 144.So it is better to hold two or three years.When the price of the dash increases the higher the profit.

i would invest my portfolio for the next 3 -5 years: 40% BTC,20% ETH,20% NEO ,10% LTC and then distribute the rest to a few top 20 tokens. i don't trust the new token yet. you have to be very careful with new tokens.
I think good altcoins that we hold in the long run, for us, ethereum, bitcoin, litecoin, Nxt, and NEO. because that is also the good way we get in the long run.

Only few tokens are good for longterm and you ne3d to take a lot of research about the token that yoy wanted to hold for longterm like 5 to 10 years because you will not know what are really possible to happen to the token that you buy.
Ideal for Ethereum is a cryptocurrency for the future, she is already showing great results. And what will happen in 5 years.

Based on my experience the number 1 coin for long term investment is bitcoin because that coin has a lot of potential than any coins in the market , it is the most popular so everyone in this industry will try to have an investment with it.
The best choice lays on bitcoin and ethereum for long term investment. And that would be good adding one more coin, that should be stable and has potential in the near future. I think BNB covers those criteria, it's an exchanger token, so I doubt that it won't be useful.
Everytime I hear coins for long term investment, two cryptos come in my mind which is ethereum and Bitcoin. Among other cryptos, these coins are having a continuous price increase which can be observed from their market value way back 3 years ago. Investing into these cryptos has a huge chance to result into big profit especially when the increase takes place this year.
Choose the coins which are in top 10 in terms of market cap. But best option for now is ETH. And now is the best time to invest because the price is very down. Other options is XRP as it also have the potential and ability to survive the market.
No doubt that Ethereum have the utility and greatness which is good for long term investment but the Ripple you mentioned does not have the ability, capacity and the greatness of a long term investment because it have never make any huge bullish for years. However, the coin is centralized in nature and this is the reason why most of crypto currency community don't support it.
