Long term coins, which i also recommend many others to have, are bitcoins and ethereum and neo. First, btc and eth will continue to raise in values while neo is amazing at generating passive return which is gas.
Wow, 5-10 years!! I think there are very few tokens that would last that long. I would mainly bet on Steem, ETH, Golem, Neo, EOS, Rush coins (Hashrush) etc.
You are correct. If you want to go for long time investing and no worry to always check the value, then go for Bitcoin. I believe there will be a of struggles and issue that will come its way, but BTC can manage. Good things will always be faced by struggles. Why so many people speak about waves? I don't understand this coin.

The first one comes to mind is of course waves. Honestly i don’t see any reason for waves to fail. It is great project that one surely reach it’s potential and i know people behind waves is working hard to make agreements and make it much more useful than it is now so waves is the right option if you are interested in long term investment.
I suppose bright future will have BTC, ETH, NEO and Monero. Plus some kind of crypto marketplace like SAFEX, Syscoin or Soma or something that doesn't exist yet.
ETH, Litecoin and NEo i think. Thea re the most famous after BTC and perspective
Litecoin and ethereum can help you with that, ethereum has shown stability since it it started growing with bitcoin

I think there will be a real shift towards tokens that have real intrinsic value. Furthermore, I think that the real decentralisation revolution will take place in sectors that are currently government influenced, such as energy and healthcare - i.e. what we will see is a massive boom in these sectors due to deregulation and at the same time decentralisation.
The sectors are also so large that they can accommodate and take over from current coins easily - and then there is real intrinsic value.
The most promising are projects such as Prosume - real business, real team.
I'm holding waves for long term plan. I'm planning to add ethereum to this plan after reading some nice comments from more experienced users in this thread.
Add BTC and sell everything else. 95% of old alts will die in year or two. And nobody know which one of them will rise.

Byteball. There is no scaling issue and hardly any attention. This coin can easily 10x within a year or two.
Don't tell me about ByteBall. After last airdrop it will drop down and die.The best solution to longterm is BTC.
I have Ethereum and waves in my long-term portfolio. I really think that one of those two will make me very happy about my decision about them.
Eth, litcoin and Bitcoin. These are the only current coins which are going to be worth holding onto. I think out of all of them Bitcoin is the one to hold onto and possibly eth as that's having some great news coverage right now.

I invest XRP long term, and is considering to add another one.
I would say we should always consider top 20 Alt coins for Long-term investment & We should do our own research well before going for long term holding with any alt coin. Here is my list of long term investment coins: Waves, Xrp, Deeponion, Ltc, Lsk, Stratis, Dash, Xmr, Iota Etc.
