if I were in your shoes, I will choose both because put eggs in one basket is risky, I will invest 40% in Bitcoin and 60% in some altcoins at least I will choose min.8 of the top 50 altcoins in CMC

I will not choose between the two. because each of them has advanced development to make the market more and more and more progressive. for Altcoin is more often beneficial in the short term, while Bitcoin is better for the long term. both of which have an important role in the development of more advanced in the future.

This is more advisable for you to hold about 70% of your cryptocurrencies holding in bitcoin and 30% in up-to 10 altcoins. Bitcoin drive the market therefore whatever happens to bitcoin do happen to all the coins in the market. I think ethereum and litecoin is a must as this two determine the future of altcoins market.

Based on my own experienced the selection between Bitcoin and Altcoin will depends on our strategy of holding because as for me I will choose bitcoin for my long term holding since bitcoin is not so affordable and the Altcoin is for my short term holding or even for day trading Altcoin is more profitable.

To begin with investing only in bitcoin is a risky business, you should allocate risks and evenly invest in different altcoins and of course, in bitcoin too. This way you can potentially get more profit.

If you would be starting to invest now, you should try trading but you must have an extensive amount of experience in trading and understand the market movement so well. Be very cautious when trading during downtrend as it may expose you to higher risk.

I think as a long term investment you'd better consider one of the top 10 coins. However, lately there seem to be more and more altcoins that are less and less depending on Bitcoin's course. That could be a good sign, since more people are discovering other interesting crypto projects.

If you're going to invest in altcoins better know it first if it's really has potential. Or you can invest in both put some quantity to alts then put some to bitcoin. It's better not to put everything in one basket.

It depends on amount of your asset and how risky it can be. Also, 3-4 month is really strict time period, so it can easily not to pan out.

In my opinion, for short term investing in altcoins is better than investing in Bitcoin. Since BTC is expensive, it's unlikely to get massive gains in a so short period of time. Instead, if you choose a cheap altcoin it's not impossible to obtain a 100% ROI or even more...

In my opinion, if its a short time investment, you can consider alternate coins. You can always buy low and sell high if yiu are planning ontrading it. Investing on ICO has a lot of ROI. Just do some research before investing you money on IC. For bitcoin, it will require a lot of time before earning money bot unless you have a huge capitalto play with.

As far as the statics goes and what have witnessed from my very own eyes, bitcoin has shown the most growth rate so far. It was able to touch 20k dollars from 8k dollars within weeks. Other than this, nobody can deny the fact that the whole market or most of the altcoins depend on bitcoin for gaining value and surviving in this crypto market. You can take example of the altcoin king. Eth has no life without BTC.

Bitcoin is a obvious first choice for all new investors. However, choosing altcoins requires research and understanding so do that starting with top altcoins. Making a quick buck with short term horizon is not easy until the market starting going up non-stop instead of present sideways chop.

i prefer for bitcoin, bitcoin already survive more than 7 years and you can see the history price from bitcoin there are always increase every year even i see now bitcoin develop not only about the price, but also about his community which increases every time with many users.
i don't know a lot about altcoin but perhaps some of them also are good for investment, i suggest if you want to invest on altcoin just pick 50 top coins, you can check it at coinmarketcap.com

I think it depends on how much you will invest. If in large quantities, of course bitcoin be the best choice. But if your capital is limited, look for cheap coins with good growth.

For short-time planning investment, i do will put on altcoin.
1. Altcoin has many available coins in the market
2. Some coins has cheap price rates and good stats increasing recovery price such as Cardano, NEO, etc.
3. Since you are planning it to short-term time, so put your invest into some potential altcoin project that has been established around 1 year usually has great rocketing price.

You should invest in altcoins as a newbie, bitcoin does not give a lot of profit but you can double your money with altcoins if you can choose good ones. Bitcoin is also very speculative.

In investing certainly dividing money into different types of investments is safer and more profitable, and I will divide 30% for bitcoin and the rest for altcoin.
