Yes, bitwala provide users private keys which they didn't have any copy of it but there wallet seems easy to use but it somehow not security safe to me.

I haven't used bitwala, how can you say that bitwala isn't safe if they are providing their users to have their very own private keys? In what aspect of their service they are lack of security? I used few wallets like, blockchain.info and xapo but I left xapo since it has high fees now. If you want to be safer you had to spend some and invest with hardware wallets like nano ledger s and trezor. But for cheaper but intact security, desktop wallets are good.

blockchain.info is the safest web-wallet in my opinion, it has the advantage that you have control over your private keys. But the safest way to store Bitcoins for long-term is a paper wallet. It's easy to create and the risk of losing your coins is really low when you create it using the the correct security measures, you can find a guide here: https://www.weusecoins.com/bitcoin-cold-storage-guide/.
I've been using blockchain.info for several months or years (I guess) and I can say that this is one of the trusted one and many are treating it as their very own bank.

But I don't advise anyone to treat it as your very own bank, just like tamango do, it's better to have a nano ledger s or trezor for your safekeeping.

Mycellium and electrum is also a good choice for desktop wallets they are few of the trusted and popular bitcoin wallets.

You're right, desktop wallets are a better choice then web-wallets to keep your funds safely. However a lot of people like a wallet that is easy to create and is accessible from everywhere. So for that aspect, blockchain.info does the job the best. I have no idea how Mycellium works but I don't think it's a really safe option to hold your funds when you use it as a portable device, because your funds could get easily stolen when you connect to malicious WiFi networks.

Blockchain is good wallet it would allow the VPN to verify in the time of login and it have two factor authentication too but if you login to the wallet by surfing in Google results means you may find the fake site same like blockchain. I personally some of the people who lost their money like that in last year. I do use it and I found some little funds still stagnated in the wallet. I hope you can go with the Coinbase wallet since it is secured and you can sell your bitcoin on their same exchange too when you needed.
Hardware wallet and all does not need to keep your wallet safe. You just have your private key and wallet.dat file without shared to anyone.

Blockchain is indeed a good web-wallet, I prefer it over Coinbase because it let's you be the owner of your own wallet keys. Coinbase doesn't have this feature, so you're theoretically not owning the funds that are stored on that wallet. I have never owned a hardware wallet but I heard it's a really safe way to store your cryptocurrencies. But personally I like to save them myself using an old device and a desktop wallet with lots of security features like Armory.

You need to tell your friend to wise up if he want's to use a online wallet. A lot of the online wallets won't allow you to know your private key so if the website ever goes down through DDOS or other attacks then you won't be able to access your Bitcoin.
Nope, no online wallet is 'safe', if you do not hold the private keys -  you do not control or own the coin.

Also, I lost an account on blockchain.info, no longer there but the BTC still shows.. another story there..

Bitwala gives you the private keys, in fact, they don't store any keys, for security reasons. So if you lose your keys it's gone because they won't be able to help you with this.

Most online wallet services for bitcoin are now safe. They are competing and trying to perfect their product. I like Coinbase and Blockchain.

Both of them are old and secured comparatively. Always ensure that for any wallet you have activated 2 factor Authorization . This is the most compulsory part of any online wallet to be more secured and safe. Always split the btc among different wallets if you own some big qty of btc else its fine to keep in 1 wallet only.

I have ledger nano s but a friend of mine doesn't have and want to buy some bitcoins. He asked me what ONLINE wallet (no ANDROID) is more safe......
what do you think?

Blockchain is a good and safe online wallet and many people also use this wallet to stored their bitcoins here, you also can stored Ethereum too in this wallet. I also use this wallet and i never had an issue or problem so far until now. Everything is smooth and it's simple and easy. Just go try to register first on blockchain OP, i'm sure it will be good for you.

I disagree. If you insist on using an online wallet, the only one I can recommend is GreenAddress. There are a number of problems with Blockchain.info -- not open source, bad privacy, inability to custom select UTXOs, no RBF, no CPFP, no Segwit.

Personally, I'm annoyed that Blockchain.info implemented Ethereum and is now implementing Bcash before they upgrade to Segwit. I'm seeing new threads everyday from frustrated Blockchain.info users who have stuck transactions. They should at least add RBF so that users can easily bump fees (like they can in Electrum).

They are safe as long as they function without any problems.

If you make use of an online wallet service where you don't have access to your private keys, you depend on them to keep operating without any problems in order to always be able to access your coins.

If you for example use Coinbase, which is a service that doesn't give people access to their private keys, and they for whatever reason suffer from technical difficulties for a couple of days, you can only hope for the best.

If you would have had the private keys, even if that service remained offline for weeks, you would always be able to move your coins back and forth. It's something very important, but people seem to ignore that.

I also tried MyEtherWallet
MyEtherWallet isn't a Bitcoin wallet.

blockchain . info is a good one. Well done for not thinking about Android. Love Android, but hey, friends separate, money separate.

No private keys=no bitcoins. Personally, I created a wallet sometime back to see how it looks and I don't find it so user-friendly and a bit confusing. (but that's just a personal opinion)

Regular phishing attacks on users using blockchain.info, making them prone to losing their Bitcoin. If you know you have bad web and cyber security habits, using blockchain.info or even ELECTRUM.

If you don't know how to store your Bitcoin properly (encrypting your wallet with a password isn't doing so), then use Coinbase with 2FA, a multisig wallet, or a hardware wallet.

Coinbase is insured and a registered financial institution. If you have enough money to be concerned about its safety, you have enough money to buy a hardware wallet.
Its really all about on ones negligence when it comes to security aspect either on blockchain or electrum wallets because if you don't really have too much attention regarding on security matters then most of the time or theres really a high chance that you would really lose up those precious bitcoins if you are really careless. Regarding on choosing up between blockchain and electrum. I would rather choose electrum since I do feel it much more safer as long you do know how to clean up your pc then you are just fine.

For a long time I used Xapo, as is usual in many people who started a couple of years ago in the world of the faucets. While it is true that I have not suffered major problems with that wallet, the fact of not having the private keys during the BitcoinCash hardfork made me think about migrating to another wallet, and now I am using Electrum with great satisfaction.
