Windows kernel works on every machine, even older ones.

Linux distros hiccup on less known/old hardware.

In the recent year I had two cases where Linux falls flat on unknown hardware.
But it's free of course, for some it's hard to beat.

That's because the vast majority of manufacturers only support Windows...

That said, it will continue to be a damn fine OS to use under a virtual machine.

Did you try WIN 8?

I'm using Windows 7 as my main entertainment system because it just works.

But when security becomes a major concern, only Linux based systems are used.

XP is good when it is fresh, but in couple of months it gets many bugs and it is slow. Win 8 is the bes OS, requires less resources than any other windows OS

Ubuntu is a waste of one's finite life. Buggy, broken support for many devices, exploitable, half-made, unpleasant to use, terrible community.

That said, I use and love one of it's derivatives: Mint.

i agree with that, i tried it once and never again for sure

I use DBAN on every new computer, just to wipe it clean, and also on old drives, before I re-purpose them. I just use the quick wipe, no need for anything more than 1 pass.

Hey, how's Linux Mint (debian or not) ? I've been planning to install it, just haven't had the courage to do so. hehehehe. I mean, what can be worse than running DBAN on your computers drive, it's just data.

What's DBAN?
