Hi everyone,

I believe I've found the holy grail on USB hubs for miners. Orico makes a 10 port USB 2.0 hub (P10-U2), but never advertises is. I just got in contact with my rep, and will be placing a very large order on them. Cost is going to be significantly lower than any other hub on the list on the front of the page. The PSU is 12v/3a, and is a spitting image of the P10-U3 (which ranges in price from $50 - $65 online).

I should be able to sell them for between $25 - $30 USD including shipping. I am planning on buying at least 100 of them to save a little money on shipping to me (which is likely going to cost about $3 - 5 per unit).

I haven't seen anyone else mention this hub, so I thought I'd speak up. I've had great success with Orico, since they're the ones behind the major favorites like Anker and Satechi.

I told you about this hub. I buy 5 piees for me yesterday and say you about this model.

the most usb's ive been able to run on these is 7

12v 3A = 36W

assume about 50% internal losses = 18W stable

2.5w per erupter = 7.2 devices

If you daisy chain then you will loose 2 ports, still not bad for the price.

My BEs have evolved to this:

The array consists of 70 devices with daisy-chained hubs hosted by a single USB 2.0 port on an old netbook that's running Windows 7 x86.  A BFL device is also in the mix (the netbook didn't like hosting it separately on its remaining available USB ports) and works just fine.  I decided to populate each hub with only 5 BEs, loading their respective 4A power bricks (which theoretically supports up to 8 BEs) at about 62.5% in an attempt to be within the peak efficiency envelope (around 50% load).  The array is mounted and fits nicely on a 9"x12" clear plastic clipboard.  The netbook draws 11W off the wall (120V AC) while mining.

Where do you get a good PSU for these?  I have one and the psu that came with it is a POS!

Interesting that it comes with a 12V adapter, yet is a 2.0 hub.
Here's the official pge for it:

Sounds real nice I'm interested if it happens you should post in the Marketplace Goods board.

You have said that this is all running off a netbook. Question: Does the netbook get hot running 24/7? I was gonna use an old laptop and thought  it would get too hot.

Intel Atom chips were designed to be low-power and run much cooler than standard laptop CPUs in the first place.  Of course, it also depends on the design of the enclosure and cooling system.  Another source of heat within a confined netbook/laptop enclosure/case is the HDD.  My old netbook had a 7200 RPM HDD which runs a little hotter than a 5400 RPM spinner.  I've since replaced it with an SSD to further reduce heat buildup.  The netbook host also sits on a cooler with a 200mm fan in it.  It has been running very cool while mining.  I run two instances of BFGMiner; one for BE and one for BFL.

I ran with 5 each for a few months.  Even with only 2 I will see them fail as described at this point.  Only the C1 models tho.

1. They do get tired after heavy use, try testing the voltage at the usb ports(with a multimeter) with 2 sticks pluged in, then 3 ............

2. I have blown 3 psus on my 10 port hubs over the last few months.

3. Buy a new hub.

Just bought 2 of these hubs and they are giving me lots of problems so far....what am i doing wrong?

Can you be more specific? What is the 5V rating of your PSU? My 25A can power 3 of these hubs. Calculate 0.6A per BE to be on the safe side, by the way.
Have you read through this: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.3195744
Remember not to plug a miner into the 4th port from the left (so, max 12 BEs).

@dentldir: I have 10 units of B1 (black models). Running 7 BEs on external ATX PSU power with no problems. Might be that C1's had some lower-grade electronics that starts getting burnt out...

I think there is a hub missing in the list, only the ultimate hub!

Here is a copy of my post:

Looking to power all your Block Erupters in your PC?  We have the solution at WTCR.

A tried, tested, and true hub solution with the lowest possible cost-per-port.

Utilizes your PC's power supply for it's 5v.  Powered with a floppy connector but includes a molex to floppy adapter.

Running for weeks stable with all 13 ports populated with Block Erupters, it's safe to say these are the best hubs around.

Got some CM Stackers lying around at home?  Fill up all the bays with Block Erupters!

Questions?  Simply email [email protected] or inquire through our website.

Resellers?  These are an excellent item to include with bundles of USBs as all Block Erupters need a hub!

Connect to the usb2 ports on your host, not usb3. and plug in your sticks one at a time, they may be 13 port hubs but not all may be working.
Erupters need 2.5w 550mA "STABLE" power each. Not all PC psu's are capable of this.

So after months of stable operation on the D-Link 7 Port USB 2.0 hubs, I have to report that every model C1 hub I own has started giving comm errors in cgminer.  Eventually, all the ports start giving only comm errors and the miner has to be restarted.  Seen on both RPi and a PC.

I tried feeding power to the C1's from a PC power supply, running them with the case off and with a fan on the hub, and various combinations of ports and sticks.  Same result.  Eventually, all sticks give in to comm errors and stop mining.

The problem started slow and I had to restart the miner every few days.  Eventually it started happening more often and gradually got worse.

Interestingly enough, the one model B1 hub I own has zero problems and is mining just fine.

I'd be interested if anyone else is seeing the same problems with the D-Link hubs.  For now, I've switched back to my Sabrent hubs which don't have the same density as the D-Links.  No problems seen with the BE's themselves on different hubs.

How many erupters are you using, D-link 7 port hubs become unstable with more than 5 sticks (psu limits)

I noticed that some of the poweradapters I use for the usb hubs (2x Dlink DUB H7, 3x Rosewill 10 ports) are getting pretty warm. Not extreme but do you think it would help to put a fan on/blow towards the poweradapters? just to cool them a little..

Miner Setup And Reviews. WASP Rep.
Has anyone found a good Anker style hub that fits the depth of the Bitfury USBs?

Right now I have 4 Red Fury USBs in a 7 port aluminum Anker hub and they fit perfectly but it kills me to not be able to use the other 3 slots, lol.

I'd really like something with a similar style to the aluminum, squarish Ankers... no plastic or sleek design.  Smiley
can you fit extension cords in the other slots?

Yes, but barely.  And I'd rather not have cords hanging out all over, lol.  Seems a lot of us USB miner guys like a neat look.  Wink

Did I see somewhere that BPMC was going to start selling those nice aluminum hubs that they were using themselves?
We are considering it. But it would depend on what people are willing to pay and how much interest we see.
