Gambling at work comes with a lot of disadvantages than than the advantages and that's why it's absolutely unsafe for anyone to gamble at work because the chances of losing focus from work is very likely to happen and when it happens, the gambler will lose a lot of money if his kind of work happens to be a self-employed work or sacked if he's hired.
For instance, when you gamble and lose money, you'll want to gamble more to recover your money and at that particular time, you'll waste more time than you've earlier wanted to use in gambling which will definitely affect your work

First, thanks for sharing your story. Gambling can damage our wallets, mental health, and careers. Gambling has high stakes, especially with hard-earned money. Our obsessive desire to recover losses distracts us from job, family, and other obligations. When we win, we often gamble again to win more. That rarely happens, leaving us in a vicious loop, as you noted.

Is the brief excitement of gambling worth the long-term stress? Im interested in everyone's stories. Have you managed to keep gambling casual or does it constantly spiral? Its tricky, right? Would like more community stories.

I don’t experience this personally but imagining doing this is really a disaster. Gambling alone will makes you out on a terrible mental and financial state while doing this at work amplifies the risk since you can lose your job at the same time while you lose your money on gambling.

There’s no way to do this on my work since we cctv camera to monitor all our work but even we have cameras to watch. I will definitely don’t do it since my job is important to me while you already mention what’s the effect of gambling to our performances since we are focus on our game. You’re still lucky that you still have your work tho. Maybe gambling is not for you since you are bringing it to your work already which is a clear sign of addiction.

At first I tried slots, within a few weeks I was working while in other side, I am playing slots. And I have same experience, my performance getting decreased, because I spend most of my time paying attention to the movement of the reel. Even though we can leave the reel alone by minimizing the tab/window, there is a feeling of not wanting to miss reel by reel by waiting for luck, be it free spins or connected symbol combos. I can do this, because my job is as a freelancer and work from home. Maybe, if I worked in an office, I wouldn't dare try to open anything other than work requirements. Especially if I use office inventory (laptop/desktop). So, there is any possibility for me to experience a decline in our work performance because focus too much on slots.

I personally don't want to try gambling while I'm working, because I know it will disturb my focus while working, so I have a separate schedule for gambling, namely on weekends when I enjoy my leisure time with my family and also make time to gamble for a few hours. on weekends, after all it wouldn't be fun to gamble at work because we could be fired due to a decline in our work performance.

So it's best to never do that and you can also be an example for others here, including me, at work focus on working, because when we are busy working of course it will also eliminate our desire to gamble, I have experienced the feeling of wanting to gamble. while working but I thought it would just make me unfocused in the end, so I didn't do it.  Grin

It's really risky to gamble at workplace, even you're really bored since you don't have any activity, you must not gamble or doing anything that somewhat give a bad impression for other people. I'm not sure how discipline and toxic your workplace, but most of companies in my country don't like to see their employee play their phones. Playing at workplace looks not professional and many people don't happy with that.

It is not difficult to gamble at work if we take in consideration that using your mobile is allowed in your company.Even if they restrict you which websites you can access as long as you have a dual sim phone and have a personal sim number beside the work one no one can restrict you which websites you browse through 4G/5G mobile data of your personal sim card.

I do just that,I play with my mobile but I have noticed that every time I play in work when people are in the next offices I have an immense amount of bad luck that is why I only place my sport bets most of the time during office hours rather than gambling massively,I like playing more in the comfort of my home where luck is a bit better.

I have never done it in the workplace. Inside the company office. I think that's just wrong.
But today that I am working in my house I do it. And I can relate with you especially if we are the only ones shouldering the expenses of the whole family. Mortgage, electric bill, water bill, Internet, daily necessities food, etc...
You cannot risk your money just to try and double it but I did it once and it's not actually the money needed, it's like a spare that I somehow got from another job. I used it to gamble and tried to double the amount, it was successful but then the gambling site started getting it all back until zero. I can say it is really stressful and I have a hard time thinking straight about my work so I just took the rest and said to my manager that I ain't feeling good. Luckily, he accepted my reason and the next day I made sure that I would finish all my job first before gambling.
We need that discipline to adjust or else we will starve.

I'm a gambler myself, but I have to say it's a risky approach when it comes to juggling it with your job. It's not just about the risk of getting caught, because most gamblers are pretty good at avoiding that. The real issue is when you're not fully focused on your work because you're busy gambling. In that case, you're breaking company rules because you're getting paid to do a job that you're not giving your full attention to.

Of course, the company's rules matter too. If they're lenient, then most employees might end up spending their work time on personal stuff, which is a loss of the company's investment. Imagine getting paid while you're gambling – that might sound great for you, but it's not fair to your employer.

Maybe if you're a high-level executive and your job isn't robotic, like when you're mostly monitoring, you can probably sneak in a little gambling. But be sure not to let it consume you or make you ineffective. Your primary role at work should always take priority.

Gambling while doing your job can make you unable to work well. This will cause you to lose focus at work and your boss may get angry when he finds out you are gambling. And maybe your boss will say you are addicted to gambling because you can't differentiate between free and work time. If this is the case, maybe your boss will fire you because you are addicted to gambling and as a result, you will lose your job. That means you will not get your usual salary and have difficulty finding a new job.

So if you want to avoid experiencing it, you should not gamble while working. After all, you have more time to gamble at home. And you will only be bothered by people if you gamble in your house or room.

You will get weaker in everything financially around you when you put your whole heart into gambling, this isn't about you losing your job only, even if you are the company or business owner gambling can still affect you badly, your first mistake is gambling at work and if your work is all about skills and concentration it will surely affect you.

Some people like abusing gambling because of its accessibility everywhere, we now have smartphones that you can use for gambling at any location, but it's wrong, it's not safe and it's also a distraction, I would rather go inside my lonely space and gamble than going to work and start gambling, it's not as if you will win at work better than home.

Also, gambling shouldn't take much time, maybe an hour max but when you start gambling for a long period it means you are getting addicted to gambling slowly, there is time for everything, time to work, and time for fun, always take this into account.

You also need to take into account the fact that gaming at work can be noticed by your boss since you are using a local network, and it is quite easy to determine what the employee is doing during working hours. What will follow? I think there is no need to predict. Therefore, if you come to work, try to do it responsibly, because nowadays, finding an office job, although it may seem like a boring task, is much better than using physical labor.
Finding office job in my country tis very hard. Many people that saw office job are low pay. Physical job has also not been that better, but people that are richer are connected to their own work.

Another thing is that it is wrong to use office/public computer to be gambling or for other things other than for office work. What I think more about this is that some gamblers that are addicts can still use their phone to gamble in anywhere they are.

Gambling while working shows how messed up your gambling habits are, you actually can't control your tendency to gamble even in a place that won't give you comfort.

I don't think we should first think about the negative effects in work relationships, I mean between you and your boss or coworkers. As effects on yourself, it will threaten your position as an employee or disrupt your professionalism status in the eyes of others.

I think everybody who is into online gambling must have experienced gambling while at work or at school or doing something else. The good, or bad, thing about online gambling is that you can get on with it while you're also on to something else. You can easily include it in your multitasking.

Gambling has never been more convenient. You can do it even while you're traveling, eating, studying, working, and so on. Moderating gambling has never been more challenging. I'm just thankful that I am not that addicted to it. As somebody who doesn't have savings surplus, I can't afford to be easily swayed by the attractions of gambling.

this is the problem in our day now , in the past there are lot of gamblers that sneak from work to go in casino to gamble, but nowadays?
even while sitting in our chair in office  we can simply gamble using online specially with crypto in our wallet.
so I think many people can relate on you mate though I am not.
because I only gamble after office hours or mostly in weekend when there is no working day.

Gambling has become incredibly accessible, whether it's on your computer or your cellphone; it's just a click away. I suspect that office computers are being monitored, so it's not a safe place to indulge in gambling. Our cellphones offer a bit more privacy in this regard. However, the impact on our focus remains the same, and that's not fair to the company we work for. I can't say for sure if I've ever tried gambling at the office, but if I did, I'm pretty certain it didn't affect my job significantly. After all, I was only playing for pennies, and I never aimed to win big. That said, I do feel a tad guilty for not utilizing my time more productively with my team.

I'd like to share my experience with you all. Even though I'm not currently employed, I went through a phase of gambling while I was working in the past, and the outcome wasn't positive. It affected my job performance because, as you may know, when you lose, you tend to dwell on your losses and constantly think about strategies to win. When we talk about work, it usually means we're not particularly wealthy, and imagine what happens when we gamble money we can't afford to lose, especially when we're not earning much.

Let me tell you, the feeling is far from pleasant. It leads to a decline in your work performance, which can have significant consequences since that's your primary source of income. It might be manageable if you're winning, but the harsh reality is often quite the opposite. Even when we do win, we tend to spend most of our winnings, so we don't treat it as business money. This leaves us in a precarious situation when we lose because the money we initially budgeted for our families gets diverted to cover unexpected gambling-related expenses.

I'd like to hear from those of you who have experienced this or are still dealing with it. Please share your testimonies.

There is a need to place boundaries in our life activities to avoid misuse of our time. But sometimes you will be tempted to check your phone to check your games in sports bets. In some cases, I have seen some of my colleagues secretly go to the restroom where there are no CCTV cameras to place bets which is against work ethics. But l I have seen cases when an employee unconsciously screamed in the banking hall while performing his duties because he lost a bet. It was quite embarrassing and I know he would be sanctioned for that.  Some employees can be sacked because they use work time for gambling and it affects their job performance.

I work in an organisation where you are not permitted to use your phones at the workplace not even during breaks. So I have been spared the temptation of placing bets in my office. But I prefer gambling during weekends when I am in a comfortable and relaxed mood.  This will increase concentration and reduce hasty bets. The best way to deal with such abnormal behaviour is to stay away from phones and plan your gambling time.

I have to say that those who are gambling at work are people who cant manage their time well. Working time should be used wisely, to focus on the work only but I wont deny that I have done it before because I was so bored with what I do in my office. I realize that it is a mistake and I do not do it again till now to avoid something bad with my career. Better to manage our gambling time, gamble when we have free time only, time when we have nothing to do at all. Time is priceless especially when it comes with our family, job, or relationship.
It's quite the contrary because if you can gamble at your work and you can still do your work, that can only mean that you have the ability to multitask which also means that you have a way or a system where you can do multiple task at a time. But I'm not saying that my opinion is right as there's always other that don't have the ability to focus on stuff at multiple angles. Regarding respecting your working time, I think that it's a matter of perspective, if you're paid below minimum in your work, I don't think that it's in your best interest to waste all of it working, there's going to down times in your work and if your loyalty doesn't equate to a higher pay, why put a lot of effort? But I digress, we should still respect that we are doing something outside of our normal working duties so when you're gambling during work, it's always important to remember to prioritize work before gambling.

I have many friends at workplace betting on football matches at workplace. They generally do it through their mobile phones as office doesn't have strict rules. We generally discuss possible results of weekend matches when we are out on break time for like 15 minutes. Its something fun to do on break time. Many people go out to smoke anyways. Its generally far better experience to discuss gambling than do something unhealthy. I believe gambling/betting at working hours is not something cool tho.

It's the same with me although it's mostly basketball matches and DOTA2 tournaments, they're even trying to make me get into their betting games to put in some money but I don't really like betting on those plus the odds are not that high and the way they analyze which team to bet on is subpar and who's got a higher odds which is a recipe for disaster in my opinion.

Consider yourself lucky if that's the only concern you have when you're gambling at work. Because even if you lose your money in gambling at least you still have a work to compensate those losses.
But in my previous company, once you get caught doing other activities on your computer or cellphone deliberately during office hours, there will be a huge possibility that you'll get fired immediately. Gambling was a big no no for that company, pretty sure if you get caught you'll gonna lose the very source of your income. So, what's worst? Lol.
I was surprised your company allows it? Or you're hiding away while doing it? If so, it's not gonna be enjoyable that way.
