You will get weaker in everything financially around you when you put your whole heart into gambling, this isn't about you losing your job only, even if you are the company or business owner gambling can still affect you badly, your first mistake is gambling at work and if your work is all about skills and concentration it will surely affect you.

Some people like abusing gambling because of its accessibility everywhere, we now have smartphones that you can use for gambling at any location, but it's wrong, it's not safe and it's also a distraction, I would rather go inside my lonely space and gamble than going to work and start gambling, it's not as if you will win at work better than home.

Also, gambling shouldn't take much time, maybe an hour max but when you start gambling for a long period it means you are getting addicted to gambling slowly, there is time for everything, time to work, and time for fun, always take this into account.

You also need to take into account the fact that gaming at work can be noticed by your boss since you are using a local network, and it is quite easy to determine what the employee is doing during working hours. What will follow? I think there is no need to predict. Therefore, if you come to work, try to do it responsibly, because nowadays, finding an office job, although it may seem like a boring task, is much better than using physical labor.
Finding office job in my country tis very hard. Many people that saw office job are low pay. Physical job has also not been that better, but people that are richer are connected to their own work.

Another thing is that it is wrong to use office/public computer to be gambling or for other things other than for office work. What I think more about this is that some gamblers that are addicts can still use their phone to gamble in anywhere they are.

Gambling while working shows how messed up your gambling habits are, you actually can't control your tendency to gamble even in a place that won't give you comfort.

I don't think we should first think about the negative effects in work relationships, I mean between you and your boss or coworkers. As effects on yourself, it will threaten your position as an employee or disrupt your professionalism status in the eyes of others.

I think everybody who is into online gambling must have experienced gambling while at work or at school or doing something else. The good, or bad, thing about online gambling is that you can get on with it while you're also on to something else. You can easily include it in your multitasking.

Gambling has never been more convenient. You can do it even while you're traveling, eating, studying, working, and so on. Moderating gambling has never been more challenging. I'm just thankful that I am not that addicted to it. As somebody who doesn't have savings surplus, I can't afford to be easily swayed by the attractions of gambling.

this is the problem in our day now , in the past there are lot of gamblers that sneak from work to go in casino to gamble, but nowadays?
even while sitting in our chair in office  we can simply gamble using online specially with crypto in our wallet.
so I think many people can relate on you mate though I am not.
because I only gamble after office hours or mostly in weekend when there is no working day.

Gambling has become incredibly accessible, whether it's on your computer or your cellphone; it's just a click away. I suspect that office computers are being monitored, so it's not a safe place to indulge in gambling. Our cellphones offer a bit more privacy in this regard. However, the impact on our focus remains the same, and that's not fair to the company we work for. I can't say for sure if I've ever tried gambling at the office, but if I did, I'm pretty certain it didn't affect my job significantly. After all, I was only playing for pennies, and I never aimed to win big. That said, I do feel a tad guilty for not utilizing my time more productively with my team.

I'd like to share my experience with you all. Even though I'm not currently employed, I went through a phase of gambling while I was working in the past, and the outcome wasn't positive. It affected my job performance because, as you may know, when you lose, you tend to dwell on your losses and constantly think about strategies to win. When we talk about work, it usually means we're not particularly wealthy, and imagine what happens when we gamble money we can't afford to lose, especially when we're not earning much.

Let me tell you, the feeling is far from pleasant. It leads to a decline in your work performance, which can have significant consequences since that's your primary source of income. It might be manageable if you're winning, but the harsh reality is often quite the opposite. Even when we do win, we tend to spend most of our winnings, so we don't treat it as business money. This leaves us in a precarious situation when we lose because the money we initially budgeted for our families gets diverted to cover unexpected gambling-related expenses.

I'd like to hear from those of you who have experienced this or are still dealing with it. Please share your testimonies.

There is a need to place boundaries in our life activities to avoid misuse of our time. But sometimes you will be tempted to check your phone to check your games in sports bets. In some cases, I have seen some of my colleagues secretly go to the restroom where there are no CCTV cameras to place bets which is against work ethics. But l I have seen cases when an employee unconsciously screamed in the banking hall while performing his duties because he lost a bet. It was quite embarrassing and I know he would be sanctioned for that.  Some employees can be sacked because they use work time for gambling and it affects their job performance.

I work in an organisation where you are not permitted to use your phones at the workplace not even during breaks. So I have been spared the temptation of placing bets in my office. But I prefer gambling during weekends when I am in a comfortable and relaxed mood.  This will increase concentration and reduce hasty bets. The best way to deal with such abnormal behaviour is to stay away from phones and plan your gambling time.

I have to say that those who are gambling at work are people who cant manage their time well. Working time should be used wisely, to focus on the work only but I wont deny that I have done it before because I was so bored with what I do in my office. I realize that it is a mistake and I do not do it again till now to avoid something bad with my career. Better to manage our gambling time, gamble when we have free time only, time when we have nothing to do at all. Time is priceless especially when it comes with our family, job, or relationship.
It's quite the contrary because if you can gamble at your work and you can still do your work, that can only mean that you have the ability to multitask which also means that you have a way or a system where you can do multiple task at a time. But I'm not saying that my opinion is right as there's always other that don't have the ability to focus on stuff at multiple angles. Regarding respecting your working time, I think that it's a matter of perspective, if you're paid below minimum in your work, I don't think that it's in your best interest to waste all of it working, there's going to down times in your work and if your loyalty doesn't equate to a higher pay, why put a lot of effort? But I digress, we should still respect that we are doing something outside of our normal working duties so when you're gambling during work, it's always important to remember to prioritize work before gambling.

I have many friends at workplace betting on football matches at workplace. They generally do it through their mobile phones as office doesn't have strict rules. We generally discuss possible results of weekend matches when we are out on break time for like 15 minutes. Its something fun to do on break time. Many people go out to smoke anyways. Its generally far better experience to discuss gambling than do something unhealthy. I believe gambling/betting at working hours is not something cool tho.

It's the same with me although it's mostly basketball matches and DOTA2 tournaments, they're even trying to make me get into their betting games to put in some money but I don't really like betting on those plus the odds are not that high and the way they analyze which team to bet on is subpar and who's got a higher odds which is a recipe for disaster in my opinion.

Consider yourself lucky if that's the only concern you have when you're gambling at work. Because even if you lose your money in gambling at least you still have a work to compensate those losses.
But in my previous company, once you get caught doing other activities on your computer or cellphone deliberately during office hours, there will be a huge possibility that you'll get fired immediately. Gambling was a big no no for that company, pretty sure if you get caught you'll gonna lose the very source of your income. So, what's worst? Lol.
I was surprised your company allows it? Or you're hiding away while doing it? If so, it's not gonna be enjoyable that way.

I have to say that those who are gambling at work are people who cant manage their time well.
Not everyone mate, if you put it that way, it should only be for people who are working for companies or establishments. For those who owns their own businesses, they can choose to gamble at their own time. When you are employed you are usually given task to do and most times you have 1 or 2 hours break which you have for lunch and other things but how can you gamble during this time.  It's still a good thing, to be able to minimize your gambling activities, during hours of work even though you own the business or are employed.
In general, gambling during work hours is against the rules, and most employees would likely face termination if they were caught doing so. Employees are vital tools in a company's operations, and if even one employee is distracted by gambling, it can significantly impact the company's overall performance. Each task contributes to the company's success, and if these tasks aren't done well, it's a problem.

We shouldn't justify gambling during work hours just because we think we can manage it alongside our job. That's not how it works. Employers implement preventive measures rather than seeking a cure. This is especially risky when you're responsible for handling financial matters.

I have to admit that I'm somewhat guilty of gambling at work too, but I've been lucky that our company isn't overly strict about enforcing these rules.

It is not gambling that is affecting you, what that is affecting you is gambling addiction. It can happen to you if you are working or not. What you can do to solve that is to look for ways to cease the addiction. Sometimes, you may have to quit gambling for sometimes for you to be back to a good habit of gambling.

Let me tell you, the feeling is far from pleasant. It leads to a decline in your work performance, which can have significant consequences since that's your primary source of income. That will be true because that is what gambling does to addicted people. It is you that need to have self-discipline while gambling and not going beyond your gambling budget which supposed to be a small amount of money.

I'd like to hear from those of you who have experienced this or are still dealing with it. Please share your testimonies.
Mine was when I was in school, gambling affected me during my final year. But I have built a good GPA already which was what that helped me to have a good overall result.

I believed all gamblers have experienced this situation in one time or the other. But as a gamblers, we supposed know that gambling is not for children but for adults and like minded people so that when you lose you will have that thick skin and move on. This feeling is not only in your working place but also at home and other places. Whenever you lose your bets which you thought, you would win to settle some pressing issues. It makes someone weak but as a mature person you don't allow it to over shadow your spirit at work in that day. And one thing we have to know is that gambling is not something we win  and lose always but the losses are always surpassing the winning so you have to put that one in your mind when gambling. Though it is not everytime I have that experienced but in specific occasions and in most time when I was planning to use the winning money to do something important things and I don't have anything in my pocket again. But even at that the loss will not come back again so I always tried to console myself and move on. Gambling is for the thick skin and not for the weak skin.

Yes, it will be unpleasant if you have a regular 9-5 job and then after that you will go on a gambling binge. Not a good combination specially if you live by paycheck to paycheck. Of course there were days that you are going to win, but as we all know, the house edge are going to caught up with us. And no matter how much money we have, if we don't have control over our emotions, sooner or later we're all going to lose.
Regardless of whether there's a house edge or not, sometimes when we really lose in gambling, we lose our focus on work because we get emotionally affected. Based on my experience, it's best if we can avoid gambling, discipline ourselves, and only gamble after work – but, of course, with limitations. We shouldn't let it affect our job.

Have you seen the movie "The Gambler"? He was a teacher in the morning, gambled at night, and became addicted, which eventually made him quit teaching and even put his life in danger due to big loans from loan sharks.

Let me tell you, the feeling is far from pleasant. It leads to a decline in your work performance, which can have significant consequences since that's your primary source of income. Yes, you are affected mentally, maybe there will be times after you lose that you will blame everyone around you, your officemates, your families to the badluck that you encountered when you gamble. But if you look closely, you are the one that put yourself into this predicament and no one to blame except you. And then you suffered depression in days, maybe loan some money to your officemates just to be able to cope with the issues of money that you have lost to gambling.

That will make the situation worse. You don't borrow money for gambling, as that's the best recipe for disaster.

A co-worker did this and he got fired, it's unfair to gamble during work time you are paid to do your tasks and you have a contract from your company to complete all your tasks, this is the easiest way to lose your job or get demoted, companies do not want their work to gamble too much to the point that they are bringing their gambling activities to their work station.

Some companies have a disclaimer in their company that you should have a sound mind and you are not involved in gambling activities, these are sensitive positions that involve handling finances, you can still gamble but do it in the privacy of your own home if you're playing online or when you're in a vacation or day off if you're playing offline.
You are free to gamble but prioritize where you get your bread and butter.

I consider that gambling that does not recognize time and place is an addiction and must be addressed immediately because it will harm many parties, apart from work, time and money because you will play without focus.
I like to gamble and I also work, but I only gamble on weekends after five stressful days at work with enough capital. Indeed, sometimes when I have a long free time at work, sometimes I feel like gambling, but I overcome this desire by doing other work or helping my co-workers' work which makes me forget. But that feeling is very rare because I always focus on my work when I'm working.

I totally agree with you. Sometimes, we cannot deny that we get tempted to do gambling during our work, which is of course not a good idea because it will negatively affect our performance in work. Even if we say that we engage with gambling during our break, it is still a bad idea because that is still during your working hours. I think the best way to avoid such is to better manage your time, and only set a time for gambling so that your work will not be compromised. On my case, I set weekends as my gambling day to make sure that I am free and nothing will be affected from it. Take note that gambling at work might affect your performance, and as well as the people around you and the company you are working with.

I never gambled while working because my work was mostly outside in the past, so it required me to stay focused on doing my job. I only gamble at home, not doing anything busy, and have much free time.

I realize that gambling at work will affect our performance at work. Many people have experienced this. Even my friend who works in another office once told me he gambled at the office. But instead of winning, he lost and when he lost, he couldn't focus on doing his work. His concentration was disturbed because he was still thinking about his previous defeat. Luckily, he could think clearly that this was the office, not a gambling place.

Problems may arise if we gamble at the office. If we lose, we may still think about the loss and want to play but we are at the office. That's why if you want to gamble, you should gamble when you are not doing anything.
