For me, those who are shaken by the spread of FUD topics and discussions are the ones who likely gave up and end up selling their bitcoin at a cheap/losing price.
Even HODLers like me are losing too especially when you bought bitcoin at 16,000$ and plummets down its value at 6,000$+. Although it's frustrating to watch bitcoin's graph everyday, you better yet stop looking at the graph so you won't be tempted to sell your bitcoin.

I suppose that there are some newbies (and some non-newbies too) out there who got invested over 10k, and are currently losing money.
Losing money is very stressfull, so I was just wondering... are you cutting your losses or you will hodl your stash untill 2020 and more following an "all or nothing" strategy?
In my very own opinion its better to hodl it than sell it in loss or if i were the newbie who bought it higher than 10k usd i will buy some good coins rather than waiting for bitcoins to comeback. A higher opportunity to earn in altcoins and to make a breakeven earning of earn more bitcoins but the big risk to a nrwbie if he hasnt involve in crypto trading yet. For that i would advise it to hodl only and try to learn trading as much as he can.

That is why joining trading and investing in digital currencies is very risky because Bitcoin price is unpredictable and i believed it was manipulated too by the Big whales or by the Bitcoin haters in which all we can do is to closely monitor the update and news so that we will never be left behind of what will going to happen. Like now Bitcoin is going to reach $9,000 in which will attract more people to invest more then after pouring their investment it will suddenly drop again because the Big whales will sell high and buy low again after creating a panic scenarios.

Trading is particularly at risk of losing crypto, especially for beginners who have absolutely no knowledge in this field. Like last month, bitcoin values dropped dramatically. all surely many are losing their money, losing money in bitcoin investment should not have happened, because all that can be overcome with patience. because the true value of bitcoin will definitely come back, or maybe even better.

1 bitcoin is still 1 bitcoin regardless of the USD value, if you’re HODLING you’ve lost nothing.
Who here doesn’t think we’ll see 1 bitcoin worth $50,000 by 2021?

Not me.  Grin

My friend. He is so stressed right now. He is new to crypto and when he saw bitcoin was ranging from 18-20k USD, he took advantage of the opportunity to buy since the speculations during that time that bitcoin might reach 50k. Now he doesnt know what to do. I advised him to hold more longer. I hope he will not blame me for advising him to do so.

You should at least tell him the idea of fluctuation and price correction and how the markets work. As a newbie they should learn the basics first before putting a lot of money because it could be stressful if they can't handle the downfall. The market is like a roller coaster or a sling shot but the better way to imagine it is like a wave in the ocean.

It should be done well before the block halving that in current times is going to take place at the beginning of June in 2020. With lightning network being globally deployed we should be able to reach it before the end of 2019.

In other words, $50,000 by 2021 is on the conservative side, and thus we should be focusing on $100,000 to be achieved by that time. It means that Bitcoin's market cap will break through the $2 trillion dollar mark.

Gold currently has a market cap of $8 trillion, and who knows how much of that will flow into Bitcoin at some point in the future. I want to experience the moment when Bitcoin surpasses gold in that aspect. It will happen. Cool

Those people who are buying bitcoin's at its peak, I'm pretty sure they'll be in troubled and possible thay they are selling their coins for they are afraid btc will fall into nothing.  Though we can't laugh at them,  considering that they really don't realize and purely profit are in their mind without knowing of holding and keeping patience.

Stress being a psychological factor hits very hard when you're forced to sell at a loss. I have personally seen people panic sell not only crypto but stocks too ,and seen them stress and regret later on. I'm neither hodling nor cutting down the losses. I wait to get a profit inconsiderate on how much time it takes(may sound similar to hodling but it is not),and mostly try to wind up my trades in the short run.

Those who sold their coins lower than the price they bought them were the one who lost their money. How could someone having some BTCs bought at 19k, for instance, lose their money if the BTCs are still intact. The coins are still there so when the price goes over 20k and they sold their coins then they gained. Regardless of the current price, as long as the coins are untouched, you lose nothing.

People who might have invested in bitcoin when it was over 10k and chose to hold it for a long time can be assumed to be losing money due to this drop. But they are not exactly losing money because they have it with them and it definitely will rise giving them profits, so it can be said that they are dealing with some TEMPORARY LOSS but they have their bitcoin as an asset with them which will make them good profit in the coming future.
The ones losing money are who bought high and sold low just because of fear of losing their "left" money.

Those who lose money in bitcoin are the people who are selling on loss out of fear causing panic selling. The last downfall that happened was the distribution stage, the whales have discreetly sold their position to the newbies who are jumping the bandwagon in BTC. What's happening currently is the accumulation stage of institutional buyers who are buying cheap BTC from those who are panic selling. A few months from now, we could see another uptrend for BTC.

Not losing money if I don't sell Wink
I've seen dips like this before, I kept strong and hodl and it ended up good.

Well said. You still have the same amount of BTC even during this dip. All the panicking ones don't realize or believe in the true future of bitcoin. Bitcoin will surpass its last ATH, that's for sure, so no money is lost, only gained, if people only hodled instead of being impatient.

So, after 3 pages of discussion, NOBODY is selling for a loss?

I find it very strange, because the volume and the price tell me that a lot of people were buying @15-20k usd, and a lot of people are selling now.
I doubt that these 2 groups don't overlap at all, cutting losses is not an uncommon strategy when trading, seems odd to me that nobody cut any loss here...
That could indicate that many of the people in the forum either bought when the price was a lot cheaper or are very stubborn individuals, I think that those that bought at the top are the ones selling, anyone that bought when the price was 5k or similar has not really a reason to sell, besides in my particular case I do not really have any need for that money, I invested that money knowing full well that I could lose it all, and while I'm not losing money I'm not going to sell my bitcoin for these low prices.

Maybe the mindless people who invested in bitcoin in its moon days when it was its rocking 17k-19k around value and believed in it at the wrong time maybe, they are losing money. But saying losing money maybe incorrect as there are high chances of bitcoin rising again making them good amount and recover the current temporary so called loss.

And what they lose, they hold back because they see that in the loser. But when the price goes up they are activated, now why are few people being purchased. And they keep it and do not buy it, it is clear that the price is still moving dynamically but still interesting.

As I am holding Bitcoin and do not sell it yet I do not think that I am losing my coins. The money that I have invested into this crypto will come back to me in a few months. However, even if I sell BTC now, it will be a good deal – I bought crypto for the price under 6K.

Now, the most reasonable solution seems to be to keep bitcoin. This is actually a very stressful situation for people who have bought and now they are losing money. At the moment there is no optimism in the market, but in the long term the price should increase.

Yes I agree. Losses always may you tensed and depress. Holding only make you to free from this two.Now the price of bitcoin crossed 11400$,So the people who inverse when the price is 10k$ will get some profit now.In ten days you are getting 1000$ for a bitcoin, just think how much you will get ,if you hold it for a month.
