Both of them are safe and easy to use.

I am using myetherwallet and I am very cool with it. I like the fact that I can be able to see all my tokens all in one place. that makes great sense to me
I have been using MEW ever since i started transacting alts. I find MEW as one of the most user friendly and has the easiest user interface. If security matters, MEW is exposed to most hackers just like any other wallet but i think your assets are safe as long as you inspect carefully the site url since most cases you only get hacked if you let the hacker know your private key. Also you can check your balance with just the use of your wallet address so you can be secure for sure.
I have been using myetherwallet for a very long time and it is serving me well but recently I moved over to metamask and I love it even more. For me metamask is more secured because I don't need to use my private key any time I want to login into my wallet.

I like myetherwallet, it is a bit difficult to use in the beginning but you quickly figure out the main functionalities. What is great that you also can use you it with the Nano which makes it very secure.
