I believe that we see the dip as 6k, US audit finished, tether problem is solved(I hope) then 7,5k limit just broken again.
So I suggest to start think about selling targets or last buys

Because holders of any particular coin determine the price of that coin.  What control the price of a coin is not the media or negative news or even the economy.  The most important factor in coin price is the community and holder of such coin.  If the holder sell their coin there will not be any value left for such coin.

People tell you to hold because they don't want you to drive the market down even further by selling.  The people who yell "HODL!!" are the ones holding bitcoin, so you selling in a downturn is not in their best interest.  Then there's the "misery loves company" aspect, too.

This happens not only in bitcoin but the stock market and every other market where people gather online to talk about it.  The whole thing is retarded IMO, because you don't actually make money unless you sell (just like you don't actually lose money until you sell).

Any rational person--if they're a trader, and not someone who is owning bitcoin in order to spend it--will take his profit at some point, and some people do like to protect against further losses.  The whole HODL thing is just a war cry that I find kinda silly.  Having said that, there are a lot of people who've made a killing by following that advice...so I won't exactly call those people idiots.

there is no way anyone can predict the trend to go up or down, most are suggesting to hold because that is what to do now, now that the price is low, if everybody will keep on selling, the market will be saturated with lots of bitcoin supplies, we can apply the law on supply and demand, more supply means low demands. when holders are selling their bitcoin, the price will continue to drop because the supply is huge, if what all are saying is to hold, it means we are trying to stop the flow of supply, when the time when people are buying, the supply of bitcoin will decrease thus resulting shortage of bitcoin then the demand increases, therefore the bitcoin price in the market will also increase.

Hi all,
I have a really simple question or so seems to me cause i am a crypto noob.
I really do not understand why almost everybody suggest to hold when there is a dip or correction.

With my simple noob logic i think that when there is a dip someone could sell at the start of the dip or do something else (e.g. buy tether y i know the rumors or something similar anyway) and then buy again later when the correction has stop or decrease.

Obviously no one knows when there is a many days dip and when it will end in order to buy but even so one can save much money just for sell and buy in between even without predict the absolute start and end of a dip.

I hold as everyone suggests but i now realise that if i had sell even a couple days before even yesterday-and not right after the start of the dip and buy lets say now i would have save a bunch of money relatively with what i am doing now which is hold.

I really must be missing something since i am crypto noob orelse i cannot explain why everyone suggest hold while i fear that real pros are doing the oppossite.

I would like to ask only experienced people who know what they are talking about to give their opinions cause i am fed up reading pseudo crypto pros everywhere around. I bet many of you understand what i mean. Everybody has become a crypto pro . Well i am a crypto noob and i need your heads up.

Thank you for your time reading this and excuse my lame English.

Regards.
I think that when the market is in a hurry, going down like this is our chance to get rich. It can be seen that most people are panicked by the news of bitcoin and want to sell it, which has caused the price of bitcoin is extremely low. That is the opportunity for us to buy bitcoin at extremely cheap prices, we all know by the end of 2017 the price of a bitcoin has hit the $ 19800 mark. This is great opportunity for us to x3 our property.

Because they already know the potential of the coin and may be they understand that market is in correction mode. People who are holding right now will make more money on the investment they made. So when the market is in downtrend the only option we have is to HODL.

I think that everyone wants to keep their bitcoin because at the moment bitcoin is experiencing very bad news from China, most recently China has issued a ban on all activities related to bitcoin and will tighten management. Trading floors in this country. But with the potential and development of bitcoin we can see in the long run bitcoin prices will rise again and even higher than the $ 19800 mark.

The reason why almost all user here in forum suggest to hold, because that's the easiest way when it comes to gain a profit if you lose some bitcoin cause of the dip now. But it's take time to gain more profit if the price or value increase again, just we need patience before that happen.

holding have a good side in the market and also for the person holding a coin , lets take first on the side of market , if you sell your coin and let say that many of people also selling the tendency is those who sells had contributed to the dropping of price even if you think that i got only some bitcoin it may not affect the price . On the side of you if you hold .01 btc and you acquire it with the price of 10k dollar and when the price drops and you decided to sell it with 9k dollar you are now negative on profit so it is better to hold and sell when the price reach 10k dollar again or more .

History speaks to hold, As I remember this fall is not so big that we have seen in past years , and what happened after all these? Huge rise that we have never imagined. Simply see last 5 year chart and you will get to know what I mean to say.
Because those investors know the rules of the market and they are confident that the market will rebound in March 2018. So on the large investment forums on cryptocurrency advise investors to keep the copper their crypto.

From some of the many owners of the bitcoin who chose to sell it. There are many who choose to hold it, those who choose hold a bitcoin and regular believe prices will go up again, are those people who have long known the world of bitcoin and already witnessed how price bitcoin up and down.

If you don't sell so you will don't lose, so just holding our investment because I'm sure bitcoin price will bouncing and increase the price again. So let's just see the market btc. By holding our coin it can minimize our losse, so many people will suggest to hold our coins.

If you are a day trader than you don't really need to hodl. The hodl mentality is used by long term investors who believe the coin will keep increasing and they don't want the stress of daily trading even if they could increase their portfolio doing it.
Day trading ofcourse comes with its risk of losing hella  money if you are not lucky or have no idea what you are doing .Sometimes you have to hold when the market price movement is unpredictible and never  blame yourself for not selling or buying at certain price ,because it's not your fault and you could've never guessed it if it wasn't shown on the chart. That's why holding is better.

You have to make your clear plan before holding, not holding just because people suggest holding, that's a mistake. Holding is suggested by experienced traders because usually it is profitable way to making money with crypto currencies, but in the other hand you should be a bit patient and don't panick whenever the prices go down.

Everybody suggest to hold because of the price of bitcoin is getting lower. And because we believe in the future bitcoin will rise and l know it will continually goes up. Hopefully this month will be the increasing time for bitcoin so that the other coins will rise up also. So it's better to hold now especially the savers of bitcoin. Investors and traders now buy and hold. Because they have the chance to buy now on this very dump coins.l think this is the number one to business now having a good income.

Because holdig will lessen or should I say no loose on your holding. When you know what coin you are trading and the price was gone low after you buy, you will just loose the capital when you sell lower. We suggest to hold in that kind of situation, because no one knows what would really happen the future, no have made it correctly to predict it.
Holding do have a corresponding risk or just like a gamble and if you do tend to risk to hodl since you do believe on recovery of the market then you can do such thing. People do always suggest this thing because our investments cant be still considered on losing side as long we didnt sell it and still idling on our own wallets. Holding is the thing we can do now specially on a crashing market.

Every move and action right now has its own corresponding risks, most especially because the market is going down and many coins and assets across are falling in value. Even Bitcoin, which is believed to be the best, is not in a good a good state right now. Having said, if you hold, then the risk you losing profit or selling for virtually nothing or a loss would be mitigated. Holding doesn't amount to profit either, so that's the thing about it. It's a waiting game that one knows when will end. In the market right now, patience is key, and those who have it actually gets rewarded.

I agree with you that people can sell at the start of the dip and it is absolutely stupid to hold it for loss.Yes no one can predict how many days the dip will last but one thing my friend you need to understand why this dip occurs.According to me it doesn't happens due to some FUDs or negative news but it happens by the reaction of the people after hearing those news.People starts panic and they try sell all they have in order to be in profits, which reduces the market cap and making prices to fall.Soo though everybody knows about this but still they would react in a same way.If this changes ,i don't think there will be this sudden dips possible.

Think about the details what your aim and purpose why you are here in bitcoin forum? Is it just for fun and you wanted to talk to someone? Of course not, we are here to help bitcoin to grow and in order for it to grow we must at least have some of it and hold for a long time, but what are we doing? Do you think we are helping.
It would be weird to say that you are indeed trying to save bitcoin by holding the coins, the people who are trading ,who have invested huge amount of money would not do that for the sentimental purposes, they will most likely try to cut the losses and get hold of the coin when the market goes down and then enter so that you could have the best benefit.
