Because it is better to have a hope than having only few dollars. 99% loss means that you are not selling but giving away your tokens almost for free!
Well i am holding so many shitcoin that i get from bounty campaign because i am still hoping that there price will rise slowly, and my other reason why i am not selling my shitcoin is i am believing that 2020 will be the best year for all altcoins.

Being a holder is key and very important. Selling some tokens off immediately after listing has thought me great lessons that holding is very important. If you've ever sold a coin cheaply and wake up the next morning realising that the coin or token has increased 5times on value, then you will really understand that holding shitcoin is somtimes the best decision to undertake.
What's more important and will always be more important than holding is using it.
If you can't use your token to buy stuff or pay for stuff, then you're holding a shitcoin that will only get worse and worse in value. So please don't buy and hold shitcoins and think they will magically go 5x overnight.
its not about holding.. its about there is no way you can sell it.. specially to those project who have been abandoned by their devs.. no choice to hold or should i say display in my wallet
i got like 50 that kind of tokens without any value. i cant even sell any of them. So i believe in miracle that someday these coins will rise.
That's the only thing that you could do with those kind of tokens/coins. If there is an off-market exchange then you might want to trade over there.
Bounty (airdrops) hunters basically do not know what will be the coin they received..will it be shitcoin or coin will rise in price. But mostly they get shitcoin.. it impossible to sell or their price is very low. Very few projects generate good income.
I used to hunt for airdrops in 2018 and after I was unable to sell many of the rewards because they are never listed on exchanges i ignore them but few months ago i noticed that 80% of these tokens have been listed so I sell them off because they have no real working product which is another mean to shitcoin, I'm glad I'm able to sell
Why people hold it? I think it is simple. Because they have no value and you can't sell it. Besides it is a waste of time if you sell it now. Better focus on the tokens or coins with good value. We cannot tell if that coin with no value will have value in the future. So it is better to keep it in a safe place than to sell it on its lowest value.
Frankly speaking, I refer to cryptocurrency and profits from it so. If the coins of the project cost only 10 dollars. I’m not selling them for sure. Because it will not bring me profit. Perhaps the projects will be resurrected. And the price of such coins will give a good growth.

You are right. I also have similar reasons. Most tokens that cannot be sold come from airdrop (small amount) and reward bounties that are very cheap (not on target) after listing. So I leave it in the wallet because if it's sold it's not worth the gas and the price I get for many it is not worth the effort to sell them. so they remain on the erc20 address and maybe even for ever

There are some tokens in my ethereum wallet that have lost value to the extent I don't think they can ever recover even if the bull market starts tomorrow due to the level of competition in the altcoin market. I also bought some coins but can't remember the password or name of exchange i bought them on (thinking it was cryptopia) I didn't bother transferring it off the exchange and most of them were bought around 1satoshi.
Back to my ethereum wallet, each time I see those worthless token I just laugh and continue with what I login my wallet to do. If you ask me why I'm still holding does tokens in my wallet I can't give a reply. Why are you still holding those shitcoins sorry altcoin
Yeah these shitcoins are only design in my wallet, i hold them because i have no choice the value is too small, im still hoping that these shitcoins gets high value in the future so my effort in holding become worth it lol. The last bullrun as proven that if altcoin season returns there will always be profits to make from even shitcoins so i will advice you to just leave them on your wallet for some time hopefully in the future altcoin season will return
Some may sell but prices are too small for us to trade.
I consider this a serious problem on eth that should be solved. You just can't trade small amounts, even if they still have some value. This doesn't happen on stellar, eos, waves... where the fees are very low and you use decentralized exchanges directly from your wallet.
No value and cant bring profits, simple as that thats why I'm still holding that shit coin, and thats shitcoins are from those bounty that i promote thats why i only Promoting good projects that list on top ten exchange or the one who pays eth or btc.
I will hold it back as long as I am sure that they still have hope for the future, but it is different if there is absolutely no price development, maybe I will immediately sell and fix it with other altcoins. why new altcoin or old altcoins are difficult to develop because teams / developers no longer care about their projects and in fact are like that.

Surprising things have happened in this industry and it wouldn't be uncommon to find them happening again. I could just be lucky to see a massive Boom in prices.
I keep them just incase. All I need to the wallet exe and the backup of wallet.dat and that is it. If one day the coin has some use then I can always get to it. I don't want to have regrets by deleting it then one day maybe there is a swap or other plan for those coins? Maybe they hit a new exchange.

Maybe the name of that exchange is Yobit, there are a lot of tokens, that are worth 1 satoshi and ready to get pump if you bought it on Yobit, it will be used to pump all these coins, they are very notorious on pumping dead coins, but it's not recommended to buy coins that can be considered a shitcoin because they will always remain a shitcoin.
Yeah i am still holding some coins that are that pure crap right now, value should be over 200% of what they are worth right now, but it makes no sense to sell anyway.
