they say this is because the price of bitcoin is continuously down at the moment, sometimes it is the price of bitcoin is up, but not for long, and will fall back, hopefully not many more people who sell bitcoin massively so prices bitcoin exchange will further increase and stable ...  Grin

Why do people keep saying BTC is dead?!

Because they are a jealous bunch, most of them are butt hurt because they missed the boat and don't have enough money to buy lots of BTC. So they dream about $1 Bitcoin and how they'll buy thousands if that happens.

Panic is a natural response to a price drop.
There have been more severe problems in the past these people are not aware off.
After the euphoria and media attention of the last few months reality just slapped some newcomers in the face.
that's all.

Huge number of people got into BTC in 2013 as a speculation vehicle, not as believers in the technology or with an understanding of why its politically/philosophically important.

Just Lizard brained dipshits, basically.

Now they grow weary of the joyride and might even cashout as bitter losers if the bought in Dec2013.
Eventually those people will turn profitable but it's going to take a while. Luckily I never bought when the price got over $1000/BTC. It seems to rise too quickly and would eventually drop anyway. I think we have hit the bottom now and as you can see bitcoin is slowly making it's way up again.

People say bitcoin is dead either because then want to buy, but the are late into the game. They spread panic resulting in large amounts of bitcoins being sold driving the price down so they can get bitcoins cheaper. Or they think that more countries will ban bitcoin. In my opinion bitcoins is going to keep rising. Of course there are going to be downfalls  like we are experiencing now, but in the long run it will be an upward trend. Many people believe in this because they own a lot of bitcoins and hope to make the most out of them. I believe in bitcoin price rising because of a different reason. Firstly more and more people are accepting bitcoins as payment options. This is not only online but also offline. I know a small place near where I live where I can purchase using bitcoins. The publicity of bitcoins will lead to more people being aware of something like this and will see the investment opportunity, not only publicity but also word of mouth. I wouldn't have found out about bitcoins if it wasn't for my friend who told me. That is a bunch of reasons together but we will call it as one. The second reason why I think bitcoin price will keep rising is because the mining difficulty is getting higher and higher. Eventually there will only be a set amount of bitcoins that can be used. This will lead to scarcity and as we all know scarce resources are not cheap.

Just my point of view on this topic.

many noobs getting into btc recently or skeptics / analyists (such as some mouthpiece i just heard on coast to coast radio) have no idea how bitcoin works. The malleability issue or poor coding by gox or theives setting up darknet sites to rob people quickly
turns into a "flaw in bitcoin". Although these misconceptions do harm market value temporarily they eventually strengthen bitcoin. Users need to be more responsible with their coins, Learn not to panic sell and realize that there will always be the doubters that cry wolf at first sight of bad news.  we are a community that can easily fall victim if users arent really tech savy / able to keep their coins safe. If only the fudsters would give the same attention to current financial systems everytime millions of credit card numbers are stolen by hackers from corporate servers.

Its mainly just newbies who bought 0.1 btc and saw the value go down over the last week and think the sky is falling.   Or it is the media and all these financial articles that are posted online, most of which are completely inaccurate and it is clear that they did not take the time to research the facts.   Typically when people write articles about finance they at least fact check, but with bitcoin it seems like they just write whatever they hear as if it is fact.

I'd say that most of the people ranting constantly about crashes and BTC being dead don't even have any BTC.
They talk all this crap because they want it to crash since they feel like they missed the chance of a lifetime.  They don't want to buy if it does go way down, they just want to see early adopters lose. They are extremely jealous and can't stand it but somehow manage to spend more time thinking about bitcoin than the bitcoin millionaires.

I take it as proof BTC is growing too.  When it "crashes" to only $600, I think that reiterates how strong BTC is.

Also to those saying its "dead," then why has it risen 15% in the last 24 hours?

IMO I think it acts as proof that Bitcoin is growing.

FUD will only ever work on a noob, and since FUD-peddlers never go away, that means we have a steady influx of new Bitcoin users.

And not just some old lady in Florida whose grandson signed her up... I'm talking mostly computer-literate people who sign up for this very forum.

proudhons will always be around, even when we break the ATH this year. It is best to take it for what it's worth and decide whether it was annoying enough to make you block them or just gives you a chuckle.

This always happens when the price is in a downtrend...The ones stuck in fiat who missed the rally from $100 are trying to get others to panic and sell so they can buy bitcoins for cheap...

Some of them are trolls and just want the attention...best to ignore them...

This sounds reasonable, but maybe they should get blocked for spamming or something, not sure how the moderation on this forum works

Why do people keep saying BTC is dead?!

Because they don't know what they're talking about. Those people are just handing their bitcoins to someone else who deserves them more.
