I use different bitcoin wallets for different purposes. From an online wallet, I can do online transactions in the go. But an offline, hardware wallet is more secure so I can keep a part of my bitcoin to use in my online wallet and keep my other bitcoin as investment in an offline, hardware wallet.
the same for me, i think it is better to use a lot of wallets if you actually want your bitcoins to be safe

why people are using bitcoin wallet? if you ask me, they use a lot of bitcoin wallet because they may want a secure transaction, using bitcoin wallet different in every transaction. so they use a lot of bitcoin

You mean to say that people uses multiple bitcoin wallet for security.  And that was also the reason my friend told me when I asked him the same question.  They feel unsecured having or keeping their bitcoins into one bitcoin wallet only.  If that bitcoin wallet hacked there is no way they can take back all their bitcoins.  So it is safer to create multiple bitcoin wallet.

Spreading your bitcoin across several different wallets is wise for security reasons.

It's also good if you want to keep some element of privacy, as don't forget, the blockchain is public.  You may not want someone you are transacting with to be able to see every transaction you've made.

And with that advice offered, may I take a moment to pimp out our gorgeous laser etched BIP38 encrypted wallets?

We do custom designs, we sell credit card sized wallets, dog tags and bottle openers, with more product lines and services coming in the next year.  Just visit us at www.facebook.com/BitStashers to keep up to date with our offers, or visit our site www.bitstashers.com - either way, our wallets are durable, beautiful and functional cold storage.  You aren't going to get much better :-)

Beside that, people use multiple wallets because they don't feel secure to keep all their coins in one wallet (if they have a lot) because it is internet and anything can happen any time, so splitting your coins into different wallets would be more secure for you.

One account here in bitcointalk must have it's own wallet. Two accounts with the same bitcoin wallet might be get kicked in a signature campaign or here in this forum if someone will notice about it and have an Screen shot of it and report it to the moderator. The worst scenario is you will get banned for months I think and you might can't go back anymore. So it's better if each of your account here in bitcointalk has it's own bitcoin wallet to avoid this kind of situation.

In most cases it is a matter of security, but there are people who exaggerate in the number of wallets, perhaps because they are paranoid people. This can be a problem when managing the wallets.

Personally I do not want to have my BTC all in one place.  Due to constant hacking and theft I would rather spread it out. The most secure is a paper wallet.

Yeah. There has been many topics like this and people say they use many wallets. So I was just wondering why they use multiple wallets.
investing some wallets if you send your bitcoin to gambling website they lockes up your account.
it's not the main purpose for the people is creating a much wallet in this day, for the mainly reason is for securing their money and i think the second place is for providing a wallet of every jobs, because in this day i think every people is having more than 1 job.

I was going to use only one wallet but now after reading many posts I change my mind and thinking to use many wallets is much better and safer for every user because its give some better security to user
Yes if you store bitcoins in different wallets than risk of lossing all you have when the one where you were having your coins get shutdown. But better try to only use wallets which have very good review and are trusted.

to me the only reason behind this fact may be the security factor, other wise there is only one bitcoin wallet is enough for bitcoin. but some people may have some more number of bitcoins and they wan tot keep then in separate bitcoin wallets so as  to reduce the  the hacking of wallets.

I think people use so many bitcoin wallets for safety, they seperate their bitcoins into many wallets. So their bitcoins become safety. Well, everyone have their own reason why people use so many bitcoin wallets.

People want to ensure their security and due to that they are doing this, overall it is a good thing to do but its not something you can easily do.
You also need a list with all these wallets, and that is maybe a risk because if people gets this list you are also in danger.

I don't think that is an hard thing to do, now a days people can easily keep things secret in a mobile or a laptop or even in a place in real world where no one can see them except the person himself, so keeping the details about his wallets wont be a big deal.

I think people are using many wallets just because they get them free, Only few would have reasons behind them to use multiple wallets.

I first heard of xapo wallet, just signed with xapo to claim their free 100 bits, i was using them for quiet a period, after that coinbase announced an offer of $5 bitcoins free for just opening an account with them, I did that too.

Later i tried to install bitcoin wallet in my computer but that blockchain size to be downloaded seemed very high, so dropped that plan and continued to use bot xapo and coinbase. xapo for faucet claiming and coinbase to buy bitcoins.

Later i read in some blogs and forums blockchain is safer to use in web wallets, just created an account there and never used it till now. I personally prefer coinbase since xapo has many issues with verification.

So i started using all 3 wallets because they were free and just i can created an account there. There was no special consideration in doing so
