I understand where you are driving to but it depends on the environment/society you’re in. There is such society where people don’t care if you gamble or not because they are just all about their business and nothing else.

Hide and Gamble is a personal interest because so many persons does not want somebody to know that is why some persons do not showcase their self that they are into them, because sometimes I can see that many persons who is in gambling don't like to people who is living in the same area with same area with them to notice they are gamblers

Gamblers may not play their bets in the public due to how the society describes gambling.From the view of the society on gambling most gamblers wouldn't want to tarnish their image so the only way out is to hide and gamble on a lowkey.
While some the reason why they hide is because their religion is totally against gambling.In this situation if a person's religion is totally against gambling they won't want to bet publicly.

I have not seen anything wrong for someone to gamble and make it secret and I have not seen anything also wrong for someone to be a participant of gambling and also make it to open to people tomorrow best on individual differences and the understanding to participate in gambling and also make it to open to people to know the only place that are we encourage people to do is to hide gambling to the children or to the family but in Street or environment you find yourself I don't see any reasonable something that will make me to hide myself not to be a pronounce gambler every person have it on decision your decision might not be my decision so I've chosen to be a gambler that does not mean that Im inresponsible

I think some important needs may be attached to gambling in an isolated environment with fellow players. Not all gamblers feel familiar with the stigmas placed on gamblers by non players. Many players talk about how they feel underrated because they're gamblers. These ideas of playing in a hidden environment provides a shield for the players against other non gamblers in their midst. Mind you that such stigma also exists in a gambling legalized country. Though the stress of moving around visiting the gambling location is another factor that should introduce the gamblers to online gambling. For a better privacy. It gives the player the feeling of individually enjoying his gambling session. With nobody's validation and argumentative comments.

Gambling with friends is fun especially where nobody asks too many questions on the activities held in the premises. Everyone would freely exercise their franchise. Unlike this type of isolated settings with friends, where players can laugh over few conversations and discussion. Reasons such as a healthy entertaining environment with close friends is the misery behind why friends may hide to gamble.

Agree with all that you have said, but I will also like to point out that, gambling is not all for fun for many that have money already, though I undersant that onlookers will assume the that person is just gambling for fun when in reality, the customer is also highly interested in more money through their gambling activities.

And going back to hiding our gambling activities, i would say that even till now, I still hide my gambling activities from my wife, and this is because she doesn't like gambling, it would be a great disappointment for her  if by any means, my wife discovers as I gamble.

So yeah, for many or most of us, our reputation is why we usually sometimes chose to keep our gambling a secret from those around us.

Aside from the kind of upbringing the individual might have grown up with which would want to make them hide to gamble in order to protect their reputation in their environment, some of these people what could make them hide to gamble is as a result of a low self esteem they carry innately it affects their thinking about how things they do and how people might think about them, and this goes a very long way in shaping how they do things.

Nonetheless, I do dislike those kind of gambling as it could lead to fighting and quarrels among the gamblers when one might feel cheated or can't control his temper as he continue making a loss. And most of this type of gambling as the Op explained are usually done among people with questionable character that is why they go into hiding when playing their gamble

A simple question here; should gambling be done in public? Because I don't see anything wrong in people gambling in secret, it just might be their way of comfort where they find ease to play.
Maybe those guys are more comfortable in that place especially if gambling isn't illegal in your area. Nobody should give any explanation or justify why and where they gamble because each person is responsible on his own. The only worrying part would be the age of those guys because if they are underage then it should be a problem. Even though they could be young you can just give them a piece of advice.

There is many reasons why some people would prefer to gamble in secret or hide their gambling activities. Most of the time gambling is seen as a bad habit and some people may judge other individuals who gamble because gambling has bad consequences if it is not practiced wisely and responsibly. In order to avoid people's comment on that some people prefer to keep their gambling habits only for them or only between their trusted ones.

I see no reason why we should be gambling and hiding, even if the country we lived in does not permit for gambling, that can only affect the public and we may not have to see an open gambling casinos as accessible by everyone, while those that will operate under such may have to go low without making much of adverts in other to avoid attention, while we can also gamble with the comfort of our own self when we make use of online gambling platform with the use of our personal device.

The concepts of the thread quite funny, but to be honest I think one of the reason why people hide to gamble is as a result of the fact that they are not proud enough of the gambling act irrespective of the fact that most of the gambling are legalized, but at some point majority of the gambling occasions are not legalized one of the reasons why some people tend to hide to gamble.

If you hide from your friends or family and you start gambling , then that is beyond addiction and you should seek help immediately. However , most of them won't even admit they have a very serious gambling addiction and after all , everyone is kinda free to do what he wants with his private life but please if you have friends who hide to gamble , try to help them.  

It's true, if we like gambling, we have to be able to balance everything well so there won't be any serious problems with the gambling we do, even if the gambling only ends in defeat. Everyone has a different point of view, it's not surprising that there are people who like to show off their gambling because many people might want to see it, especially when they win at gambling. However, in my opinion, there are quite a few people who gamble by keeping their gambling a secret.
Also, I think that those who gamble secretly, they are quite good gamblers, because by keeping their gambling a secret, I think they don't want the gambling they do to be known to many people, even though they win at gambling, it doesn't mean they have to brag about it in front of many people. but rather enjoy it quietly. That's a pretty good choice in my opinion, in fact I think it's better to hide the gambling he does.

It is the same with the hypocrite people. They're good in criticizing other people but they've got a thing that they're been hiding for ages.

Instead of stopping the criticism to the others, they keep doing that because they think that there's nothing wrong with it.

And that's how they are telling and believing things against gamblers but they don't look and clean themselves first.

Honestly, I didn't get the essence that I could get from the thread you posted. especially, if you refer to the title of this thread. Well, it's like this, actually we can answer it simply, in general this is something that is normal if there are many people who prefer to gamble in a quiet place. in this context, referring to your post. it's not like they're hiding "in the broadest sense of the word." It could be that they just avoid the crowds, without anything that makes the games or gambling they do attract a lot of attention in general, or that might even make them noisy. The proof is, you can approach them and even interact. The point is, I don't know where you are, whether gambling is legal or not in your country.

To be sure, I can't answer correctly. because, in essence, I don't know for sure why they did it as you said. There are many factors that cause this, one of which is as I said above. Apart from that, there are many people who really like to gamble secretly for various reasons from online gambling. The most common reason is perhaps it makes them feel comfortable or avoids people around them not knowing. In your case, the gambling you are talking about is based on real gambling, people gathered together in a hidden place. so there is nothing special about what we are discussing in this thread "sorry", because for me the answer is simple as I said.

That's because playing gambling can gives more risks to them so they decides to hides their gambling activity and not telling to random people. They will still doing their routine activities but when they have a spare time, they will use it to playing gambling but wise gamblers doesn't always use it to gambling because they don't wants to face a problems. They will playing gambling occasionally and just use some small money to fills their spare time and when they thinks that their spare time is almost end, they will stops their gambling activity and leave it like that. Maybe we have seen many people drunk and doesn't hide their drinks in front of people because they thinks that's normal seeing people drinks, especially with their friends. They don't do the same as gambling instead will still hides their gambling activity because they don't wants to have a problem with other people.

As long as you can balance everything for sure things will be okay, though I get your point in terms of other people's opinions as even we are already in this modern era there are still people who affects us when they criticize whatever we are doing, gambling from other's perspectives seem not acceptable and with that bad side there are gamblers choose to keep their participation secretly.

They just don't want to answer anything and instead they just wanted to enjoy dicreetly without anything to explain about their gambling participations.

I think that much depends on the upbringing and position in society gambler. If a gambler feels that his passion for gambling negatively affects his reputation, he tries to hide it from outsiders. If the gambler is independent of the environment, he does not care who and what they say about him and his hobbies. After all, gambling is just entertainment for those who have money, of course, with the exception of countries where gambling is prohibited by law.

More often in traditional countries where the era of new technology has not affected them yet. Also, those who are afraid to be seen gambling in public because they want to keep their positions as good as possible without any gossip from their neighbors or the society that is near them.
Government employees cannot also do this, so they will have to hide their gambling problem and most of the time they can only be seen gambling inside the house calling some friends or they are at a trusted friend's house doing gambling.
Before, I have seen a Colonel of our local police who usually plays cards but he is always not in uniform when he plays with his friends. He looks like just a simple old guy playing cards if a person will walk and see him there.

Anything to support people for doing what they like is fine, I know that many hide the activity of the game to avoid problems with their families and with their various jobs, but this is something that should not be done, if there is a person who They don't hide alcoholism nor hide infidelities, why hide the fact that they like the casino? There is no point, if the person who is playing does not harm anyone, why hide the activity, don't you think? The money belongs to the person, it is not the money of others, if it were the money of others they would have the right to get involved, otherwise no.

Until now, it's not accepted by the society and everyone who gambles is already a bad guy to them. They are quick to judge but when they'll be the one to get judged, they hated it.

So with that reverse card, I hope that those people that gets to judge the gamblers will start to realize that judging them won't make them a better person.

But instead, try to give them some good words and thoughts or even reminders and ask them what does gambling does to them.
