          -    Of course, that's simple: they are ashamed that others know that they gamble because maybe they know each other well or what you said is right because of their dignity or reputation,  so they try to hide it instead of finding out, because if someone finds out when they tell the story to one, it is for sure that it will spread immediately like a virus.

That's the only thing I can see and think about why it's hidden or kept to itself, and that includes not being seen by minor children who aren't even adults to maintain being
a role model as an adult.

In fact even if gambling is banned in a country to increase the popularity of online gambling it will be easy for gamblers to keep it a secret. I think the risk would be a little lower if it's hard for legal authorities to get information from here. Maybe many reasons that makes them hides themselves while gambling and they can't tells to many people and only some people who close to them that knows the reasons. I agree with you that this depends on their place because I already see some people who lived in the place that doesn't like gambling can't accept their neighbor playing gambling. They will always reminds that people to leave gambling and if they still wants to playing gambling, those people must use the other places and not in their place. It's a norm that exist on some place and that makes some people hides their gambling activity from other people because they doesn't wants to gets the same experience. What you say is correct, because they are doing it secretly, they are probably afraid of being discovered by the authorities who will definitely follow up with those who gamble even though it is not allowed in their country. And those are completely valid reasons to hide your gambling activities, right now is very common to think that there should no be any kind of secrets among people and that everyone should be open about every single thing they do, but that is not possible, and I can assure you the world will be on flames just days after such a belief was put into practice, as now you will really find out what other people think of you and it will not be pretty, so hiding certain things under specific circumstances makes complete sense to me.

Besides that, their environment can't accept if someone playing gambling in front of them so they will says many things about those who playing gambling. That's make sense so people who playing gambling hides themselves if they wants to playing gambling and if necessary, they will playing gambling in their rooms when no one will see them playing gambling. That's makes them feels no one disturb them or saying anything about their gambling habits and at that moments, they feels like they can do anything for them. They will feels comfortable when they playing gambling in their rooms or other place that no one is watching them playing gambling. Many reasons that people hides their gambling activity from other people because they don't wants anyone says bad about their gambling activity.

I hide when it comes to gambling and these are the reasons why.

1. I have kids living with me, I don't want them to copy me because they have so much respect for me, one once said that he is looking up to me, he is my nephew and my life story is like hope to them, he claimed he want to grow up and become like me, I have always advice them to avoid gambling if they really want to make money, I did this to protect them from gambling addiction.

2. Right from the start I have always hate gambling in thr public, in my country people will use it against you when they notice that things aren't going smooth in your life, they will spread rumour that all you are making is going into gambling and that's why your life is upside down. I shouldn't care much about this, it shouldn't be my business, until I saw how it impacted a brothers life, that the society even deny him of job, because he is a gambler.

When you have children around you, they always want to follow the steps of the older ones around them, either good or bad they don't care, as they still can't tell the difference.

I assess the activities they create from a very positive point of view as human beings with thoughts even though habits can be considered quite bad even if they do not harm other people with the money they allocate for gambling.

It makes the most sense for them to hide in a place where they can't be seen if you don't look. Not all circles view gambling as bad or good and I am also not a saint of activities that are considered bad. But it's true, it depends on each person's decision as a person who gambles.
For me, gambling games are not always bad. Gambling games can be positive if someone does it for positive purposes.
