I was walking down my street this evening I saw some group of guys in a hidden corner of an uncompleted building playing WHOT games ordinarily I felt they are just spending usual time as friends and that they are playing the WHOT game to keep themselves busy while discussing.

But when I got closer to them I discovered that there was a dirty container close to them and inside the container is money they bet for the game they are playing , and if not careful observed you will never believe that they are playing bet games .

My curiosity led me closer to them I was interacting with one of them and at same time observing what they are doing , one thing I observed was that they stake with huge amount and they don’t give you change even when your money requires change instead you will use it and bet for another round.

So at this point I decided to bring it here to know or see different views from different intellects here on why do some people hide just to gamble or if it is the best way to gamble ?.
In some countries it is prohibited to gamble for money, even at home with friends, and is only allowed with chips and pieces of paper, which are worth nothing. If your neighbor notices this, he can report it to the police. Maybe this is the reason. This is probably done to prevent gambling from spreading among young people, although some may say that this will not help the problem.

They can also hide because other places are public and it is prohibited there. Even when I was studying at an educational institution, I remember a story about how several guys played poker in the library and they were expelled for it. After such harsh methods, none of the students dared to repeat this. These players that the OP is talking about didn’t go home to play with one of them because they probably had parents at home, or their sister might have told their parents about it. Generally speaking, they simply did not find a better place and did not want anyone to notice them or interfere with this.

Some people hide their gambling activities because they are embarrassed if their family finds out that they gamble, because considering that gambling has a bad view from society, of course their family will definitely be embarrassed when they find out that their family members are involved in gambling, especially if they become addicted to gambling. Moreover, if they are children who are well known among their families, it is very unlikely that their families will accept that they are addicted to gambling.

You said it right, another reason is because of that kind of mindsets, other people still thinks that gambling got a bad impressions, most gamblers doesn't want to drag their family to this kind of reputation that's why they choose to hide their participation to make sure that their family will not be affected of something that they are doin, better to keep it hidden than being emabarass by those critics who always looking for something to criticize.

Quote
It's true what you said, of course there will be a negative impression when the family finds out that their family members are carrying out activities that many have a bad view of. Apart from that, in my opinion it is better to hide gambling activities than to reveal them. but if it is in a country that allows gambling activities, maybe they will not hesitate to announce the gambling they do, but I think it will hardly have a bad impact even if the country itself allows gambling activities to be carried out.

Indeed, there are place where gambling is already open to everyone, I mean no longer big deal to widely express your activities, though there are still some mostly from rural places where this kind of activities still prohibited in the eyes of most local communities.

Gambling is not a bad activity. So I don't know why some people see gambling as a bad thing. Some of the people who hide today to gamble are people who have given gambling a bad tag. People who criticize gambling but along the line get involved in gambling activity. Having known how much they comdem gambling to see themselves into it again is something that always makes such people to hide to gamble. Because many people today see gamblers as people of no hope, people with no future. Some people hide to gamble in other not to be called any of this names.

But I think that many hide the fact that they gamble because they are ashamed of it. They know that people are going to judge them for that. Due to gambling having a negative reputation, those who gamble, want to hide that fact, to hide that they are part of it. It is not that they are afraid that someone will talk bad because they lose money, they just dont want to be connected with gambling. Like society decided, that the job of a cleaner isnt prestigious, and people who works as cleaners often are ashamed of their profession.
If they live in an environment that doesn't like gambling, of course they will be embarrassed by the gambling activities they do for the various reasons they give and I think it would be better for us not to gamble in front of other people if we don't like other people knowing that we are gamblers and Other people have no right to control the money we use for gambling, all they can do is give advice and we have the right to listen or ignore it.
Gambling was a prohibited behavior in a few countries but so many countries have been allowing it even though some people were saying it's as a taboo activity. They were hiding for various reasons. I believe there are numerous reasons why some gamblers hide when they gamble caused by they can't really sure if they will not get good thing by blatantly gambling on the public.

- Family
- Environment
- Regulation.

I was aware that gambling has been prohibited in some nations but this doesn't mean they are fully disallowed. This is why they are concealing because they are being forced by regulations that would result in jail time if they were caught gambling openly and so, it's not fukin weird to see people hide when they are gambling. Everyone has their own motive for hiding from gambling, but those three are the most common things that have always become the reason why they were hiding from public.

The only effective way to gamble is through internet platforms. Traditional gambling is still a complex issue these days. Without a doubt, many people are not transitioning from traditional to online gaming activities.

It convinces them to keep their identities more safer. Consider the only betting site that knows who you are.

If you are good boy and that impression is known to your place and family, there's no way that you want them to know that you're a gambler. Because once they knew it, you're going to be ashamed of yourself and having that said, you just want to hide that than to let them know. And another reason is you don't want to hear them say such things against you because it's always a negative impression when our families know someone who is a gambler.

I agree. Keeping it to yourself is a great solution and this is to avoid drama which will affect the relationship with the family. Gambling is addictive but people should limit addictiveness and not lose their money.
I think that you will be able to handle the heat if you are successfully to keep it to yourself and private that you're a gambler. And being addicted is unlikely but if you do, the signs are going to be noticed by your family first since you're always with them and they're the ones that won't hesitate to ask you anything if there's wrong or what are you going through. In time, these gamblers that are hiding their inside gambling spirit will be vulgar then in due time.

It seems to me that hiding your interests and passions from your loved ones is somehow wrong. After all, our loved ones should be there to support us in any situation. And if we hide our love of gambling, we risk losing this support.
In addition, when we are open about our interests, others can help us notice dangerous changes. After all, let's be honest - gambling can become a habit that can lead to addiction. And if we talk openly about our hobbies, our loved ones will be able to notice the first signs of addiction and help us fight it.
So I think it's better to be open and not hide your passion for gambling. After all, then we not only retain the trust and support of our loved ones, but also get the opportunity to fight addiction in the early stages. And ultimately, each of us has the right to our interests and hobbies, and there is nothing shameful about being open about it.

Maybe the boys in your neighborhood play hide and seek games because they try to hide from public view. Maybe they're making money by betting so other people can't, those people are gambling so they hide. Also, I think people go to a secret place like this to play games or earn money by gambling, I see it sometimes in my area. People do a lot of gambling on such roadsides, but maybe the guys in your area who gamble secretly try to stay hidden so that it doesn't come out to the public.

Like society decided, that the job of a cleaner isnt prestigious, and people who works as cleaners often are ashamed of their profession.
This could also be another reason why gamblers hide their activities in public because they feel insecure when faced with many people who think too negatively about gambling and it is a fact that many countries have made gambling illegal so those who want to gamble with their friends are forced to hide. so that people don't judge them. When someone feels oppressed because of activities that are considered negative they feel uncomfortable and tend to avoid it by gambling in a quiet and calm place without any disturbance from anyone and usually they also feel more enjoy it that way than having to show it yourself in public.

Even though they are gambling with their own money then why should they think about other people's words or feel embarrassed because of gambling. If I were myself I would probably just be indifferent even if other people knew about gambling even though they thought badly of me but in reality I can control it. So I don't feel worried about what people say people who might despise my activity of gambling and rather think about myself with the pleasure I will get whether playing games or gambling.

Most people are like that especially when they are politicians who have been not known to be like that because they lose their supporters if they know them to be a gambling man. sometimes they talk bad things about gambling but when they get addicted to it, they hide it from the people to avoid any embarrassing speech from them. there are also some places where a person who is addicted to any kind of gambling is automatically judged as a thief and no one will ever trust them if ever they get caught and they can't hide it anymore if people know about it.

in most families there is a system of life in which there is a strong psychological pressure on family members, for example things like being a person with a high level of education if you can get a good position within the family, having a good job also if you You can get a good position within the family, have a lot of money and have many assets. You can also get a good position within the family. Now, when in that same family there is a person who spends the whole day playing in a casino and keeps losing money, then the family members criticize that person every day, which is why that person will choose to hide the fact that he is playing in the casino. lie saying that he no longer plays at the casino and the problem with these types of lies

and that while this person continues playing and lies about not playing, the people in his family continue to evolve in life, the people in his family continue to become people with a very high level of education, other members of the family become richer and when If this person is seeing this, the more depression that person will get and the more money and time they will spend on gambling and the consequence: they lose everything in life and become addicted.

Why do people hide things? - To make sure they are not in someone's/law's eye or they know they are doing something bad/illegal thing. So if someone is hiding to gamble means he is gambling illegally or playing in unauthorized place to do so. Such places may be conducted by criminals so one is risking not only their money but also their own life. So its always good to go to designated/authorized place if one wants to gamble and have fun.

Thinking about your idea I'd say it's quite very far from the concept of the thread. Though it's right to say that people hide when they're about doing the wrong thing. But, gambling is not a bad activity. Some countries legalize gambling, how then do you think or accept that gamblers who hide are doing it because they're scared of getting caught. If a group of friends spend time gambling in a hidden environment they're actually looking for serenity and deadly quiet atmosphere to enjoy their game. Most gamblers hide to gamble for the sake of privacy.

I bumped into some thread that actually gives a reason why we shouldn't gamble openly. People can start talking and laying false accusations on the gambler. Which may not be right, in terms of their perspective. I listened to a gambler sharing his experience with people around him who thought he's addicted, while he's not. Hence, gamblers who hide to gamble are only trying to escape the eyes of people in their environment who may pass across false information to the society about their gambling activities.

It is true that gambling in many countries is legal and recognized as a legitimate form of entertainment. Even though gambling is legal in many places, social stigma still exists. Many people may hide their gambling activities to avoid judgment or prejudice from family, friends, or coworkers. It's not just about fear of the law, but also about maintaining your reputation and avoiding unwanted gossip. So they use gambling as a form of privacy, and vice versa because there are several types of gamblers who to enjoy gambling need peace without disturbance. This is similar to how some people choose to play video games or watch movies alone. Privacy can help them focus and enjoy activities without outside pressure

However, despite this, it is important for gamblers to continue to gamble responsibly and not let this activity negatively impact other aspects of their lives. Gambling too much can cause financial or emotional problems, and hiding these activities can be a sign of deeper problems.

You are right in the first part of your comment, even though you made a switch without any sign or period to indicate that.

I've lived in a place, or (better said), in an area  where gambling was majorly seen as a taboo, people there who are not gamblers consider gambling to be a very immoral thing to do or engage oneself in, they usually see gamblers as a very immoral and useless people, this made those who live in this place to hide themselves when they gambled, I. Personally was not a gambler at the time, and this was why I also saw gamblers in the same light as the others, back then, we used to attribute gamblers to be thieves, armed robbers because, most wrongly assumed that it's only thieves who have the time to engage in gambling, as a responsible person should either be working or resting at all time.

You are right, bro. Another thing is that if they have a gambling addiction problem, which maybe their parents or relatives are aware of and have constantly warned them of, but they became too ignorant of those warnings, they may want to hide and gamble so that their parents can think they have stopped and will not end up feeling disappointed. Someone can also be in a bet with someone who has asked them to stop gambling and that if they don't gamble for a period of time, they will be rewarded with some price, and for the gambler to have that price, they want to play the good guy.

Some people, too, are hiding from the people in the same religion as them because their religion is probably against gaming.

Most of community would really be having that bad impression and views towards gambling on which on the moment that they would really be finding yourself that dealing up with gambling on which this is the situation on which it would be normal that you would be hiding yourself towards those people on which this is really just that a normal reaction for you to have because you dont really like on being judged by other people. This is why on the moment you do find yourself being watched or being observed then you would decide on not to show up yourself on playing gambling.

Actually its not really that bad to play gambling as long you do make yourself responsible. Things do really that become shit on the moment that you
would really be going overboard with your limit on which this is a common issue for most people or on why they do end up on being wrecked by gambling.

He could just gamble at a legal casino, especially since we can easily find online casinos. A person can use online casinos to gamble and it is legal but he hides his gambling activities from others. He just didn't want other people to see him gambling because that could create a different perception. Besides that, if the environment cannot accept that people are gambling, it can cause problems. For this reason, he felt the need to hide his gambling activities from other people. But he must really be able to take care of himself so that he doesn't experience other problems, namely losing a lot of money and also becoming addicted to gambling.
