The answer is quite simple, for the same very reasons we need cars despite their carbon monoxide emission.No matter how bad politicians are first of all, we voted for them, meaning they are a representation of our choices. They are there to serve our interests and if they happen not to be doing that,we need to evaluate ourselves and raise the bar higher for them. I know of a place where the current governor was the first in about thirty years to win a re-election. This is simply because if you mess up as a political representative, you won't get a second chance so they know they have to serve better.
We need them because if we govern ourselves, everything will eventually crumble TBH.

In every country we really need politicians. Why? Think wisely what happen to the country without politicians? No one lead in every county. The people has no law they may not obey the law of the nation.
Politics is an important issue for any country. Not just politics, transparent politics. Because transparent politics can get a good politician. In the middle of the parliament, with the law and the honest politicians, the law is passed by the law, and in some countries beautiful disciplined nation can be used.. And without any other country and national politicians, development is not possible in any way, so politicians need it.
There is no need for a country other than scientists and teachers, and nowadays some countries are doing a very logical job of importing even workers. Policy is a very unnecessary system.
Someone to lead is always needed especially if you were talking about handling millions of people. Politician exist to lead the community to have a better life. They will create an effective system for organizing our society. Determining how to accomplish things that need to done but would not be done without the approval of the citizens.

A system with voting would be ideal. But all systems written by people can be cracked and voices can be forged. What then is different from politicians who can also be corrupt in the same way?
We really need politician to lead and serve the people in the society. They will be the one who will rule the world and will implement rules that maintain peace and order to our society. I think without them our world will be a battlefield. But we don't need a politician we really need a true politician that will truly embrace their responsibility to lead.

The biggest reason why we need politicians is similar to why we need bankers. They both help us to identify the the biggest criminals in the world so that we can keep away from them for purposes of personal safety.
although, same politicians are not totally do their task, but for me it is much better if we have politicians because they represent our country to other and they defend the rights of everyone.
First of all they are the law makers, but sorry to say not all of them are law abiders too, because there are times, they are the law makers and they are the law breakers too😌 they are suppose to be the role models and be a good example to everyone, but sad to say not all are real one...

99% of all politicians represent only themselves or some clans that they belongs to. And they don't care anything exept money, power and our voices on elections. I think, direct democracy can solve this problem. But it will become possible only when all people become true citizen who really care about they state.
