Probably it is because life is a gamble itself and that may be the reason why we need to gamble, whether it'd be an everyday situation or plainly just a game. It gives us an urge to want more, and people always wants more. And maybe its because you also feel comfortable when you gamble and drawn you to its entertainment.
I don’t think gambling is a “NEED” if you’re financially stable, it’s more of a “WANT”. When you say you need to gamble, then I think there’s a problem as you have established your dependency towards the gambling platform. Gambling is a form of entertainment, not an element that you can’t live without (except as I said if you are highly dependent on its outcome). In my opinion, the only time gambling should be considered as a need is when you need to reward yourself, or when you genuinely deserve it. By that I emphasize that you are financially stable in life and you have extra money to spare so that you can entertain and give yourself a break through gambling.

The environment you grew up in, that has a major impact on why you're motivated to gamble. As to answer your question there is no need to gamble if you feel it's wrong. Since you have brought up family, I would suggest you to stop now, because what you'll do your kids would follow, and if you're having such thought's means you're uncomfortable, involve yourself in some other activities, gambling is fun but not at the expense of your family.

I think we do not really need to gamble. Yes gambling is risky, so instead of winning you can just lose your money. You mentioned you learned gambling in your father, then now have your own family. Since you’re already a parent you’re the role model in your family even to your husband or wife. Do you ever think that your children (if you have any) may also learn gambling from you? Do you want them to be a gambler too? Instead of spending your money in gambling, just use it in trading so you can earn or buy some foods for your family.
